Off to a good start for the summer in Alexandria. Started these 4 Puna Buddaz in my tent in April.View attachment 2643472View attachment 2643471

My neighborhood has a lot of Ailanthus, Tree of Heaven. Terrible invasive trees that grow and spread almost as bad as bamboo and support various nasty pests. Now the Spotted Lantern Fly nymphs have infested the grape vine. They will suck all the juice out of it if they can. I've been squishing them by the hundreds but every morning there's more. Hope they are disinterested in cannabis.

I found this seed co with my fingers doing the walking. I thought about how good the Hawaiian smelled back in my adolescence and started searching online for seed in Hawaii. They're called Pua Mana 'Ohana; [email protected]. They offer good deals and extras. This is my first grow using their genetics so I can't actually give you a report for a few months yet, but the plants seem robust and healthy so far.
I figure that the scent that I'm after is dependent on the volcanic soil, Island myco and other constituents of the terroir of Hawaii but I couldn't let that deter me in my quest. I hope you find something to enjoy.

I can tell you the leaves look different but to be expected because they apparently keep breeding it with more indica so you can't find the original or pure anymore I do wish I kept some seeds when I received was most likely a F2 because they were all over the place but my home grown came out way better than the bag seeds .I've seen that seedbank in guessing 49% off i just didn't pull the trigger wasn't sure if they were legit.like to see how they come out.

Totally agree! Made that mistake once...wettable sulfur does kill them. But use with extreme caution!! And NEVER use it on flower.

Well, yes, I don't have any illusions about genetic purity and that's not what I'm expecting. As a novice and with limited experience or connections I'm just practicing my own disposition to buy from a little guy, or a local guy, before I buy from an Amazon or a Walmart. Their line names seem just as bogus to me. Crosses seem to be what's available out there. I would think that a seed company worth it's genetic heritage would only sell one heirloom, protect it, and be known for that, right? Where is that company? I blame Capitalism. It's a blessing and a curse. In 6 years of growing I've yet to grow any super weed, but I haven't grown any crappy weed either. Anyway I'll keep posting pics and report the results because I really enjoy my hobby.

man I hate the update... I can't see what the f*can im writing

In my past, I have had the pleasure of growing some awesome skunks, some of the " Christmas tree bud", some of the most potent purple one indicates and, some crazy landrace sativas. I have found that you can have several seed from the same plant, and not have the same weed from each. The only way I have found to get consistent results, is when you find one you like... take plenty of cuttings. I have had strains that were over three years old. I am going to try to feminized some seed this year, I will let you know the results. But as far as I know, cloning is the only way to replicate exactly...and then there is live cultures:)

Theirs a few companies that sell good genetics for reasonable prices still at DCSEEDEXCHANGE Brothers Grimm ,Mendo 20/20, and Subcool. several breeders have cab collaboration work A little more expensive but fire Ambrosia, Cannatasia, and Phoenix flower are a collab. Also Katsu seeds has some fire he also has his own seedbank . Also but more expensive he look for F1s and anything after F3s are more stable s1 are selfed female and usually more stable.F2 the genetics shatter but you can pheno hunt then. But most seedbanks carry all of these .

Thank you for that list.

I have everything jarred with a total yield of 526 grams (18.78 oz). On this grow I had two bad phenotypes that were not great producers and had lots of pistils so trimming was a bi$@h. It was still 44 grams better than the last time I ran these in 2024.

Awesome, I guess I can still dream!

I have a grower friend near Staunton and she has had wonderful grows year after year up there so I think your in a good place compared to me.
What I learned is that if you get caterpillars you'll want a Bt product. Neem oil and Lost Coast are both oil products which may work well on powdery mildew and some critter species, but not caterpillars. You have to read the labels and know what pest your up against. Don't spray oil products in the heat of the day, use in the cool morning. Inspect your plants closely as often as you can. Bring a plastic bag with you so you can get rid of pests or leaf fronds that have egg casings or whatever on them and isolate them.
My experience was that the first year I planted outdoors my plants got a free pass because the pests hadn't found them yet. That was my best year. Every year since then I've had caterpillars and sometimes mold on the buds in the fall.
Your starts are looking healthy. Good to see.
Happy for the advice and practical experience. Advice taken and thank you!

Sorry to hear that. We do get the humidity in Va tho don't we.

I had spots on the buds last year. When I investigated there were little caterpillars so I did an emergency harvest and salvaged about 50% on that plant.
This year I've got Lost Coast Plant Therapy to try. It says it is very versatile and negates several insects and molds so I'm hoping I can defeat that kind of issue if it turns up this year.
Wanted to try that. Comes highly regarded. Another Virginian said it won’t work on caterpillars (probably not much will). He said had to use BT?

Bt is a pesticide for caterpillars, mosquitos and other bugs made from Bacillus Thuringiensis which is a natural product, safe for the environment.

There many brands of Bt so you can usually find one at Home Depot or a Garden store or get at Amazon.

You may want to check out Natures Good Guys... they specialize in natural remedies for most problematic insects

Starting the final week of flush... the smells are so wonderful!
How about a fresh picture of the "Blue Dream Haze" overall and a few close-ups? Its a damn shame there is not a " Trade a Bud" program as I would like to try some of that 80/20 sativa dominate stuff. It is sativa dominate, right? So how do you feel now about DWC?

Not much to report here, day 9 of the Banana Purple Punch RF3. About 10 weeks to go.
