OG Kush Bx first SOG grow!

Nothing you cant correct! One thing I noticed in the pics......the biggest plant looks to be the most damaged. You could try relocating that fan. It looks to be blowing on that plants pot the most. Could create root problems down below, quickly drying one side of the pot. This same plant is showing signs of that in the form of the 'canoe' leaves up top. Could also be the light os a bit too strong or close to the plant.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about the fan being an issue! Yes, I thinkbthe lights might be a bit close as well but I'm trying to balance adequate distance for the top buds while allowing the bottom ones to get enough PAR. upon reflection I probably should have topped to spread them out but they were so tiny and lacked vigor that I didn't want to challenge them too much.

OK, week 7 and these gorgeous plants are plumping up and getting greasy! Some of the buds feel like they're coated in syrup! About 3 or 4 noticeable phenotypes. Im most excited about the stretchy one. Absolutely rock hard nugs and coated with tricombs! I still feel like they have a month or so to go, they're supposed to be 8-9 weeks (but aren't they all).
Additionally, I haven't been able to stop the leaf degradation. I slowed it down for sure, but it's still present. It's occurring to me now that they might be root bound and not taking up enough nutrients. It's too late into flowering to up pot and the buds and plant generally seem healthy so I think I might just stay the course? I've seen leaf degradation on a lot of plants during later flowering before and gotten killer buds, so it's just a matter of how close into finishing flowering they really are.

Well I've checked the trics and they are all cloudy with some ambering! Kind of surprising as a lot of the hairs are still white but they are going into flush.

Overall I'm happy. Plants were thick, frosty, rock hard, and smelled awesome. Vegetative growth was a bit slow, which complicated my attempt at a SOG grow. Looking back i ought to have topped the seedlings to spread them out more but I was nervous about that because they were so small. Also I think the trouble i was having with leaf damage was due to them being root bound and thus having nutrient lock out. That being said it was only the standard phenos that had that damage so perhaps it was a micronutrient issue? Not really sure but over all I'm excited to try this smoke in a month!

So this gal was the show stopper! Only one of 2 that showed purples and wow what a fade!!

So this was the standard pheno. Thick and sticky with a gassy/citrus smell.

This was the little weirdo, here bud structure resembles the tall skinny pheno with the beautiful fade. She was also the only other with purples. Earthy and sweet smelling. So glad I kept her!

That's a nice finish for a rough little seed SOG. The purple stretchy one definitely earned the show-stopper label, but I wouldn't sleep on the standard pheno either. That squat chunky structure is the one I'd want more of if you run it again.

Leaf damage looks like the 2 gal root zone running out of buffer late, more than some clean single deficiency. Those small cloth pots can dry hard and concentrate salts, then when you feed again the plant looks hungry and locked out at the same time. Pretty common at the end with a plant that has filled the pot.

For the next SOG I'd either run clones off the best pheno, or top the seed plants early once they are established and let them recover a bit before flip. Seeds will always give you that uneven canopy unless you train them a little.

Don't rush the dry on those. They look dense enough that a slow steady dry is going to matter more than anything you did in the last week. Nice save on the little weirdo too, she turned out better than half the ones that started normal.

Wow, compostmike! Thanks so much for another informed, detailed, and thoughtful reply! And thanks also for confirming my suspicions about the root zone issues. Is there any way to stop the binding in those small pots or is it just a natural consequence of using smaller pots?
