@half baked @ftwendy

No reflectors. I take them off when I am doing half pipes or if the plants are getting too big. That's a 12' x 24' room with 9k and even with no reflectors it's really really bright in there. Without a reflector and depending on strain you can get much closer to the bulb as well.

Thanks bro might have to give it a try, I've thought about making my own hoods for them tbh lol

Just noticed My best plants were the ones in the 2 gal coco/hydroton watered twice aday
I am now watering three times a day with my Bag plants and twice with my Creamer containers
I feel Good about the size of plant v space and room in the Stable
Thanks for all the great Info C

Thats the ticket @FlyinJStable ! I had seen this along time ago over at Icmag a guy smashed it in a 4x4 tent 9 per light in those small white square pots. It has everything to do with being root bound and multi feeds. Now I wouldn't recommend growing a tree in a solo cup cause Im sure there's a point when it becomes counter productive.

Agree @Prime C and it shows in your grow
when I opened up the Creamer container and Basically had a tap root Maze for miles
I also wanted to add that feeding at a set time is a good idea as the plants develop a schedule as it were once I started feeding on a regular set time IMHO gives the plant an almost Coasting Zone,
One person I think @waayne calls it "riding the wave" as the plant follows a course and just never Stall out till the flush.
Lots of O2 and multi watering in the FlyJ hempy Coco Container.

2 gallon pots coco loco+ full strength dyna gro on drips = 2lb per 1k. NO CO2. I should mention i havnt phd or ppmd in about 8 months. Only problems i have had are when a dripper clogs. The plant drys up and shows some deficiencys instantly. When kept wet the whole time i have had no problems.

Just wanted to share a side by side. 4" pot vs. 1 gallon round pot vs rootmaker that is wider than a 1 gallon Round pot and holds a bit more Soil. You can see that the plants in rootmakers have a much better structure as they are growing wider and branching out better. In my experience stifling the natural progression of a plant with a small pot leads to a plant that will never reach its full potential given the same amount of time to grow. these 3 of each size pot were the best selected of 10. Meaning there were 10 4" and i pulled the best 3 for the photo etc..

I need to transplant 12 seedlings and I have to admit Cap, a pic dosnt lie The "rootMakers" seem to have an advantage and being the square uses all the space it can. Nice... still small, but able to spread out the roots a bit more.
OK I am going to go pick up 12 and give them an Honest run.
Thanks Cap

@Jenny I was using basket drippers from the hydro shop. They are pretty much open ended tubing with a screen. One per plant, 9 plants per 3x3 bed. I was getting about a 1/2 gallon of runoff per day for each bed, and watering in probably 3-4 gallons or so. @soopy DJM has had the game on lock for a minute now. That guy kills it. Same with @JACKMAYOFFER He is using 3 gal smart pots to grow 10' tall plants. I remember having a conversation about this when he was putting it together and we both knew you could grow a massive plant in a small pot as long as you kept it fed and watered.

I know @waayne will want to chime in here too at some point as he is a firm believer of the appropriate sized pot for the plant.

I am not saying you can't have a great run in a small container, but there is something to be said about a root bound plant as well. It's all about the veg time. I am 100% sure plants with a larger pot/root space will grow bigger, wider, quicker. Keep in mind DJM keeps his plants in veg for a really long time (like 8-10 weeks).

Cap....great pics....I've been in coco multi feeds in small/medium containers for a long time, now im thinking about moving on to beds....
1 question....I hear ya about bigger root space being bigger, Ive always found though in coco is if the container isnt pretty much totally colonized with roots everything kinda turns to shit, multi feed or hand water.....In those beds are you vegging under big lights for a while after planting to really max out roots before flip? Im just worried about everything getting too soggy, i think a 4x4 SP liner is like 8 bags of coir? Thats a lot of root space.

That is a great side by side experiment. People would probably look and say they are different strains if the buckets were cropped out.

Did you water them the same amount of times or did you water the smaller ones more frequently?

@namedul: they were watered according to needs. I can look at the surface and know how much to give them. I've been doing it too long I guess. :)

@ontheroad I am in 3x6 geopots. They take 8 bags to fill. I water them to runoff every 3-7 days depending on the week. I also use coco amended with 30-40% chunky perlite and overwatering is never really an issue. I'll see if I can upload a pic later of my roots. I do between 6 and 11 plants depending on what I am growing and how long I plan to veg. My current setup is a 36 day total veg. 27 in the root makers and 9 in the beds.

@FlyinJStable I have done the same experiment with 4" vs 6" rockwool cubes and the 6" always get way bushier/better structure. I don't want tall skinny plants with one leader. I want big fat ones with 4-6.

@ Capulator, how do i get your tea's? Ive made up my mind to grow in soil. But very confused with all the different type of base and amendments. Bought a few bags each FFOF and Warrior and RO to make a super soil, but after reading this and that really dont know which way to go. I dont mind buying different soils and such, just need a good foundation mix. Ive got me some good genectics and im ready to go if I can get the right soil and tea's.
Thanks,
Bowski

@Bowski - Capulator's beneficial microbes (the spores that make the teas you're asking for) are called 'og biowar' root, nute, and foliar packs. You should buy all 3 for best results. The og biowar advertisement is on the right side of your screen, second ad from the top of each page... look for the pin-up girl.

Best of luck
