I don't think the molasses or other sugars I use do anything to increase the trichome density or other such aspects with relation to "frostiness" per se. I personally think that's a misconception, as well as the idea that sugars will give "sweeter" buds. What I think does occur when sugars are properly used is that you can not only achieve slightly better growth, but more importantly, bring out flavors that might not otherwise be quite so prominent.

I have found that strain/variety/cultivar is what makes the biggest difference, hands down.

Molasses is a source of vitamins and minerals, and can be a food source for certain beneficial bacteria.

If you want to add "flavor" to your buds, you can go to the cooking supply store and buy flavored concentrates. Put one of these little bottle in your res a couple weeks before harvest, then flush final week. You will definitley smell/taste the concentrate in the finished flowers. I dont do this anymore, but about 15 years ago, I used to add bubble gum flavor to my bubble gum strain and I promise you it works. this was an old trick from some old time hydro friends.

properly CURE your flowers to aid in the breakdown of extra sugars accumulated which are a major factor in flowers being harsh on lungs.

Very simplistically speaking Brix is a measurement of sugar content , very common usage within the wine industries as an assessment of grape ripeness. Certain other agricultural industries , the fruit juice makers , sugar companies etc use one or the other of the four scales.

Anecdotal only but I've had very positive results feeding molasses across quite a range of plants and it does particularly seem to enhance the flavors of the various berries and my peppers , both hot and sweet.

Carbs and sugars increase the Brix (don't ask me to explain exactly what the Brix level is) level I remember reading. My understandidng was that by doing so the metabolism of the plant is increased and higher yields and happier plants are a result. Its not as if these carbs and sugars are going to be turned directly into sap causing your plant to be more frosty. I think of it more like supplimenting a beneficial set of elements that allow my plants to achieve their peak performance.
Exactly! Well said.

I really like Hi Brix Molasses by earth juice. It's basically humboldt honey for 1/3 the price.

39.55$ for five gallons, indispensable stuff.......by the way , you'll be unlikely to ever come up with an Fe defiency with molasses in your plants diet.

G'day.

My current regimen is 3 part gh, with Epsom salts week 1,3,5, mkp week 6, pure blend week 5,6.

This time around I will be using nutrilife (?) black strap for it's reccomended weeks 3,5,7 instructions. I will get back to y'all on how the results are.

It should be a good indicator as the only recipe change in a year will be the addition of black strap this round.

I dry and cure for 2 weeks min before anything leaves , but nevers mells like bubblegum. My dry room is climate controled with a humidistat. Exactly what products did u use these. flavors? My dried flowers smell crunk as ever, flavor would be somthing new. Any reason u don't do this anymore?

I was usin straight humbolt honey in the beginning but noticed significant improvments when I added molasses, I now use both together. I asked my hydroshop last week for some molasses and they sold me bud candy, lol. What the hell worth a shot at $24 qt for test.

I heard botanicares got there bran now called straped, anyone use it yet? My hydro store didn't know what the fuck I was talkin about when I brought up molasses, jus bud candy and sweet by bt. Dumbasses

Has anyone here explored Ribose supplementation in cannabis yet as an enhancement to energy mobilisation and transport?

What about feeding for production of specific terpenes to enhance specific flavors?

Hypothetical yes , but it's coming.

@DP:

The cooking flavors come in little glass bottles. They are for makign candy and shit. They come in every flavor. I dont know why I stopped, I guess I just like the natural aromas of a good strain. LIke I said though, this works. You know how they have all the flavors of Sweet? This is like that but way better and cheaper.

I also use earth juice hi brix as a carb source. This I feel is the most bang for the buck, and I dont have to boil down raw black strap to make a solution first.

Mine always seemd to drop to the bottom of my res. I dont think that the cold water helps the molasses dissolve in the water. Better for me putting it in warm water first. Now I use EJ high brix though and that dissolves fine in my tea, then I apply.
