Agreed on the macro but for any of you shooting a canon and interested in a macro lens, this looks interesting. I cant vouch for it but thought Id share anyway...... Macro lens

Both those cams should have a fully auto setting! :)

At the price point your talking about that canon 700d is ideal or perhaps the Nikon D5200 As for lens the kit lens generally supplied with either of these will be great for generic shots but you will prob want to grap a lens with macro at some point which will potentially set you back another...

Ive seen a vid where someone was using an electric doner kebab shaver, that seemed to work quite well, they're a cpl hundred quid I think.
