from seed those would be about a month in

The solo cup to 1 gallon transplants i showed the other day were 16 days from sprout. Pretty close to Aqua’s at 8 from roots. I consider sprout when the cots are unfolded and up. Thats under 10 2ft. Flourescent T-5HO bulbs in a 3x3 tent.

Also the plants are F-1 fems. Very fast and vigorous. We should give a range cause different types of clones and plants grown.

DWC is cheap and easy... Just gets a bit of a pita if your growing bigger plants cause I know mine with just over 4 weeks veg were drinking over a gal a day each.
You just need to plan. Ahead with it as with anything either have a top off res for it ...And water level tubes are a must have I believe as they do more than just read the water level as u can do water changes hook up a pump to it..U can also use it to add nutes or pH the system and use a turkey baster to mix it the air stones will help too...You will fit about 2.5gal in a 5gal bucket but it will depend on how deep the netpot is as well on how much water it can hold...If you scrog your plants size isn't a issue ESP if you veg and flower in the same spot and can scrog in veg won't be a issue you could even use 3in net pots....

I scrog... But that would be a pita in DWC without a crafty scrog net... I run RDWC. So after my scrog net is in... I don't usually touch the buckets until harvest. All my testing and adjusting is done in the epi (res)

The issue I have is it's only a 4x4. I also found last time with my timer mishap. I had root in the pipes and by harvest I had about 1.5 -2 gallon of water and the rest was roots. It was rediculous the amount of roots I had. I should have taken pics.

I've always done my dwc in 5-gallon buckets and it does get crazy trying to keep them all topped up, its definitely a big con to dwc over rdwc but there are pros too. I have one going now in a 10-gallon rubermaid to see if it helps cut the workload down a little.

Yeah it's a really great way to get started and requires much less equipment. Honestly I would say it's the place to start if you wanna do hydro. Seen plenty of people just decide hydro is not for them. A python is a good option to ease the workload. I used them for years in all my aquariums until I built a system. At one point I was well over 30 tanks if you count the fry tanks and did weekly 25%-50% water changes depending on stocking level at the time.

Funny story when I build my new system I didn't have a gravel vac on it cause I was lazy. Most of the fish I bred were mbuna and discus. The mbuna are mouth brooders so they keep the eggs in thier mouth and after they hatch until they get a bit bigger. They just let them out to eat but scoop em all back up after or if they feel threatened. Well I stuck the hose in and one curious mother swam up to it while I was half assed paying attention. It almost sucked her right into the hose her face was stuck in and I watched it suck all the fry out her mouth. Was about $300 in fry go right down the drain.

After that it was a vacuum and pantyhose over it to make sure it didn't happen again.

When I've got max buckets going I have a 55 gallon trash can that I place near my plants and fill it up using a hose from the utility sink and mix my nutrients in there. Then I use an anker powerhouse (think giant cell phone battery with 110v outlet and an on/off switch) with a water pump to move the mix from the trash can to each bucket. Still has to be done way too often though.

When I ran my dwc I had a Ac outlet with a remote that you can plug anything into they have them at harbor freight for like 15 only and comes with 3 outlets you can use which is what I run all my h2o pumps on so if there ever is a issue I can easily shut it off and check things out and does wonders for filling or draining too Just a click of a remote and it's easy to switch to other plants w/o getting water everywhere

Ok this old man is ecstatic! I figured out how to take pics on this dam phone in that light. I can set it to 3000k and it auto adjusts.

Ok now update: 9 days in the system. 11 days from sprout.

Air temps: 83F
Leaf temps: 76F
CO2 still sitting around 800-1000. Turned the controller on now and is set to 800ppm.

Lux: 22k feel like I could get away with a bit more once my mistake recovers.

Water temp: 70f

Ppm adjusted to 400 (130ish tap) 270 mega crop.

No added growzyme it hydrogaurd.

I had a mishap Sunday while looking for roots. I dropped one and hydroton and all including plant came spilling out onto the floor. It's not happy but recovering and you can see the amount of stunting in 3 days from the pics.

We have roots on 3 now. Pics in random order. Can you tell the one I dropped?
