They are only asking for $10 and hour or 10% but that seemed a little low to me.I don`t care for trim machines as you have to take the buds off the stock and then dry them on a rack.That just squeezes the buds or makes flat spots as they dry.Also hand trimmed just looks better when done right.

My buds look perfect and delicious. Nobody knows I use a spinpro unless I tell them. Taking the buds off the stalk gets them even better. You get all the sugar leaf that normally wouldn't get trimmed hiding between buds. No flat spots if you don't pile them onto the rack. If you place them evenly without piling, they dry perfect. I'm happier with the quality of the spinpro trim job more than my last trim crew.

2000 an lb for you = 200 for the trimmer ( 10% ) or roughly 20 bucks and hr (pretty fair)
1500lb = 150 trimmer = 15 an hr? To trim bud all day? In California ? no thanks!

Ok time for a tangent. . . Mace are you one of those big field of dreams commercial guys because 2000 a lb is just insanity, that's not even trying at all, that's just no self respect pure and simple. What kind of schwagg are you selling for 2k a pound, if it's not schwagg then HELLO there are other growers out there who like it when people don't pull the freaking rug out from under us and set the bar that low.


In the last two years i've seen this happen : outdoor chronic buds were $3000-3600 until 2009, when that seemed to drop to 2500-3000. Now, stuff has barely started coming in but growers better bring their own lube to market because they are all getting fucked, I am guessing cali pot clubs are paying 2000-2600 this year for outdoor. So really I see wholesale prices dropping 30% or more in 2 years. No way in hell would I pay a trimmer more than 150 for an outdoor pound. . . Those pounds are easy anyways, all big chunks. Unless I had it sold already for 36+ and then I would pay 200.

I'd like to see a picture of that. I can tell spun buds the minute I see them (and I've been seeing a lot of that around of late). Not calling you a liar, I'd just like to see it, because they have a certain look, I call it a 'puffball', that hand-trimmed bud doesn't have.

That doesn't even address the trichs.

Fractal, if I were pulling in a certain amount, I'd probably be willing to take a lower price. We've got to strike a balance between getting a decent ROI and allowing for what the market will bear. I'm sure you've heard of people who are stuck on getting a certain price who are *still* sitting on last year's bud, yes? There's no way I would put myself in that position, I'll take a lower price if I can't find anything better and in most product-based business models sitting on inventory, especially *perishable* inventory, is not a good policy. I would be pleased to make a minimum of $2500/lb on my OD bud, I think that is a fantastic ROI for this particular product (speaking specifically of mine) on a wholesale level. I also understand that everyone who handles my product before it arrives to the end user has got to make their cut. It's also why I weigh up my pounds a zip or so heavy, allows some wiggle room for the next guy.

That said, I have yet to brave letting anyone other than family handle my product.

I estamate the dry weight this year between 75-100 LBS. 10% goes to the land owner for garden space and 10% or so to the trimmers. Most of the God`s gift and the GDP has turned deep purple and it is very icy this year.I had some catapillers and some bud rot in the Banana OG Kush colas and the last rain knocked a little down but it has been tied back up and seems to be doing fine. I `ve seen the starting prices around here beginning at about $1700-$1800. I figure to try for $2500 a pound if they buy 10+ at a time.Most the buyers seem to be from out of state so far this year. I`m sure they have a nice mark up! I`m hopeful that I`ll be able to refit the shops here for seed production with the income and later find me a small patch of land with a well/septic to start over with after my loss of my home from forcloser do to rippers. I got the seed stock from 40+ years of collecting/trading ,just need the space to do some breeding. I must have 40 customers asking when I will have auctions again and wanting more seeds.All I can tell them is soon as it takes!

Ummm yeah I'd have to call BS on that one too. Buds done with a trim machine have a totally, 100% different look than hand-trimmed buds. I can spot machine done bud a mile away - they always have that chewed up look and trich damage unless you are just using them to remove fan leave and then doing a final hand trim. The machines are very fast and very cost effective but anyone claiming that the buds look the same or that there is no trich damage either isn't very observant, or is just flat out lying.

Each to there own when it comes to trim machines. I prefure to employe people myself. Machines can`t be paid in barter! Also takes up space to dry the buds on racks and more $ to make all thoughs racks to dry your buds on.Then in the end if done right bud looks a little better when hand trimmed I think.Wouldn`t mind getting a tumbler though cause I like pressed hash over bubble hash and it`s so much work with just a framed screen to sift.

I dig the way you think bro.... im all about hand trimming 2 the machines look kool and i have never used one im just saying this on what i have seen and read but it seems that after the machine trims the buds it just makes mush out of the trim and i have even heard people that use it say the trim is garbage and cant really be used to even make hash but like i said i havent tried it for myself yet.... it seems to me when it comes to certain things in growing the old way is the best way..... Trimming, Drying, Curing all the new stuff seems like short cuts IMO

The big machines that require oil to lubricate the blades are the ones that ruin the trim. The bowl trimmers make the best hash trim you could possibly hope for.

We use a Trim-pro, but also do a bit of hand manicuring on the back end when dry.... Depends on the destination, really. If it's going to the Dispensary they want that pussy shaved!!!!!! My wife and I do 15 - 20 bows every couple months, takes 3 or 4 days is all...... she bucks the plants, I give them "la machine" and then we use a rack of screens...... the fine trim gets done when they're dry and coming off the branches.

Really, it's just a tool. Like an electric screwdriver, you wouldn't hand assemble a steel building........ you'd use a tool. Now, if you were just doing a small shed, maybe.....

trim machine is the way to go imo, no flaky people, fast and nice to make hash/oil from the trim

that makes sence to mee i have seen people make hash from the trim off the spin pro and heard its BOMB but i think it would be a waste to have grown some killer bud then run it through a maching that runins the trim bc there is ALOT i can extract from trim

It all depends on the situation. If you have multiple pounds that are headed to the wholesale market a trim machine is the only sensible option IMHO. If you've got a few plants in your closet/tent that are headed to your bong, by all means, hand trim.

If it comes out of my personal grow, it has been hand manicured and dried on the stick. After it is dry,it is de-boned. I have used the machines, they are sweet. I just think the herb cures and shapes better on the stick.

i get the wife and my grown up kids to bloody hand cut,we do around 6 lbs a day over 10 hrs,only 4 ppl doing it.machines sux hand cutting only way to go.
