The Crystal Palace is back, now with a Spiderfarmer SE5000.

Gotta say, the HPS side, is now catching up and surpassing the LED side as of the last 48 hrs, as you can tell from that quick video clip... interesting. Smallest plants are under the SF4000. Biggest are between the SE5000 and HPS.

Hahahahahaha 🤣
I like that, think I'll keep it.
Yes

So I've been planning a coco grow/setup for a few months now.. would you say most of your rockwool inputs/schedule carries over to coco 1:1? I was thinking I could use the coco medium and still base the rest of the grow off of what I've learned from your rockwool grows. I also read a bunch of coco stuff from Aqua Man.

Absolutely, especially if you use small pots like 1 or 2 gallon. I'd run a 2 gal coco grow exactly the same as I've run this one.

Possibly dumb DLI/EC/uptake question. Assuming you're in the early stages of veg and you were feeding at a ridiculously high EC of say 3.0 but your DLI is in the low 20s would you still get nutrient burn or would the plant only take what is needed because of the amount of light given? On the flipside, is burn caused by a too high DLI and overabundance of nutrients available to the plant in it's stage of growth? This is assuming everything else is on point, temp, RH, etc. Obviously, CO2 comes into play as well but i'm trying to keep the question simple.

alright, call me ignant. wtf is the difference between a hps horizontal mount and a hps vertical mount? aside from orientation of bulb. is there some science there that i don't know about? them hps girls are thicc. LED girls are fine and all, somethin' i'd bring home from the bar. but those hps girls are somethin' i'd write home about. ya know what i'm sayin

I know what you're sayin...
Vertical hung bulbs give the plants all reflected light, so you don't get the burn from the radiated heat that comes sideways off the bulb. Which means you can put them way closer to the plants as long as you have good air circulation. These things are reading almost 1200 ppfd and my hand is quite comfortable at the canopy.

Horizontal bulbs have a much hotter "hotspot" directly beneath them. I used to run diffusers on them when I ran them but still got overheated spot burns in the middle of the canopy beneath them sometimes. Had to hang them higher. First time I used parabolic I got roughly the same yields, but the canopy was more consistently lit with no hotspot and resulted in a much more even canopy. Which led to a more consistent and higher quality end product. Never went back.

The guys ive seen run vertical here have them near in the canopy lol in big room but were hanging more of them. plants had plenty of room between them too like 3-4ft or so..were huge motherfucker bulbs too..
Yep loads of ways to use these vertically, I've seen gardens laid out like a chessboard with plants on black and lights on white with the lamps right down in the canopy, no reflector at all.

a lot of the old school vertical setups i saw were large RDWC setups in the configuration @Dirtbag explained. growing trees. always assumed it was because there was enough airflow it was more cost efficient to run em vertical. there was this father and son here for a while that did a liquid cooled vertical setup. been almost a decade since that thread, shit looked cutting edge at the time. or, there were the vertical farms... wtf were those called... looked like a fuckin rotating cylinder.... fuck can't remember what they were. all over high times and shit circa 2005ish. ran vertical single ended bulbs, a couple of em in the center. rambling now, onto my sixth ipa. fuck i gotta work tomorrow.

I have to say... both sides of this room look killer in their own ways. It's really packin on mass daily, the buds are growing before my very eyes. So far, sliding into an amazing finish.
