Photoperiod changed to 12/12

Riding out the remaining veg nutes for the first week of flower.
Specs have been;

PH @ 5.8-6.1
PPM @ 500-650
Water Temp @ 65*-67*
C02 @ 900ppm
Room temp @ 73*-77* 55%-85% RH

I added DM Zone for the remaining week.
I actually looked at my notes and ran this rez for 4 weeks. Longer then i planned without a flush but i continued to top off with Heavy A&B and they seemed to blow up regardless. Roots still pearly white and filling the buckets.
I will drain the buckets tomorrow and add RO for a 24hr flush.
The 200gal rez will refill and ill add flower nutes for the next two weeks.

Bloom Lineup;

Heavy16 Bud A&B
Roots Excel til week 4
DM Zone before flushes and after week 4.
Cannazym
Heavy16 Beta sweetener "Prime"
Heavy16 Nutrient Foliar (once/week)
Heavy16 Beta "Low Profile" Foliar (twice during 12/12 stretch)

Im looking to start at 700ppms and ramp up to around 1000ppms and see how they do.

I finished lollipopping the ladies this week and took 8 cuts from 6 different phenos that i think will b the keepers.
A couple plants were so dense, I spent 1-2 hours just cleaning up, taking cuts, and strategically moving shoots around to each 2x1 hole for even spacing.
I measured each screen's canopy level from the floor up to monitor how much (if any) stretch using the beta Heavy16 "Low Pro" foliar. Encourages lateral growth while minimizing the vertical stretch during photoperiod transition. I will document the canopy height before harvest to see how the Low Pro foliar performed.

Week 2 Day 14 Flower

Things have really blown up over the last week.

PH @ 5.8-6.1
PPM @ 750
Room Temp @ 80* 55%-65% RH
Water Temp @ 68*
C02 @ 1200ppm

Swapped out the MH bulbs for Hortilux Super HPS bulbs.
Increased C02 to 1200ppm
Raised lamps after plants stretched. Approx 12"-20" from canopy.
White hairs began forming and bud sites are developing.
We deemed this batch of beta "Low Pro" was ineffective.
Most plants stretched and seemed to vary by pheno.
Im already stoked for next round with the pheno winners.

Ive been swamped working on the veg room, preppin the 4x8 veg table for flood/drain feed, with 5" net pots to preveg cuttings after rooted in the cloner. The second 4x8 tray will be for scions. Each table will have 2x 600w MH for vegging. The net pots will be filled with hydroton then transplant into the UC buckets for flower.
Getting ready to order the 3phase 5ton AC and install. Gotta move the 2ton Split unit to the veg room also.
Installing a 14k BTU portable dual hose unit in my work/office/drying rooms since i sweat my ass off all day with outside temps only 80*-90* right now.
Had to move a lot of shit around and reorganize in preperation for adding
2x 8gal 16 site systems. Additional reservoirs and plumbing is the next big project.
Ive fallen a littler behind on my thinning maintenance but will catch up soon.
Since the plants stretched more then expected, i went ahead and raised the scrog screen 6" for addtional support. Most tops are 6"-18" tall from the screen.
The suspended screen is very easy to raise carefully by urself, one corner at a time, and just tighten the clamps. No broken branches or pull out trunks.
I only need to do minor leaf removal and cut shorter tops that the HIDs wont reach. Im not sure how far down the 600s will penetrate the canopy so should be an interesting GPW.
My first 2 Power Kush ladies are looking 1/2 the size of the others. Mostly due to lack of light intensity im sure. Overlapping 600w footprints seem to really help fill the gap between plants but the ends seem to suffer. Next round i will be running 1000w over the 13 gal systems. 600w over the 8 gals.

Week 4 Day 23

Room Specs;

PH @ 5.8-6.1
PPM @ 800-850
Water Temp @ 68*
Room Temp @ 80* 45-55% RH
C02 @ 1300ppm

Raised Lamps twice during stretch.
Raised screen twice and did more lollipopping to clean up underside of the canopy that light wasnt reaching.
Next run I expect to veg at least 2-3 weeks LESS now that im not planning to use the "Low Pro" foliar. This way i can anticipate the stretch better and maintain a more even canopy.
Certain plants have stretched more then others. The shorter pheno with tighter internode spacing will def be the keepers.
The two front plants dont seem to be receiving enough lumens. They were stunted and the neighboring plants dominated the space overgrowing them. So once harvested, i will use those two strictly for bubble hash and edibles. Same goes for the Pre 98 Bubba runt in the far back corner.

This is the first run in this location and several upgrades are being done every week. Ive got another small leak in bucket #5 (middle of the rows)
Im not sure how many other growers out there have actually tried switching out a bucket mid cycle, but anyone thats put together a UC system knows how much fun it is just assembling the manifold/buckets WITHOUT plants. And alone is even better believe me. Ive become the bucket switchin master lol. This will be the 4th bucket swap mid cycle. And going to be by far; the trickiest.
Besides the challenges going on the plants seem to be doing well. PPMs started off kind of high (850ppm) and crept up to 950ppm and PH kept rising. I went ahead and added DM Zone for at least 2 days to help sterilize. I also added GoGnats for a week in the rez once i saw signs of adult gnats. Added several more yellow sticky pads. Sprayed with Azatrol.
Yesterday i drained the buckets and added RO for a 24hr flush. Drained buckets today and added 100gal of Bloom Nute regiment.
PPMs came out to around 600ppm & a PH of 5.5
I was reading a chart suggesting for water culture specifically, run PH @ 5.5-5.8
I will add in more Bud A&B tomorrow as needed to increase the ppms where i want and think the plants will tolerate.

For Week 4-5 im running;
Heavy16 Bud A&B 10ml/gal
Heavy16 Prime 1ml/gal (undiluted beta version)
Cannazym @ 10ml/gal
Roots Excel @ 1ml/gal
Big Bud @ 4ml/gal

Plants are stacking on buds now with several white hairs and frost beginning to creep out on the leafs.
The power kush fan leaves are a lot longer then most strains ive come across. I measure one petiole length @ 10" no joke.
No aroma yet that i can detect. If anything having a nonsmoker is a better nose since kush is my cologne.
Hooked up the 100can carbon filter with the oracle 8" fan

I installed a 13,000 BTU Portable A/C in my "work area" to keep it cool for a few reasons;
i sweat my ass off working in there considering it hit 90* inside when its only been up to 85* outside. I didnt forsee this issue really when i designed and built out my shop. So this quick install seems to have done the trick.
We cut 5" holes in the ceiling and thru the roof for the ductwork. Added flashers to the roof top to prevent rain and aimed diff directions to avoid recirculation the exhaust into the intake duct. I put together a stage style shelf if u want to call it that. Lag bolted the sides into the wooden studs and hung chain from the ceiling beams with turnbuckles to tighten the slack. Temp drain rez for the runnoff until the second 70pint dehuey arrives and i do all the new plumbing. Running dual ducting portable ACs is much more efficient then the old style single duct. Anyone running these in a growroom should know it will exchange aroma and c02 if used.
The temp was set to 72* and runs as often as needed to cool the work room.
This helps keep the chiller rez cool, which in turn makes the chiller run less often, and the AC neutralizes the heat load created by the 1hp chiller.
Also the 25cfm Blower runs sumwat warm and is now cooled by the AC. And instead of injecting my buckets with 80-90* air from the blowers intake in the work room, the intake air is measured at a cool 68*-72* anytime of the day.
All my nutrient reservoirs are kept in the work room also, which warm up with the ambient room temp being to hot. So now with the AC running, the water is always cooled and im not as concerned with pathogens developing in my non chilled rezs.
UV lights are my future upgrades.

Spent a lot of time gettin together a trial temp veg room. Kind of complicated to explain everything that goes thru my mind so for now im just going to report on what happens in the veg room whether good or bad. I welcome all respectful suggestions for veg methods for DWC. All equip seen is from my previous grows so im using what i have on hand til i make a permanent decision. Im using a 4x8 tray flood/drain method for prevegging clones and preppin them for the DWC buckets in the flower room. The goal is to take cuts from mother plants (which will be kept on the parallel 4x8 tray under 600w MH lamps & flood/drain method) then root them in the Ezcloner under T5s, after a week we have roots and ready to transplant on the second week to the 4x8 veg table. Flood & drain the table with plants in 5" or 8" net pots (whichever flower system its designated for) & hydroton for the medium. I have tweaked the timer to allow the water to flood up to the roots then drain almost completely bak down into the rez, then the timer kiks bak on reflooding the table so no roots dry out. Sumthing like 10mins on, 15mins off.
Veg nutes;
Heavy16 Veg A&B
Cannazym
Roots excel
Superthrive
The 600w MH lamp is 3' above the canopy and temps are about 70-78* 65% RH. Water temps about 68*-70*
Everything in the veg room is a temp setup to get the ball rolling and reduce the amount of veg time in the large flower room. I need to veg sumthing like 100-120 ladies in order to choose the strongest 64 for flower.
Some new flavors have also been added to the lineup;
Fire OG Kush
Chem Valley Kush

On the veg table now is;
Power Kush #2,3,4,5,7,11
Blackwater

I think thats all to report for now. Enjoy the photos. Still learning the DSLR.

Things are looking stellar Boomer! 10" fans eh? Looks like you got things under control bro. I think I'm gonna try out the Heavy 16 on my next run in Flower. Still got like 1/2 a gallon of AN for Veg.

Have you considered using Phosphoload? I have a buddy who SWEARS by it. He uses it @ week 2 and then again @ week 6. Think I might throw that in the mix as well next run.

Hope the bucket swap goes smooth for ya. I bet you put your next system together in record time!

id def rec running Heavy16. His gear is an artisan-grade blend, chelated, and includes all the micros. Of course by volume Heavy16 will cost more then sum other brands but i agree with his philosophy; give the grower an all in one solution that requires less inventory management and mixing. its not nearly as diluted as advance nutes so u dont need to use as much per gallon, and its all micro-brewed right here in so cal. buying several diff "bloom" boosters and lineups of 6-10 bottles gets old. especially for those mixing new reservoirs every week. he just got picked up by a national distributor and shops like my homeboys @ greencoast are selling the shit out of heavy16. thats why ull actually see it poppin up all over the place.
oh and did i mention the customer service quality? just like CCUC, Heavy16 will answer any questions and do walk thru quidance. He believes in his product and has a no-nonsense policy regarding marketing hype and myths...

Regarding phosphoload, im not introducing many additives for a while until i have all 4 systems operational and dialing in all my base controlled regiments with the heavy16 lineup. then i can do experiments with diff nutes in a controlled enviroment side by side.
another grower i know just finished his 2x 16 site 8gal UC run using only Heavy16 Veg/Bud A&B the whole way thru. (with nuthin else literally) and to my surprise it turned out better then i wouldve figured not using any additives or boosters. were waiting for the GPW report and lab results.

The bucket swap was a lot less work then i had expected. if anything the stress of the whole ordeal is just getting old. i decided to just literally cut out the bucket from the manifold line and held the plant up into the screen for support, pulled the bucket out from underneath, put the roots into a 5gal bucket temp then swapped in the new replacement bucket. Used 3" rubber couplers to reconnect the manifold without any leaks and it seemed to work out better by relieving the stress on the neighboring buckets.
i am already looking forward to the next round;
buying CCUC gear for turnkey operation and less system tweaking.
most likely will cut my existing bucket holes slightly larger for another attempt at running a DIY system, without breaks/leaks.

Figured id show u guys what the damage has been looking like due to pressure cracks.

i have the schedule at the shop but i only use it as a reference if anything.
Its designed for drain/waste (RW/coco) and PPMS are way too high for RDWC and i wont run greatwhite etc in this system. But basically i stick with the keep it simple method with less is more theory.
Im still testing several diff theories and concepts with diff additives, but thats the fun part. So we will see what happens.

Well, so far you've got the camera settings pretty good for the ambient light in those shots... Maybe when the colas are more developed you could use some fluorescent lighting, camera flash on and white balance set to daylight mode for the money shots...

As for the AC, I like the shelf as I could build one and then exhaust into my attic rather than get a window AC and draw attention to my op... It looks like you're using the rubbermaid to capture the drain water... Do you have any issues with odor from the exhaust or are you somehow filtering the air? :wondering

thanks for the photo tips. i actually have flouro shop lights hanging so ill give that a shot with HIDs off and just shop lights on. should work better.

The stage i made is just a frame 2x4s with a middle support and plywood nailed together. Lag bolted to the studs on the wall, then hung with heavy gauge chain/eye hooks, & a turnbuckle each chain for tighter tension and no slack. im attmepting to get everything earthquake proof in the next few months as well. the AC is located outside my growrooms and is actually over the doorway into my flower room. so i dont have any odor concerns; but yes the portable ACs all leak odor and c02 if located in the growroom. Ill take a couple shots today for u if i remember; lol considering today is mutha fuggin 4/20!
But concerning the tote for drainage, i did that as a temp fix for now and hand drain it about every 3 days.
I just received my second 70pint dehuey to help when flowers pack on, but i plan to run an entire new plumbing manifold. which will allow me to hardpipe drain; my new 5ton AC, 2x 70 pint dehueys, & the 13k BTU portable AC from the work room. otherwise it looks like shit right now with hoses and piping randomly all over going to two diff drain sites. im OCD and if anyone, ud know that from my previous runs when u were watching. lol. so i wanna get everything setup just right but gotta start building more stage supports and install the new 5ton AC. The tote works fine for now but eventually that space will be replaced with the Blower and sound box.
Im goin into overdrive mode right now to install a gang of new shit for the staggered flower cycle with the 2x 8gal 16 site UC systems. A whole new hardpiped manifold system for;
chiller/cooling coils, blower air manifold, reservoirs gravity feed manifold, drain manifold, and a ramp to get over all the piping. lol. im buying close to 1000ft in pvc this week.
Anyways im done rambling. time to go celebrate today & light up for those ive lost.
