how often do you encounter root rot with those three products and what medium do you use them in, and is it dwc, aeroponic?
what are your techniques for defeating pythium??
I only fought it for about 2 months on my first hydro grow, which was less than a year ago. Since then ive upgraded from dwc to rdwc, still using only water. Ive never grown in soil or coco or used perlite. I could upgrade from RDWC to AERO, but im more interested in the fogponics. Right now I have my hands full, but I have a feeling I will be using fog or aero in a greenhouse one day. I have no need for aero on my small setup. Plus theres the fog aspect that most dont understand. Supposedly you can have a 2 stage aero, one with fog and mist. . idk lol. Its to complex and the gains are not worth my time. So just simple roots submerged in water is my game. I always use a pump so my water is recirculating always. I always use bacteria and keep living organisms in my water(LIVE SYSTEM)instead of chemicals aimed to destroy all living organisms in the water (Sterile System).

In my eyes its all about prevention instead of combating it. Once it overtakes your roots, its one hell of a process to get rid of it, takes about a week, IF you fixed the root cause.

Prevention in my eyes would be down to light leaks. Most big systems have alot of light leaks. If your temps are over 74f you will prolly get it too just due to the growth higher temps encourage. I run 73F now, from my understanding the warmer the water, the faster the growth, but you will also grow pythium. Since I built my system myself, I eliminated all light leaks obviously. So I have 2 systems, the one with 30 gallons lasted 60 days before I dumped it. I added 30 gallons by the time it was 60 days lol, but then i transplanted to flower.

Anyways, once you figure out how to prevent it, you can focus on how to tune your system.

Search aquamans cure or root rot, its a sticky thread under this hydro section. If you have root rot now, you need to make a thread on that lol. If your asking how well my Hydroguard(bacteria) works, well I dont even look at my roots anymore. I scrog the plants down so hard I cant actually pick the netpots up and out to look at my roots. I did last grow, a month deep, perfect white, then at the end of the 2 months in the flower system still perfect white. So yea im not even gonna look at them now. I even cut the hell out of the roots during transplant. . . the girls never flinched

My thread is "6 strains in the same hydro system" if you want to study my system.

plants def seeming happier with my lowered ppm, and started mixing the enzyme in last night.

One of my plants is having some growth issues .. and the burning on the leaf is new. my guess is the amount of pH buffer i shot into my water. when my ppm is only at 300ppm~ right now. Initially it was around 200 but my pH kept lowering and i had to reup it...

When your water levels fall your ph,ec,ppm will all change. Before adding more ph to adjust levels you might just need to add more water to the rez. I used to fill the rez every week in seedling stage, every few days in veg stage and every couple days in flower. Keep in mind that when you add new water to the rez than the ec/ppm will drop. This also shows that the plant is eating the nutrients.
When your rez gets stabled than this process is easier as the levels isn't going to spike crazy.

I’d be topping off more often but im almost positive my water levels have not dropped, ive successfully plugged all places water could leak and i can no longer tell if the water has dropped any amount

well its in a tote so water can't leak, unless there is a crack or hole in the body of the tote.
evaporation and plants drinking. have a line mark and watch the levels.

some ppl change their plant from soil to hydro, i hope that is not the case here?

No not the case they’ve been here since sprouting

and okay gonna go find a pen thats waterproof

use the chart @tobh gave you for a reference on stabilizing the rez.

so im having the problem of that chart suggesting an immediate rez change when that was my most recent action.
for example i mixed my new rex at below 200~ and my pH then began to deplete while my EC rose, absolutely fucking perplexes me.

not sure if it is buffers or what, my guess is definitely some other microbial or something miniature that i don’t want, ive been adhearing to that chart provided and this one

this is my chart of my pH and ppm for today
I’m not sure why ppm spiked at midnight, i mixed enzymes around 10, but both on a steady rise afterwards

this chart is missing 3 pages and its a never ending loop. when it says rez change and you know for a fact that you juust changed the rez, than just remove some of the water and just add pure water in there. also, did you do a proper clean before using enzyme?

no i hadn’t, just dumped em into my system

i think i mentioned a few times that you would need to a proper clean with bleach, hydrogen proxies, and few rounds of tap water to wash and remove any bleach or hydrogen peroxide residue. Also, when you are adding your ingredients make sure to add them in order they are meant too. Enzyme is the last thing you do after your ph adjustment.

alright, ive done this once already, the swan brand h2o2 is up at my local dollar store, imma go buy a few and swap my yellow top into another tub with ro water and a clean air stone while i clean the aeroponics system or whatever terminology someone would label this system....

i think im ready to explore some better tech..

How does that fogger tech work on mitigating dry spots in the root zones? i.e. how well does it prevent pythium compared to the rdwc you use now

before you go spend more money and get few other things you don't need, tell me again what you got. I gotta remember what everything was. also, if you can upload some new pictures ec, ppm,ph

Hello guys! im not one really to post much on a forum, anyhow i could rly use some help!
My pH and ppm keep rising! I know im not losing water and i cant figure out whats up, i have some ideas but im not positive on a solution so any advice is much appreciated:)
this is my second grow,
im using sensi grow a& b with House & Garden Roots excelurator,
ive noticed some orange spongy flakes and ive tried adding some dr zymes into the rez but it hasn’t seemed to do much,

That's a cool setup, the graph thing, really nice to be able to monitor your nute solution like that. Not to mention have it all automated, you just plant a seed and come back in a few months?

Anyways, if you are using city tap water like me, mine is 300ppm 7.7pH, absolute trash water, not really good for anything. I will pH my water down to 5.5 pH and then, next day it is 7.0 pH again. I can pH down the stuff down like that for at least a week, before it seems to calm down a little bit. I am thinking about taking some bark and putting it in a sock and then put that into the res to buffer the water so it will stay lower with less vinegar used. Also looking for other ideas, that one I found on an aquarium forum and responding to your post made me think of it again.

If you come up with any solutions please share.

Forgot to say another thing I have heard but not tried yet is if you are using tap water or similar, is to cut it in half (or whatever fraction is necessary), with rain, r/o, distilled, etc. to lower the ratio of whatever is causing it to rise so quickly.

positively i got some algae, and definitely some salt build up.
Im gonna use the bleach/ hydrogen peroxide to clean my aero system and flush the hydroton with ro water to hopefully stop those two things

i guess it doesnt help with an orange shirt to try an show orangish roots
