I see there are coco growers active in threads why not look at there thread and ask if they can answer a few questions?

Hope this helps I’ve been working with coco for My last 3 grows and from my experience with it so far I’ve treated it basically same way as soil and as well as hydro.

Treating it like soil is extremely easy. I feed every water every 2-3 days no problems with soil nutrients fox farm trio started at 1/4 strength and worked my way to 3/4. (remember it’s a weed it will grow) cal mag is a must with coco I’m usually anywhere from 3-6ml cal-mg per gallon leafs usually get shiny green when your giving a good healthy amount ( one of those things that everyone has a different opinion on but I like my leafs nice deep green)

Now the hydro way
During veg I treat it like I said above the soil way since I don’t have a drip system in my veg tent
once I switch to 12/12 in flower tent with drip system I Water with nutrients twice per day 1hr after the lights on and again 2 hours before the lights off
This way works for me.

Now the amount of nutrients is mainly on your strain and how heavy of a feeder the strain is some are more than others you need to look that part up. But a good starting point is 1/4 strength and work your way up little by little like @Funk junky said it’s easier to have to add nutrients that the plants need than try and take it away having to flush etc....

OK i found this feeding chart so let me run this by you guys.

Can i do this? Make a 5 gallon bucket batch using the boost, grow, and calmag. So if im using half strength or 1/4 strength i can use a 1/4 or half of that mixture along with regular PHd water......then PH the whole batch and use?

Isnt half strength what i want to feed at the max in both flower and veg? Also, it says PPM = 1000.....so when i make it and my PPM is off what do i add to it so that my PPM is close?? How do you measure EC? And should i follow the Feed, water, water schedule it recommends or feed at every watering?

And one last thing, 20% runoff....is "runoff" going to happen in smart pots? and how much are you guys actually watering during veg and flower? Does a 3gal pot = 3 gal of water in order to water it? Just so i can get a feel of how much to actually water. TIA...

Ill update some pics tomorrow.

should i go ahead and just feed every feeding until i see that...keeping at half strength until it stabilizes?
Yes you can feed every water if you want that’s the great thing about coco you control your plants intake just as if it were hydro. but it’s very forgiving like soil so you can do every other it’s up to you and how much time you have if you want to mix nutrients every day and water you can if you want to go the easier way and do every other that works to. The veg stage can be very simple the plant will make it with minimal nutrients.

I looked around @Funk junky but didnt want to hijack a thread and shamelessly plug mine lmao.

Well one plant, when the lights are off, looks like it is overwatered. When the lights are on it looks ok. I think i will water/feed every other day. I know a lot of people say to water every day, but I just went about 1.5 days and it was still moist/wet toward the bottom of the pot. I dont think salt buildup and the exchanging of oxygen in the coir is going to be that detrimental if i wait an extra day.

Also, one of the plants looks clustered. The nodes arent evenly spaced apart....will this affect anything down the line? Yield, potency, etc etc??

Next time i prolly need to put more coir in the pots since the surface volume shrank significantly after i watered. I initially planted the seeds in dry coir (that was already mixed with perlite and PHd..just add to pot and plant).

Anyway here are the pics. Suggestions welcome.

WHere can i get some runoff pot holders to put the plants in so i can water them, and then just take the holder out and dump it. Right now im watering in my tub cuz of the runoff.

I looked at home depot and all that, couldnt find shit where i live.

The plants look fine they will look sad when the lights are off they are focusing on root growth at this time and when the light turn back on the plants look healthy because they are trying to grow into the light..
grab pot saucers for under your pots and you can either poor them out or if u have a shop vac use that

Everyone gotta start somewhere mate. That’s why we start in smaller pots. Don’t let it bother you about low soil you can add coco later up to cotyledons (your little round seed leafs). Yeah just keep moist but not soggy maybe use some root stimulator, you may see slow growth for a while as it will be growing root system

No real major changes. Everything seems to be lookin good. I do have one question though.

IS the plant that has nodes so close together going to be a problem/is it defective?

That’s what you want for your space. Keep everything tight. You can top now if you want

Havent updated in a while because everything has just been going regular.

Noticed last night that i may have some slight nute burn? You tell me. I have a watering today so should i just feed regular PHd water for this feeding since i do see slight nute burn and then go back to regular the following feeding.

Here are some pics. Coming along nice. I will cut and train this weekend. Hopefully i dont fuck up the mainline. Ill be watching some videos. Im trying to veg everything until ~Mid May.

Looks good. So how many weeks do you plan to veg? Not sure what you have for vertical room because they will stretch 2-3xs the size it is now.

What is that discoloration on the first 2 pics? do i need to dial back the nutes?

Im tryin to veg 8 wks....but after i cut and mainline ill have room for another 4 wks...i hope anyway, if not its fine. I think i am trying to get them about a ft tall, maybe a little taller and then flip
