Yeah, you'd be hard pressed to see a voltage drop that low unless you living in the PJs and the whole hood got their window ACs on blast.

I have an adult male german shepherd that is held into the backyard by an 18 inch plastic lattice fence. When the meter reader guy comes the dog starts barking about 20 feet away from the meter. The guy literally sprints off my property.

I'm a poor student on my local electric companies low income plan. I get 20% off.

Shephard ey? One of my favs. I also dig shephard lab mixes. Lol, you should get some video of that I'd love to see a meter reader get ran off by a pissed off shephard.

I was automatically signed up for a similar program because of my high usage in an eastern state over 10 years ago. My bills ended up rising slightly because from 8AM til 5 PM, the rates were A LOT higher. I ran my lights at night, but my normal daytime usage was quite expensive. It kind of evened out in the end- but the power company basically forced me to use a lot more of my watts at night........

The other thing is that when I was using a flip system, my meter was spinning pretty fast all day every day. Now when the meter guy comes around with his monocular over my back fence (my 100lb dog doesn't like him either!) it should hardly be spinning. Once again, if a customer is spending over $2k a month with your company, why would you flag him in hopes that he'll be replaced with someone that pays you $200 a month? Where is the cents in that?!
Regardless of when you use it, the number of Kwhr's will still be the same.
At another property there was a guy in a truck with a giant zoom lens looking at my meter from the vacant block next door. I ran over there and asked him if there was a problem. He said he was privately contracted by Edison to do the meter readings... never had a problem. I think he was a bit confused as to whether the numbers were right though... lol
Just pay your bill on time, keep the lawns nice and be nice to everyone. I have a friend that pays $10k in cash every two months, in person.... they are always happy to see him.

Like SSHZ mentioned if your usage changes you could have a worse bill.
In LA's DWP meters, you have to sign a 12 month agreement. The only way this could bite someone is if they reach the property's limit of amps, then they would have to go with a flip. But considering the high rate is for only four hours a day, it still might be cheaper.

I took a closer look at things over here today. Just got done installing something called a KVAR its just a capacitor. Go youtube it. Spent under $150 by the time i got done installing it myself with under 30min guys. Saves 6-25%

Anyways back on the topic I looked at my papers witch me eyes see 5th tear and @18cent kw. I also ask what about my Medical family member needs ton of power. The lady was gladly willing to send out paper work for my DR to fill and mail back. When that is filled she said i be droped to 8cent kw.

How hard can it be to fill some paper work out to not have your meter replaced with having the plus of 24/7 flat rate.

If you're not legal, the money savings aren't worth the increased chance of the electric company asking questions, IMO.

I'll gladly pay an extra couple/few hundred a month (the day I get the bill, actually have it auto deducted from my account) for them not to say "why does this poor and/or disabled guy need all these watts?".

However, if I was legal I'd be all over it.

18 cents down to 8 cents is a bargain.
I have heard rumors that someone may want to come and inspect the 'medical facilities' in your home that requires excess power, but if your legal, I cannot see a problem with it.
Some people need one big hot jacuzzi for their therapy, we need many small, cold ones!

Well because called today and made the girl send me the paper work from edison. I will read it and have my super cool doctor Sign it. I am in a far away small town that would cost $40 each way to drive from a city like LA or Bako. I am got my exempt from the Dr witch is posted on my door.

actually, can anyone comment when they install the new meter, do they do it from the outside of the house? or do they need to come into your garage area and do something (lets say I had my growroom in my garage). Think this would be a problem ?

Where the guy that comes and looks at the meter will all that needs to be access witch is normally be next the the main breaker outside. If you have a dog, the reading guy will use some optics to see from out side your property.

I save over $600 per month on pg&e's commercial time-of-use plan..

If you run lights at night it's certainly worth it.

For houses we've also run residential CARE and that got rid of the entire tier system I believe... Im pretty sure they just charged us one low flat rate.. this also helped a ton!

yeah CARE has 2 tiers .09 kwh and .11 kwh - even at .11 its still cheaper then the first tier without CARE

saves me about 500 bux a month in summer

That is a HELL of a savings, but you have to have a more serious medical issue, no? I saw the one person mentioned that you may qualify if your disability prevents you from working, but haven't found anything on PG&E's site that spoke to that.

They don't offer it in my area, at least not for residential service.

What they DO want to do is come and install an HVAC controller. They'll give us something like $50 off a month's bills. I averaged our bills out, that's *nothing*, about 10% off one bill. No thanks!
