Thank you Cartman and burn4me! I don't have that big of a crew yet but I am thinking they will be crawling out of the woodwork in about 2 weeks when the Berkeley Blues is ready:-)

We are at 28 days and here are a few new photos:

Ya better get to aggressively staking those plants or they are going to be falling all over the place in the next 4 weeks...scrog netting will be your best friend in future grows for sure or your going to be in the bamboo stake forest..I would also start defoliating them like crazy as well, big fans and water leaves really work against you in a production mode trying to get the highest quality, most weight and ease of processing as well as cut the chances of pest and environmental problems that can crop up with the quickness...I would already have half that foliage off the plants and in a bag by now..

I've gotta agree with TK on the cleaning up of the ladies. Being diligent now will pay off big time when it comes time for chop & trim.

In fact, I've got myself yet more trimming coming up this week (all by my lonesome, O joy) and all I can think about looking at your plants is the job of trimming. My mind is boggled by the amount of trimming. (can you tell? I don't really like trimming.)

My least favorite part of the job...

Last round we had about 75 to do.

Next round over 100.

Nothing like 8-10 hour days trimming.....

I am curious if you guys will be hand trimming everything or will you be picking up a trimming machine? There are a bunch of rentals available in the state. I have just never done enough to warrant one yet.

Start getting your trim crew secured well in advance of actually needing them and don't make the mistake of thinking you'll be able to do it all with in house labor..We bring in 10 or so people in for pretrim and prep and then 10-15 in to do the final trim, I like to get it all done in a day, 2 at the most..it is about 80 man hours for every 50 plants or 12k your harvesting, roughly 25lbs in the bag

Our trim crew is already "secured". We have netting on most of our flowering plants and bamboo stakes on the rest...I won't let them fall over:) As to defoliating......that is certainly a matter of opinion and I have always been hesitant to pick at my plants more than necessary in the past. We have defoliated a few tables just to see how it compares with not defoliating and I will figure out how I will deal with this in the future by how they turn out. The Berkelely Blues are not really very leafy and we have not yet seen much difference between defoliated and just left to grow as they are so far but again....when they are finished we will know better. A few of our other strains are very leafy and I am doing the same, defoliating some and leaving some to grow as they want to and the proof will be in how they all finish up.

Got our outdoor all planted and looking happy.....99 ladies blowing in the ever present wind:) Everything coming along pretty well in our flowering room that is now at 35 days. I have decided that since almost everything looks better after it is outside I will do all my veging outside this summer. Saves on power drastically. I am even experimenting with flowering using the sun only as well and moving tables back into dark room after 11 1/2 hours of sunlight. Will let you know if I get better production with sunlight or lights:) A couple of our strains just are not happy inside....Maui Wowie and another strain called Kitana specifically. Maui Wowie just is horrendous inside but within 4 days of putting her in the sunshine she has relaxed and looking lovely again and the crazy Kitana just is amazing outside and all shriveled and curled up leaves inside. I am just trying to give them what they want:)

Tomato cages are only temporary and will be removed in a few days when I am sure the plants are all good to go in our 35-40 mph winds but so far every plant looks good:-) We will be building much larger cages for them all shortly.

Yeah, might wanna do a spot check and make sure nothing is seeded as many pistils seem to have shriveled up, hopefully from a foliar or heat or drying out and NOT from pollen...

No hermies that we can find and we are pretty cautious about that. It was a bit warm when I took the photos so probably excess heat which is no bueno either. They were just sprayed about 6 hours earlier as well.

No WA REC card required Medusa. We "hire" who we want as long as they are over 21, no other requirements actually. Let me know if or when you want to come help out.......you are welcome any time:) There is always something to do. Won't need trimming help for another 2 -3 weeks though.

The WA Liquor Control Board in all their wisdom has decided to allow/push 20 retail shops to open on July 1st but they just found out a day or so ago. They are all scrambling big time to get their shops ready and looking for product and everyone is hoping that any growers that are in production will have some finished product by then. Every single one of them have contacted me looking for any amounts ready and delivered by July 1. I don't really think we will have any and if so it won't be much that soon. I am not interested in rushing any part of the process, flowering, drying, or curing, because there will still be a ridiculous need for it when it is perfectly ready and it is my credibility that rides on the quality of our product. I don't want to just throw it out there prematurely. I think it is going to be a horrible roll out to this. There are only 50 licensed growers so far and of those only a handful have been in production long enough to flower, dry and cure anything. I think shops will open, prices will be ridiculously high and then they will have no product for a few more weeks or a month or so. Not how I had hoped it would work out but nothing I have control on so I will just have to do the best I can for my product and release it when it is at its best quality.

Prices will most likely go way up lost360....retail, medical and black market I am thinking. If the recreational market is going to try to sell for $400 an oz the guy on the street is probably going to ask more for his as well. I don't know.....kind of bummed about it all...I really wanted this to go well but perhaps things will smooth out as the ridiculous LCB gets more growers licensed. In the mean time it is a very good place to be with a crop flowering, a second crop flowering, a third crop flowering, clones for sale, out door garden planted and things running relatively smoothly, with every single shop in the state set to open calling to see if they can carry our products.......literally! The system itself (and a bunch of hard work) put me in this very desirable position but still....I really wish it were different...better for the person buying the bag, better for the fate of legalized weed in general, and better for the retailers so they can make a reasonable living too.

I PM'd you Mr/Ms Pits but you could of course have done that yourself if you wanted to talk:-)

We do plan on employing as many as 10-12 people, mostly full time at $15-$20 per hour with healthcare and many other workplace benefits, but not just yet. I haven't made a penny for the 84-95 hour work weeks I have been pulling for over 6 months now. When I can make some money myself I will be hiring but until then it has to be a labor of love.....luckily for us it is:-)

Thanks so much:-) It is pretty freaking incredible! I am very disappointed in the way the Liquor Control Board is rolling this out though......I think July 1 is going to be UGLY when shops open with very little product priced ridiculously high and we may not even put any product out there until the first wave rolls out because quite frankly I do not want to be a part of it regardless of how much we need the cash. We have an Associated Press reporter coming out next week to get our take on the whole thing and take photos of our operation which is kind of exciting. Plants are doing great though...the outdoor garden looks wonderful....my youngest daughter and I did all our irrigation in about a day and 1/2 and are so proud of ourselves:-)
Here is a photo of my fat ass and my Zeus finishing up the last of the irrigation with gorgeous Mt. Hood in the background:
