How do grow tents this packed avoid mildew and other problems that come with such a dense canopy?? Especially in flower

I know trichomes should be milky with around 5-15% amber. But what i want to know is about the pistols; Should i wait till they all go brown and shrivel? Or go with trichomes only? I have a usb microscope and am very familiar with trichomes but not pistols
