I love CO so much. God, this makes me sound a hundred years old, but I spend most of my time outdoors in the summer gardening and Bird watching. Ten Great Blue Herron families nest and fish in this area from April-June. Bald Eagles, GoldenEagles, Red tails, Osprey, dippers, plovers, king fisher, flycatchers, oriole, night hawk, steller jay, flickers, Tanagers. Those are just the ones I can remember. I never got into fishing but its good to know you guys are out there enjoying the river!

Too much hash this morning, forgot to upload the pic.

not much of a outdoor activity..but...I like to stop at the yampa almost everyday for a couple tasty bowls. Sounds like there are a few farmers in the general area.

^^^ Got a place up there. Ill hit you up next time im up. Love me some Yampa

The tourist will be leaving soon and my favorite time in the Colorado Mountains is upon me. Right now the hills are full of people, just try getting down I-70 on a Sunday afternoon. That will all change in the next couple of weeks and for a brief period the mountains will belong to the locals. Aside from a few Aspen watchers and some drunk hunters the rv's and motor homes will be gone. Warm sunny days and cool crisp nights will be the norm for the next couple of months which will provide some of the best times to enjoy Colorado and the resources she provides. Love it here and would never think of living anywhere else.

On the Colorado River the other day and ran into a much better fisherman than all put together on this site. He doesn't need bait or flies to catch anything. He is so good that he can pick and choose the fish he wants. All I was catching was little ones and he goes and catches the biggest fish in the river on his first try. Hopefully some day with a lot of work I will get this good.

Off to river for afternoon float 12 miles will fish camera dead...

One day were were headed to town. Comming down our hill about to turn on highway I noticed a semi with something wadded up in drivers mirror. It was a bald eagle that flew into windsheild at 70 mph.
I carefully removed the eagle and put on ground. It hoppped around but did not fly. We took the bird to vet and 4 days later they released it.
Pretty tough bird to survive, the windsheild was shattered, glass all inside the cab, driver pretty shook up. Was glad to help
Floated 12 mile section of the Gunison yesterday 2pm till 8. Took a few shrooms, total blast. Caught a few fish, still kinda slow, massive midge hatch late fish were not really too keyed in, awesome time as usual on the river...

Dont worry guys, hes not taking your fish away. its a Canadian Goose.

Nice pics, what part of the state are you at? You must be at a lower altitude, the river behind my cabin is frozen so solid that you can snowmobile down the river.

I'm at 6500 on the western slope. This section is narrow and moves real fast. We are frozen over in spots forsure. I don't think we broke 20* for a month straight. Lows in -teens.
