Yep, shameful to slap a sin tax on medicine.

I was watching Bill Nye saves the world the other night, it was an episode all about cannabis. He went into a dispensary in Cali and bought a half ounce "for science". I nearly shit myself when it was rung up at the till, $200, USD, for a half ounce of flowers.... Disgusting. Pathetic, greedy pseudo-capitalist pigs. Was only expensive before because it was illegal. Weird how making it legal made it even more expensive...

Not defending, but I must say that owning a legal dispensary is not cheap, or for the weak at heart. ( I HAVE NO CONNECTION!)

There is staff, rent/or mortgage to pay, legal fees, State fees, taxes (Fed. Income tax too..interesting eh..LOL), and many other expenses of just running a business; not to mention the added expenses of running a business that is always in danger of a federal raid..no matter what the state law. The heavily regulated gaming industry here, served as the model for anything Cannabis related; which has helped keep the Feds out (except the FDA with CBD). Here's a biggy that folks don't think of....They can't use a bank, and the business is 100% CASH! What to do? I hear stories of heavily guarded warehouses with cash stacked on pallets! If true, that would really set them back..in spades, not to mention money laundering etc which is always a fear. Interesting problem when you think about it. Nevada is beginning a pilot program of making banking services available to legal MMJ entities.

NOW.....In my opinion, there is simply no reason for them to sell an inferior product at any price; and yet they do. PERIOD!
We are different here, since they are heavily frequented by tourists that don't care what they spend on a fling. I have a card and when rec went legal, prices went up and quality suffered even more.....I decided not to just grow, but to CULTIVATE my own high quality medicine and TBH..PURE FUN!

I 💯 understand (I at least have an inkling of an idea) how much $$$ it costs to own and run a dispensary. My (and im sure others) frustration isn't directed toward dispensary owners, they cant help for the most part the prices they set if they wanna stay legal. They are at the mercy of the government also, therefore dispensary owners are also being raped. Wonderful reason to grow!!

Well, maybe to run a "legally", overly and unnecessarily regulated and overtaxed dispensary.

I've got another friend who owns a black market dispensary that's still open for now. Without all the govt BS he cleared well over 400 grand last year selling $125-180 ounces on a tiny frickin island. Mark emery's dispensary in Toronto was bringing in that much in profit every week. I'm not buying the "it's expensive to run a dispensary" argument. Its only expensive when the govt decides to hyper regulate and mandate a bunch of unnecessary middlemen and then sin tax it at every turn.

But since they only tax the poor I guess..

Btw, 73.1 miles. That's how tall jeff bezos'money pile would stack, get this, in $100 bills. Yet he pays no federal taxes.

Something tells me this game is rigged.

It is,
In your favour if you are a natural born subject.
But you have to have the knowledge and the money to defend your shit in court, because the government is run by dicks(people will act in bad faith just because)

all this is pretty new, commerce used to be illegal until recently.
Thats why you need a business "licence"

the tax stuff is very complex and you need a deep understanding of estates, dignities, dominions, and tenures.

basically property tax you pay in lieu of service on squired estates(ie fee simple/full dominion), which is a form of free scutage.

income tax implies that you as a person, are in possession of an incorporeal estate as of a fee simple, and the government basically owns you and as such has capital dominion(per baroniam) so they have the right to tax any increase in value.

the crown in right, holds absolute dominion or allodial title
(not relevant but cool to know i guess)

but here is what I meant,

you hold everything as an estate, EVERTHING, incorporeal, corporeal, real, movable, personal, chattel, tangible, intangible, &c&c&c

you hold it all as of a fee simple.

and there is only two was to acquire property, by inheritance, or by purchase

and the only way you can purchase something is to take possession of something that someone else doesnt own.

you also cant disseised of an estate without a trial, so if you hold your money as an estate.......

the country is literally your oyster, you are entitled to the land you need to build an estate capable of maintaining your dignity.
but the government will fight you so you will have to get an order from a justice on the QB to have your title registered.

but once you understand these things,
things like https://www.alberta.ca/unclaimed-property.aspx become much more interesting

thats exactly what "they" want you to do ;)

what if I told you everything is shit because so many people have been tricked out of taking up their birthright
and all anyone needs to do to fix it, is take up their proper spot in the grand narrative of universe
Right, cuz they cant kill all of us now can they? But they def gonna kill the 1st ones to stand up and I think thats what makes people not want to. Which is exactly what "they" want. For everyone to get f**cked by them and be quiet about it. Also part of why I grow in an "illegal" state because it's a healing plant that "they" dont want us to have unless they sell it to us at insane prices...I believe its our duty to grow!

Dayum! I'm on the other end of the country from socal but I feel certain that whenever it IS legal here; if they try & run it like that then no dispensary is gonna hurt my customer base. People dont take kindly to any product at insane prices. If its truly top shelf people may be ok with paying a lil more (keyword: little) but like you said a large majority of people esp people who need it for medicine have exhausted their wallets on medical expenses period. I don't think it's fair at all for the gov't to tax cannabis SO MUCH MORE than most other business sectors. Tax cannabis at the same rates for a start!

Me personally I don't mind the rec tax here since some of it is getting dumped into the schools. Even if it is a small drop (funny it's millions) in the bucket its still a drop. The rec tax is something like 30% + local sales tax. Med on the other hand is like 3% (edit plus the 15% if i member right so 18% maybe? been a year since i went to a disp could be wrong point is its less then rec) I think last time I looked. The only problem I see is getting rid of med for the sole reason of taxation. It has happened in other places. I have a feeling in the next 10 years it will happen here but hope it doesnt. Med here also has it's upsides like over 200mg in an edible and being a member of a club and getting a pretty decent discount (as long as its a good med spot with good weed - but you are signing over your plant count to them). It lets the schwag people push their lbs trying to get them cheaper then the next spot and the people with qual (lol) product charge about 40 bucks an oz more and stay there and stay in business. I mean you can get an oz under 100 bucks out of a shop here even after taxes if you really wanna smoke that stuff....

Have you made and used concentrates? I smoke, dab, do tinctures and still get blasted 24x7. My key to NO tolerance is MANY many different strains in my medicine cabinet. Like over FIFTY to date!

I mix them up daily..even hourly. I only rosin press for concentrates (no butane etc.) and make ice water hash as well. Tincture is great for nights (in caps for edible effects) and/or sublingually for a faster high, but shorter lasting (THC goes thru the liver that way)

We never had concentrates (other than hash) back in the day, and I always loved hash..Now I can dab full melt fresh frozen hash and that, imo, is the finest and best yet.
Pressed up some outdoor yesterday and it looked great..BUT it was impossible to get my bangers clean without heavy duty soaking and an ultrasonic parts cleaner. next time I will have to use a filter bag and I hate using them.
