So there is a direct correlation between pressure/temperature and yield. Not heard much talk about micron size though. Effects quantity and quality as well. All very valid points I might add.
Seems the most prudent approach would be to decide the end use and work backwards. A
Anywho, thatโ€™s todayโ€™s stoner thoughts๐Ÿ˜
Micron definitely has an effect on both but not as much as heat and pressure. Its hard to "ruin" rosin with the wrong bag. Imo bags affect yields more than quality as long as you stick to 120s and under. 160s are okay but thats where you can see the plant matter mixing in sometimes.

Got ya, but again end use. Iโ€™m way too old to be toking on rosin. Except what my 20 something boy burns ALL my rosin goes into edibles. Takes a gummy to a level I never dreamed of.๐Ÿฅด

Good chatting with ya gas!

Quick question:
Is it possible to press two times.
So first press is low temp to get the good stuff, and then higher temp and pressure to get the rest?
I know absolutely nothing about pressing just wondering.
Possible yes. Worth it? Not imo. Second press is going to be shit. Better to go with the one press and use pucks for edibles or something. As @jadins_journey said above

Bro, you ever tried these little silicon jar things? I used those and I feel your pain:View attachment 2626938
Iโ€™ve got them in 2 & 26 gram sizes. Makes rosin work a lot cleaner
I posted a photo a few months ago my rosin was stored in one of those and on the edges it imprinted the same color as the jar after melting it, it went away but it was strange made me go to glass for storage

As for pressing over 60% otherwise it sucks back in all you pressed out. Smaller batches give more.second press gives maybe 10% of first yield not worth the time in my opinion.

If you manage 20% you are a pro .10-15% is realistic depends on strain.

You can press trim as well i managed half a gram from 20g if i remember.its a fifferent high but still good.

And after done with pressing pressed pucks are amazing for edibles 20-50g in a 200g of butter gives great high.

You can do alcohol wash as well but i havent diped my toe in that.mafe green dragon but not my type of drug

For me to get passed the 10-11% yield I had to look at the flower going in. More importantly the moisture content. Next time you press give this little trick a try.View attachment 2627274
Cover and let sit overnight. Youโ€™ll go from 10 to 15%
Came out decent batch, 60 grams flower gave me 12 grams rosin so Iโ€™m more than pleased. One trick thatโ€™s important to me is that cardboard peace I use to move the pucks off the press. Handy I tell ya.
4 minute press:
60 seconds @ 10 psi
Increased 1000 psi every 30 seconds
Max 5000 psi

Do you like the 160 bags?
Iโ€™ve only used one once, but it was the most success press Iโ€™ve down, though probably from the starting material quality

Thatโ€™s all I use. Tried others but 160โ€™s give me yield. I respect others goals when pressing but the bottom line for me is grams

Iโ€™m going to get a set of the 160โ€™s. I really like the end result of the 120s but would like to try and increase in yield.

All things press related is a thread im starting for all things press related. Machine size, brands, product to be pressed, topic discussion, tips, tricks, successful pulls, un successful pulls, pictures, questions and videos are what its about : )

Iโ€™ll start by saying Iโ€™ve only pressed my own home grown with a vice and hair straightener hahaha! I had one good press and one total fail. With those two presses I learned the importance of humidity of product, along with a few other little variables. But I know for sure there are still some fails in my future of pressing.
I have ordered a 12ton press that Iโ€™ll be pairing with the dulytek 4x9 heating plates and controller, itโ€™s gonna be sick!!! Hahaha. The press should be here next week and the heating plates im hoping to get ordered in a couple of weeks. Im using this time to harvest my current run and letting that dry. Along with maybe playing around with the press when it gets here and the hair straightener just for funnzies! (ill post EVERYTHING) hahaha!

Im going to start my first few presses with some 160 micron filter bags 2โ€x ?โ€ So far I can only find a pre press mold with the dimensions of 2โ€x 6โ€ and I would like at least 7โ€ up to 8โ€ in length.

Iโ€™ll keep yโ€™all posted on my setup happenings! Until then and beyond, load the shit out of this thread with your press related everything! : ) โœŒ๏ธView attachment 2348272View attachment 2348273View attachment 2348274View attachment 2348275
That 12-ton setup with those heating plates is going to be a massive step up from the hair straightener method. Dealing with humidity is definitely the steepest part of the learning curve, but once you find that sweet spot, the quality of the pulls changes completely. Looking forward to seeing how those 160-micron bags perform with your first run. Keep us posted on the results!

The new setup makes me feel like a pro! ๐Ÿ˜† I still only press smaller amounts but man, are they great results! : )

Absolutely will update on a 160bag press! Iโ€™ve got my sfv ogs going right now, some, if not most, will get pressed.

Thanks for the humidity input!๐Ÿคฉ โœŒ๏ธ

Thereโ€™s that one point in my recovery process that the rosin just hangs by a thread. And I make more of a mess getting free. If youโ€™ve pressed you know exactly what I mean ๐Ÿ˜ช
So me and dude hit the smoke shop, success!! Sure theyโ€™ve been out for years, Iโ€™m just a little slow

Nice upgrade to the rosin tools.
