Thought I would share something that happened last week at a collective/co-op(Van nuys/North Hills area) I went to, and at one time did some growing for until the management changed...

I was waiting in the Lounge area, and heard two guys who's voices started slowly getting louder. One was a grower who was asking for his money/donation. Said "he had only gotten $1000.00 of the 1800.00 he was owed. It had been 7 weeks and they kept giving him the runaround." He asked "to speak to the manager/owner by name(the guy that use to run the place)", and was told(by a voice with a heavy accent that was not understandable at some times) "he wasn't there, but would be back the next day or perhaps in 2 days." Which the Grower replied, "You've been saying that for 6 weeks".."I just want my 800, and I wont bother or deal with you again"..."I will even take 500. If you just give it to me today. So I wont have to "F" with you guys again"...To which the co-op guy replied "We dont owe you anything. Your stuff is gone. Get the "f" out"..The grower paused for a few seconds, and walked out of the back room into the lounge. At which point I got to leave as well..When I got outside I turned to him and said "Wow, the really Fing sucked. Sorry they are treating you that way"...He then said " yea but what can I do? If they wont pay my for the product that I gave them, and they already sold it..thats it, Im screwed"..
Of course I am paraphrasing most of this, but you get the point..Just another fun aspect of being a grower...

Oh there are things to do....

Growers that have good herbs need to stand up to these clubs and take payment at the time you give them the medicine. If they can't afford it they should get into another business. All they are doing is dealing your herb on the front, you deserve premium payment or interest if they take time.

Best line to give a club owner, "I don't do fronts."
They always say, "well, we don't pay up front"
That's when you tell them, "maybe you should look into running a biz you can afford!"
Then leave.

High quality gets paid for upfront, maybe mids can be fronted but when they try to pull some shit about 30day or 90day fronts, you gotta call them on it and tell them your not Pepsi-cola and they aren't a liquor store. They need to pay for their meds upfront, maybe then they will run a good biz, until then they will steal from peter to pay paul everytime!!

I wish I was in a business where people gave me the ability to make thousands of dollars per day, with my only cost being rent of a cheap storefront. Fucking A these dispensaries think they are god's gift to mankind when they possess no real skills and no socially redeeming qualities. Burn 'em down, I say.

An anonymous call to the DA's office should make that grower feel better. If he doesn't get satisfaction with local law enforcement, try the Federal DEA office in downtown LA. Call from a payphone if it makes him feel better. Let the DEA know what happened. Tell law enforcement who and where. Give club owners names, dates, and amounts. Keep yourself anonymous. They will ask your name. One trick they will try to get your name is to tell you that they will do nothing if you don't give your name. Just don't give it to them. Just tell them the story. If the first officer doesn't want to listen, call back and speak to a different officer. You will find just the right Cop who hates Cannabis and wants to put club owners in jail. Yes, that one Cop is out there right now waiting for your call. If I were a dispensary owner, the last thing I would do is cheat my growers. If a cheated grower continues to make calls, law enforcement will take notice. Maybe a visit by the feds will wise this club owner up.
Growers are now forced to take some action to combat this unfair practice. Unfortunately, a brick through the window will not solve the problem, although we would certainly feel better. Harass the police by calling several times. Harassing the police will bring that club to the forefront of their attention; fresh on their minds. If we use law enforcement to attack the clubs that do us wrong, then club owners will surely learn not to screw growers, as club owners are forced to spend thousands to keep their asses out of trouble. Right now, the clubs are law enforcements' primary targets. Just think about it. The police get the merchandise, profit and perpetrators to convict all in one location. It doesn't even require a search warrant or undercover investigation. Easy money for law enforcement. We can't standby and do nothing as club owners screw us over!
This is a problem that growers are going to have to fix for themselves in the short-term. If you have a better plan to keep those few unscrupulous club owners fair, then please do share. There are options. Maybe an anonymous call to the IRS? Call the local Better Business Bureau? Something! Get someone to take notice. You may be able to win something in Small Claims Court.

Don't get me wrong, the club owner is a complete scumbag, and there are many Paths to both handling the situation and seeking retribution. However, ratting on them in that context doesn't seem right. But again, however, if you can't go after the person through legitimate channels, like court, then you may feel like you have no choice. I guess ratting on the person may make you feel good and may keep the club owner from fucking other people, but it won't get you your money back. At that point it feels more like a vindictive eye for an eye act then an act of resolution. As they say, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

I see your point outwest but it is no longer about street code when you enter a club, it's business and if you're not doing GOOD business you shouldn't be doing business at all. So, I entirely agree with incognito.

let's all face reality guys. Our "business" is not like banking or a mortgage or anything. It's the wild west. If you front then you know eventually you are going to get screwed. Don't front and you won't get screwed. plain and simple. stop fing whining about you didn't get paid. Don't front and you won't have this problem. Next...

This "eye for an eye" sounds like philosophical rhetoric. Cliches are a waste of time and have no real value. It is not a violation to seek compensation when you have been cheated; whatever form the compensation may take. I guess "The Colonies" should not have had that "Tea Party" huh? Did "The Tea Party" as an act of vengeance solve anything?

Ya know at one point in my life I got everything 'on the cuff' and no one ever got fucked.

But I agree dirk, it is the Wild West and how right or wrong is defined changes from
Person to person.

Last time I checked we were no longer a British colony, so the tea party was quite effective in being am action that was the start of a desired consequence. Since ratting is the action and the desired consequence is ultimately to get paid or free your country, then there is no real driver if your not getting paid or in the case of the tea party you continue to live under tyranny.

I guess what I'm saying is that the tea party might not be the best example to make your point.

You are totally right cliches are cliche, but vengeance through being a rat solves nothing.
