Maybe @Aqua Man
@Moe.Red
Or some guru either of you could recommend can point me in the right direction.

The high THCV strains listed on the interwebs are non existent. Are there any easily accessible regular seeds I could get my hands on that anyone knows of?
I got Hawaiian banana kush x ultra shark i wim thats native Hawaiian grower i win of internet and another one sativa landrace called small axe its grape something x bodyslam

Don't sweat the Durban..You've been more than generous including us in this project...I'll send you some of what I have, or will try to source more for you..You do what you feel is best for the project..Who bred your Durban beans?

Yeah, I second this. Just let us know what you need.
You guys got any testing you want to do with respect to freeze drying or curing or anything? I'm gonna freeze dry some of each plant.

I wonder what the difference in cannabinoids is with different curing methods, especially the minors like CBG CBN etc. Could maybe do a series of 8 TLC tests?

First would be the 5 plants freeze dried and tested right away.

Second would be at the end of air drying and the start of cure.
I
<snip>

If we wanted to split the curing into 2 methods we could do that too. Maybe to burp or not to burp? Brown bag or glass? glass vs plastic? I dunno.

I expect I'm going to get a lecture for this, but the fact is I really don't know if, nor have I seen any studies that verify that, cannabinoid concentration is affected by curing, other than passive degradation, e.g. THCA ---> THC ---> CBN, that happen through passive oxidation? It seems overtly that terpenes are affected, because curing is mainly about flavor, right, but you obviously belive there's another benefit to it? I prefer whole- plant (or whole-bud, if you will) edible, so curing is just a small of a part of my process.

I agree with this. I'm still very interested to see the tlc results in case I'm wrong though!

Ah, don't put words in my mouth Kemosabe, that is just not sanitary 🙃

What I believe is the degradation over time you mention, along with the breaking down of sugars and plant matter like chlorophyll that make bud that is destined for smoke taste better. I also believe significant terpenes are lost in this process. These are things that I have read and they fit with my personal experience.

What I believe is that there are a whole host of other beliefs out there with regards to curing and storing (lots of which are consistently reinforced by places like this) that are just not true, and without a formal test that people can see and agree upon, there will continue to be people that adamantly defend their position. Hell, even after proof there are those that will stick to the earth is flat. This testing is not for those people. This test will serve those that genuinely are curious and would change their beliefs based on new evidence. We had an example just a few comments ago -

lets dry in a dehydrator - no way that makes it taste like hay.

It's easy to dig your heels in on one side or another and defend your convictions, what is difficult is being truly open minded yet thinking critically to avoid becoming a cult member. I'm sure there are people feeling uncomfortable just reading this. Challenging beliefs is not something we are wired to do easily, your conscious has to step in and push out the subconscious need to get along, need to feel you have a grasp on the world, instinct to protect your own thoughts, etc. It takes a little practice and often a new mindset. I could not have thought as I do now at the age of 20 - my brain would not allow me. Some of you reading this may be there as well. Here's a chance to grow a little in support of a thing in your life you love.

So, I have a harvest
I have several different ways to dry and or cure
I have the ability to test our beliefs with empirical data
Why not put some of these notions to bed once and for all?

What I typically do is freeze dry the same day of harvest and process immediately. I believe that is the best overall product for my needs. I leave open the possibility I am wrong. That's how the scientific method works.

What I would like to do (maybe I need a new thread for this) is to perform a whole host of tests. Lighting. Harvest. Storage. Hydro vs Dirt. ETC. Put the data out there in the wild. A rising tide lifts all boats equally. We could all improve as growers if we do this right and have an open mind. Let's use this lab and every opportunity such as a harvest to test something controversial, even if it has nothing to do with THCV. Whatcha think?

So, my humble ask my fellow growers - help me design a test that checks all the boxes, solves for as many variables as possible in the shortest time, and whose results will be accepted by the vast majority of participants here. Then lets do the same on all the other things! Like UV and Far Red. LED vs. HID. Full spectrum vs. partial. When to harvest for maximum cannabinoids. Testing claims made by manufacturers, seed companies, etc. Hydro vs Dirt. Sterile vs. Organic. The list is huge. We could have a lot of fun.

Hey Toado,

I really appreciate the offer.

Tonight will start the testing on this JtR. It is still possible that it could work like the DP for me. So let me play with this a bit. But yeah, I'm gonna push thru and grow out this last DP plant I have from that set of seeds just in case.

Either way I will be OK.

I've dried in a dehydrator many times and it always smells better than when it's dried right.

Question: What is a Master Breeder?
Answer: A Master Breeder has mastery over the cannabis wheel. The wheel being a pie shaped graphic depicting the four components of cannabis which are; Medicinal, Yield, Characteristics and Effects.

Examples of Medicinal are seizure and anti-inflammatory properties.

Yield encompasses the size of the plant and its vigor in different climate zones.

Characteristics are color, taste and smell.

Effects are: sleepy time, creativity, sexual arousal etc. A Master Breeder can with the help of a well stocked seed bank, first design and then create a new strain from the four parts of the cannabis wheel with certainty and deliberation. A Master Breeder calls their shot before they attempt to make it. There is no slop! No guessing. No crossbreeding to see what happens. A Master Breeder knows what is going to happen.

It takes 7 generations minimum and thousands of phenotypes to stabilize a strain so that every seed is an exact duplicate of the parent. It also takes up to five years to stabilize that strain unlike crossbreeding, which takes only months to pick one phenotype to mother clones of which there will be NO seeds.

A master breeder can make you a new strain in five years, but with certainty!

Are you saying you are growing THC victory now?

my goal is to obtain tncvictory in the reg.version by crossing a related plant, further selecting the tncvictory and backcross phenotypes

That's awesome. I'm glad you found this thread. Please let us know how it goes, and let me know if you want to do any testing!

I "think" I can.

Very fast up. Racy. Need to do stuff, but still clearheaded.

All appetite goes to Zero.

Lasts 45 mins or a bit more.

I have not done a proper test tho to determine if it is only when combined with THC or other cannabinoids / terps. If this THC Victory turns out to be the real thing, that will all happen next and a proper understanding of effects on many different people will get reported here.

You can help us with that process if you like. Reach out to me via PM if you do and we can work out some details.

I've built my own still out of a stainless steel keg..and have even done so with old stainless steel pressure cookers, but you're on to a new path my friend..
