Will two 600w HPS bulbs at more penetration that one 1000w HPS

Just get what you can afford to run. 600's are MORE efficient at lumens per watt PERIOD. But nothing is going to tighten up your buds better then MORE light. I have done a spectacular job in a tiny room with a 400. Biggest thing is your GENETICS man. Just use as much light as you CAN. THats it.

Has anyone noticed if their dual arcs get noticeably hotter than HPS or MH bulbs? After adding them did anybody have to change up the room cooling?

Yes, they do run noticeably hotter than the comparable HPS bulb (no quantifiable measurements, but without a doubt they run hotter) - I have no 600 MHs to compare to, so can't speak on that.

Great topic. I've been thinking about this very question. I was going to start with a dual 600 watt set up next week, but then the construction plans changed, due to issues with erecting partitions and i decided to just make it bigger and go with dual 1000's. Now, the question is - 1000 watt what?

The idea of going dual arc and not changing bulbs around (or having to have switchable ballasts) is intriguing. The Horti's are spendy, but i've also been eyeballing some Ultra Sun dual arcs for about half the price. If anyone has any experience with them i'd love to hear it.

Last cycle I was running dual 600 watt HPS in the flower room. Made the switch to the 1000 dual arc. Before I put my 4 Querks in 12/12. Anyway my eyes see the diff as well as the bags.

All I keep thinking about is the 2.14 gpw heath got with one 600, no ac, no chiller, no co2... It was 43oz. Havent seen many others get above the 2gpw mark.

1ks have deep penetration
I remember HR saying something along the lines of "point of diminishing returns" when you use more light.
Comercial and I are using 1ks in our flip flop, still I think that 600's are the best bang for your buck.
