Edibles have been taking a bigger place in the scene over the years.

Not that long ago it was mostly the classic brownie or the occasional batch of gummies, but now you see people really pushing things further. Better infusion methods, more control over dosing, and even full dishes that feel closer to real cooking than just โ€œweed foodโ€.

It feels like things are moving away from the old hit or miss experience into something more dialed in, where you can actually shape the kind of effect you want.

I am curious where everyone here stands with it. Do you keep it simple or have you started experimenting more?

Anyone here making their own edibles regularly? Any methods or recipes that never fail you?

Would be great to hear what people are doing these days, always something new to learn.
You can find some of all time faves recipes here: Cooking Guide

That's me. I don't smoke anything, never have, but I love edibles and so does my husband. We use it to help us go to sleep and most times, stay asleep.

My concern with decarbing in the oven is the loss of terpenes.

Also I hate the taste, so I make my edibles with dry sift hash that's been decarbed in the oven in a canning jar.
I then add butter, stir thoroughly, and use in a recipe. My chocolate 'cookies' are very small, but do the job.

I make very strong canola oil for my husband who then uses it in a box mix to make chocolate cupcakes.

The biggest problem I have is dosing. and getting the same effect every time. I plan to try MCT oil in my next batch of cookies to see if the onset of effects happens sooner than it does with butter. I also add sunflower lecithin to each batch.

Make my own oil and syrup

Moved away from batch edibles because dosing was a problem
Use the oils and syrup like a condiment
Added to prepared food or drinks right before consumption
Some like their dose all at once and others like it spread out and easing into the effects
Trying to work on nano emulsion for better uptake and quicker onset

We make tinctures. They conveniently can be stored for long periods of time. The potency can be adjusted by controlling the degree of reduction. We usually blend different crops. We just mixed some unusually potent White Widow with Royal Medic and some somatically effective cookies. It's great for sleep.

We experiment. We've lately started water curing to remove taste. That way, it doesn't affect recipes. So far, results have been favorable.

We don't make edibles. We mostly vape. We use tinctures to a lesser extent. Dosing is a common problem, so we test our tincture batches and rate them according to potency. That makes it easier to use them.

Edibles is something i want to set my focus on in the future, i am already pressing and sifting good quality but the next step is going to be gummies or chocolate.

Reason is because i want to ease up on my longs.

Susvide for making i did lots but dark chocolate is best. bitternes hides the weed taste.

Alleays wanted to make ice cream but i dont know if i would manage to make a tiny dose

I have made ice cream and sorbet
If you weigh in grams it is easy to dose
The churning does a good job of distributing the THC carrier
If you like ice cream a lot be careful of your infusion
Sometimes a regular batch and a dosed batch is a good idea
Infusing topping is very simple

If taste is an issue you can do a carbon and celite 545 scrub on your tincture
It will strip the terps but the taste will improve dramatically to the point of non detection
Did this for several years before refined RSO became available, basically less tacky distillate that is easier to work with when doing emulsions

Almost no taste and once mixed into anything you can not detect any cannabis flavor
I can recreate the refined RSO cannabis oil after a carbon scrub but mine is red from oxidation

Terpene retention is something I'm looking into but they are so volatile and get lost in the most minimal processing method

Started working with Lab Effects terpene mixes
You need a mask, fumes are overwhelming in the tiniest drops
For me it reintroduced the floral/plant taste that I do not like but just a whiff can kind of chill you
Needs a bit of research for true practical application safely

The canning jar method for decarbing is smart, keeps more of the terpenes in than open oven decarbing. Dry sift hash as a base is a solid choice too, cleaner starting material usually means more predictable results.

Oil and syrup as a condiment is a really practical approach, portion control becomes much easier when you're adding it at the end rather than baking it in. The nano emulsion angle is interesting, onset times drop significantly and bioavailability goes up. Are you experimenting with any specific emulsifiers or just testing different methods?

Tinctures are seriously underrated long shelf life, precise dosing and no flavour interference once you've water cured. Blending different crops to balance the effect profile is a smart move too. White Widow and Royal Medic is an interesting combo for sleep โ€” the CBD from the Medic probably smooths out the high nicely.

The carbon and celite 545 scrub is a technique most home producers never get to serious processing knowledge right there. The trade-off between taste removal and terpene loss is the core tension in refined extracts. Lab Effects terpene mixes are an interesting workaround but you're right, working with isolated terps requires proper ventilation and a careful hand a tiny drop goes a long way.

You can water cure for a week all taste will be gone
Water curing is very effective and for most people it will work
Best method for beginners and experienced processors
The people we help are in a lot of pain and looking for fast relief
Having several methods of processing helps to cover as many in need as quickly as possible (word of the day, AS)
one of the drawbacks of a water cure from experience is that it can still have a "hay" like taste
Could be the cure (damn you Robert Smith, RIP) or my processing method

Drawing from my own experience after an involved shoulder surgery last year I confirmed that THC is the most important cannabinoid for pain and sleep, but...
It is apparent the terps help just as much, regulating and tempering the THC

Please tell me this is not an AI thread

Hey, not AI, real thread. And yeah, you're onto something with the terps. Everyone chases clean taste and loses half the effect in the process. Especially for pain, stripping the profile back feels counterproductive.

So many AI threads across the sites

The taste matters a lot to me
The days of "shooting" down full spectrum infused coconut oil were rough
The taste would make me wretch and could cause stomach upset along with occasional GI issues

Began using infused syrup
The carbon scrub made it easy to ingest and I got a lot of pain relief with a green out here and there
I began micro dosing with some flower (ball vape) and noticed a bump in my pain relief but no green outs or increase in anxiety with the additional dosing

Hoping the nano emulsion will pull us even with the corporate processing
Azuca has a patented fast onset process that is NOT nano emulsion
Weed meets greed

Growers need to step outside the box and get rid of the middle men
The underground cannabis markets are exploding as dispo prices are through the roof forcing people to buy from questionable sources
Spray packs, moldy and contaminated products are everywhere making it dangerous for people who are medically compromised to buy off the streets
This is where a carbon scrub can help a lot

Just a couple of things I've made for my friends and family.
Chocolate (strong and regular)
Rso
Heart Teaspoon full of oil
Oil and Chocolate mixing on the double boiler
Peanutbutter chocolate tasters.

Simple and effective lineup!! RSO into chocolate is hard to beat for both potency and taste. The peanut butter chocolate combo is underrated too, the fat content in peanut butter actually helps with absorption.
