Do you soak it good then dry cycle before you use it?
Yes I pre-wet it, but I don't dry it if that's what you're asking, I use it right from the pre-wetting bucket, then into the mixing bucket and then into the plants pot

I can get online here too but the shipping is about 70 bucks a bail so yeah, no.
I don't know if you have Agway stores in Florida... they are farm supply outlets and hardware stores. A bale of Promix BX was $27, the manure/compost mix was $3.99. I'm pretty sure that Agway is nationwide... you wouldn't believe how much you can find and save compared to Loews, Walley Mart, or God forbid... a grow shop.

This is what I can find in Florida and it’s $22 a bale at ACE HARDWARE . For some reason they can’t ship the hp here? Not sure why I guess it’s some Florida regulation

I misunderstood this question. I plant right in it. No watering beforehand. And i dont pack down the soil mix too much. I let the water do that.
I've been unpacking promix bails into a big Sterlite bin to loosen & wet down prior to filling pots, I plan on sterilizing the medium with a hydrogen peroxide solution this time to kill anything bad that might be in the medium. I won't be staring up with this for a couple months after my garden starts are outside, my new digs, I put together this weekend, I really needs a humidifier next.

I live in Toledo & can get that BX for about that much at Ace hardware but the question is why pay 27 vs cutting what I already have, or can get for 11 bucks myself, but thats just me.

It doesn't claim nutrients but it states that nutrients are only needed for heavy feeders, I can contest to this as I've used it for several seasons for vegetables w/o much feeding needed.
Lowes seems to stock MX but at twice the price of what I can get all purpose for on sale at Menards plus they are presently out of stock, I hate paying double for something unless I'm convinced its really superior, if it comes down to added perlite I can buy 2 cubic ft for about 16 bucks at Home Depot & cut myself.
I bought that same bale last year and I didn't like it. There may have been other factors involved but I won't get iot again. Right now I see no sense in Brand name and I like the cheap mix I'm using just as well as ProMix.

Unless there's a good reason to pay more this $30 taxes in Cdn last and works as well as any other I've found.

Well like I said I can get Promix slightly cheaper than this "cheap" mix, I've otherwise been happy with it, didn't know if there was anything cannabis specific that made it bad to use. I don't know If I misunderstood & you were speaking of MX rather than All Propose though. 🤔

You can get ProMix Cheaper than $22.50 all in for compressed 3.8 cubic ft? Good deal !

I got a deal at the grow store this should last a good year, $91.17 with tax.
Ya🤩 you bet that's a deal. A year you say? I go through a bag every 8-9 months 20 - 25 plants/pots
3 gallon max size. Remember though US dollars to Cdn dollars that $ 91 US = $130 Cdn = $32.50/bale Still a deal because that stuff is $ 39+ tax a bag locally although I've never tried to buy 4 at a time.

Using 5 gal bags and am being liberal in my estimates, they sell HP $34.99 a single bale, I was going to go to another garden store that priced it 2 bucks less but when I saw 4 BX for $85 it seemed too good of a deal to pass, now that I checked the ProMix site this isn't the BIOFUNGICIDE variety listed under their cannabis recommendations but I don't know how much that matters.

The stuff I use is very much the same with its perlite/vermiculite/peat nice airy with few added nutes to fk things up. It buffers the ph very well and I'm real pleased with the VPN30. I have no Bio fungicide in mine you should be fine with it.

Not packing it down is important with promix or other peat mixes. I like to get in there and use my hands to grind it up really fluffy and then just gently lift and drop the pots to settle it into place, and plant cuttings Into it without pre wetting it. Then I water sparingly around the outside of the pot to settle it in.

It actually says to not pack down and let the watering in do it right on the bag.

I find I have to pre wet it otherwise the water goes straight through it. I just mix in enough so that when I'm transplanting the stuff will stick to the sides of the pot I'm transplanting into. Then water or feed depending on its needs. I don't transplant when they're wet and like to do it when they need water or food. Giving them liquid after transplanting helps seat the plant into its new home so I water /feed as normal.

I just slowly pour a cup or two of water in evenly first and let it penetrate. Then finish watering after some minutes. Had to do this with ocean forest too.
