Unfortunately all of the above. As I've gotten older, my sensitivity to triggers has gotten pretty extreme.

Damm what a bummer. No fun at all

which psychedelics? mushrooms? and what sort of dosages?

neverbreak

Maybe mushrooms helped cure my migraines. I have eaten about 2 ounces during my mushroom days. Not much but sure a great trip lol! Dosage anywhere from 1.8 grams all the way up to 7 grams in one sitting

it's possible! i don't suffer migraines, so can't comment with first hand experience, but one of my good friends does and she's used mushrooms at very low doses to successfully treat them. mushrooms i grew no less!

shit bro, 7g is a high dose! i take it you're talking about cubensis?

Yeah way to much for sure. That was my best and worst trip of my life lol! I even had people quacking at me like donald duck. An 1/8th of some fine mushrooms is at most you need imo :)

love shrumes, haven't done them in a while but when I did I never laughed so hard. Looks like a mixed bag. Some smoke to get stoned, some to medicate and some both. Being from Colorado I'm medicating right now.

I know psilocybin works on cluster headaches but not sure if it works for migraines also. Damn there's not much worse than getting a headache when you're tripping. . . Totally makes it impossible to focus on anything but the headache. Toothache is the same thing, it's no good tripping when you're in pain.

I used to smoke cannabis to get high all through high school and college, but used it off and on.......usually more on than off, lol.

Then, I quit for several years thinking I out grew it. Then I started having some medical problems and chronic pain. I went through this pain for about 2 years before I decided to give cannabis a try. It's weird cause I used to smoke all the time and really enjoy the feeling of being high but never in a million years thought it could help medically for anything. So, after being desperate to try anything to kill the pain, I retried cannabis and was pleasantly surprised how well it works for different ailments.

By the way, I'm in total agreement that using the word "medicate" for using cannabis is over used and many times misplaced. I think people are trying to bring more legitimacy to the cause by trying to change the terminology in hopes that it will influence peoples views of cannabis. That being said, I think it's fine to get high and it's fine to medicate but the terminology should reflect the situation.

Sometimes I like to get stoned/ripped/high/loaded/blazed with my friends.
Sometimes I like to medicate when I feel like shit.
But I never medicate with my friends. (unless they're sick of course)

Both for me. Getting high is great, can't deny that. But I will also smoke for pain sometimes.

Completely agree man, very well said.

I get migraines and I have not found ANYTHING weed related that helps. I've experimented psychedelics for this purpose as well, to no avail.

Pauly - What's your preferred strain, and how do you administer?

outwest
Hey bro, only strain I have found that worked for migraines was a recon phenotype. Some kinda LA conf. backcross from DNA. I forget the exact lineage but to my amazement it melted migraines to nothing. Unfortunately I ran it out w/o saving a cut.

I am the classic case too.Born in the early 70's,my parents smoked and grew in NJ,I started gettin high at 13. Moved to Cali in the 90's. Got my card to smoke legal. Now have been through a kidney and panc transplant + 15 years diabetes. Would not have made it w/o MMJ for a slew of reasons. It has been my lifestyle for so long I would not know any different, and believe anyone using it responsibly is benefitting regaurdless of legalities and terms. I'm gonna smoke weed til the day I die!

I am who I am, therefore I smoke. Why does the question of why matter? If I have to explain why, you wouldn't understand- since getting stoned explains everything and not getting stoned leaves you forever on the outside of an experience looking in. Kinda like SCUBA diving that way, only less fishy and floaty. But since I'm not hurting anyone, why not just leave me and my stoner friends the fuck alone to enjoy our liberty to smoke? Somehow, that just seems too simple. Too obvious. Maybe I'm just stoned. Maybe I think we should have a free country, even though I know full well we don't.

I smoked for 25 years and grew for 15 before the med law was passed in 2000... so I guess I'd have to say that I...um....just like to get high....

But like nebulius..I also use it to control pain. It's definitely not near as effective as the Oxy's I used to eat like candy...but then again...I don't "hit the wall" with cannabis like I did time and time again with the opiates. "Doctor please....some more of these...." Mick/Keef

Like tyy said...it doesn't really matter..... especially nowadays when they are issuing cards for damn near anything....

I've been puffing for over 32 years and have to say I do both. I've always enjoyed getting high. Unfortunately in my late 20's and 30's I discovered the apple hadn't fallen far from the tree. I had fallen into the same trap as my father, alcoholism. I spent years in rehab and AA to no avail. I tried periods without pot and things just got worse. Finally after getting professional help from a real psychiatrist I was able to break free from a horrible existence. I was growing Blockhead at the time. The ultimate validation came when a friend dropped in and wanted to pick up some buds. He asked if I minded since he was getting them for my psychiatrist. I told him I was thrilled. He never knew they came from me. Long story short, I saw him for about 10 months, he gave me the thumbs up to go and be free. That was over 10 years ago and I've not had a drink or desired one since. I smoke daily and love it. I honestly believe that if wasn't for cannabis I'd be a dead alcoholic. What an incredible plant.

I wish mmj offered pain relief for me but honestly it doesn't. When I am depressed and smoke I get more depressed and have a tendency to dwell on the negatives. So I don't smoke when depressed. As far as migraines go, I don't really get headaches, lucky I guess. I have arthritis in my hands and wrist, tendentious in my knees, arms and a semi bad back. I wish I could say it helped but it doesn't seem to alleviate pain with any of these. It does help me sleep but that worked when I was a teenager as well.

I am glad that there is relief for most of you as it adds legitimacy to the ultimate goal and thats being able to sit down and get stoned without looking over you shoulder.

Ive been getting high for 35 years but i also medicate now as i get older even though i never heard of this term until a few years ago.To me getting high is using it recreationally and medicating is using it to help with what ails you.I do BOTH.

Same for me. Help me put down the pills and the bottle. It got real bad for a while.

It's just the term medicate and smoking don't belong in the same sentence. Eating and vaping yes but smoking come on.....

Medicine can be administered in all sorts of ways. Smoking being one of them. Yes you should say your medicating instead of hey i am going to smoke one but i dont think there is anything wrong with them in the same sentence. Medicate by injesting. Medicate by vaporizing. Medicate by smoking. It's all good. That's just the way we administer our medicine
