FWIW, my grow is a little over a week into flower, and it looks like it may be just starting to stretch. I'm growing 4 plants in coco coir, and about a week ago they just started touching the walls of the tent, about when I flipped from 18 hours to 12 hours of light.
Being in coco and getting...
OK, a bit more info on the sump pump. It's way stronger than the first pump, and it sucks all the water out of the pump (maybe 4 inches in a small bucket) in 2 seconds. I was worried about it burning out, but my longest on time is only 10 seconds. It seems to work just fine, and I...
I just got this light, so not looking for recommendations, but I am looking for information.
For the past 5 years I've grown one crop a year in a 4x4 tent with an HLG-600r. Aside for poor edge coverage in the tent, because I couldn't keep enough space above the canopy, it's worked well...
OK, here's what has happened. I had a grow in-progress, and I had to have a pump the same day. I bought a $99 Home Depot sump pump which did not have a float valve. It's extremely powerful, too. I also ordered a $160 replacement (w/float) pump, intending to change pumps out once the float...
No kidding. Last year I watered every two hours, but I fed just a bit too much in each feeding. I had roots growing out of my air pots, down the drain lines and a bit into my sump basin. Algae too, until the leaf canopy got so thick there was not enough light to grow algae in the (clear)...
This coco grower (me) has been watering every 2 hours for this crop and others. I feed about 10 seconds at a time, and at the end of 24 hours my goal is a bucket (3-4 gallons) of runoff. If I get less runoff when the plants get big, I add a second/feeding.
During dark hours I only water 4...
You have problems coming unless you can move that light up 2-3 feet. Once the flower stretch starts, your space will vanish quickly. When your space (to canopy) gets short, you'll have coverage issues to the sides. That can result in burning the center to get the edges right.
Have a look in...
My 2 cents. Your plants look pretty healthy, though I can't tell how old they are. Which means I can't tell how fast/slow they are growing, but they look slow to me. I'll just talk about what I'm doing so you have another perspective on watering frequency and runoff. By the way, my first...
Seeds can be tough to get right. They are delicate and very sensitive to over watering. My latest technique seems safe.
First, I drop the seeds into water, for no more than 12 hours. This is to soften up the shell and get things started. Going too long here risks drowning the seed. Move...
Not sure if you're replying to me.
I have a drain-to-waste 30 gallon reservoir on a timed feeding system, so yes, feed every time. What I vary is the duration of the feed. I do approximately 10 seconds every 2 hours during the day, but only 4-5 seconds after dark. I don't want the coco to...
I appreciate the ideas. I mistakenly bought a $99 sump pump from Home Depot and found it didn’t have a float switch.
For now, I’ve hooked the sump pump to the feed pump timer so they both go on at the same time. Timer is set to go off every 2 hours for 10 seconds. The pump empties the drain...
I'm growing a single crop each year in a 4x4 tent in a bedroom. I'm growing in coco coir and using a drain-to-waste setup.
I've gradually built a working DIY feeding system which operates as often as every 2 hours. Nutrients flow into pots and end up in drain pans. The drains empty into a...
I've been growing in Coco for three years now. It can be quite the adventure! The size advantage is due to with water runoff ability of coco - you can feed almost constantly and not drown the roots. More feeding=more growth. My last two crops got fed every 2 hours during lighting, and a...
I'm replying to this 2 years later to confirm the above on the basis of more experience. I have two more grows in since this one. Each grow has followed the same lines, with crop weight more tied to flowering time than much else. In general, with my 4x4 tent, 600w LED and no CO2, I will...
They look healthy. Be careful not to overwater - it's so tempting. They do not look to have suffered any from the fertilizer premix.
For three weeks old, I'm surprised not to see any flowers. Mine were showing at 2 weeks, the one time I did autos.
I have a feeling there is an excellent chance of a delayed frost over much of the US this year. You may have more time than you think. If your autoflowers were in the seedling stage right now, you should be harvesting most strains in 10 weeks from today.
If you face a frost, you can do what...
Final yield: 4 Oz. Not great, but it's 1/4 pound more than I would have got from throwing out the seedlings, and I really put zero effort into growing these. My 4x4 tent produced 24 Oz's.
My 2 cents. I grow in a 4'x4'x8' Gorilla Grow tent. I've been using coco coir for the past three years/grows. I had a shorter tent, but my first coco grow exploded on me (see 'Explosive Growth in Coco Coir' here - lots of pics.)
I use a 600w LED grow light from HLG. It has a dimmer...
