Eastwind (a Noob) Rolls The Dice On His First

Yes...do not underestimate what a help having the side fill CFLs will be. Later in flowering I pruned the lower fan leaves and the side fill lights were able were able to hit under the canopy. 2 to 4" distance from the plants...it is safe (no burn). It really helped the bottoms of the colas fill...

Eastwind (a Noob) Rolls The Dice On His First

Yes...I started with 14 CFLs, around 330 true watts. During veg I read up and decided on a Mar Reflector panel at about 210 true watts ( the lights are 5w each, anyone reading this, keep them higher than recommended by the Co, they are very strong). When the Mars got here I mounted it as a...

Eastwind (a Noob) Rolls The Dice On His First

12-4-16 Well some are ready and the others are next week. Last week I cut some lower branches as "testers", to see where the buds are at. So its been 10 to 11 weeks from seed...on 3 plants the Pistils are 50-70% brown, but the Trichs' are still mostly clear...these three have stopped growing...

Eastwind (a Noob) Rolls The Dice On His First

11-28-16 I'm about 6 weeks into flowering. There was a few very cold days here and I left the vent window open during lights and fans out. Cold air came in and settled on the floor area ( where the plants are)....causing the roots to get shocked and make the uptake of feeding poor. That let...

Thanks...I will check him out. Good news...as I was searching for info on plant problems...I came across a few threads about the Mars Reflector...the LED panel I am using that has 5watt bulbs....many other users reported that the company info on light distance was off. The 5w bulbs are too...

    Northern Lights Phosphorus Deficency?

Hey Hermit186, that was very helpful information...,a good explanation. For the flush, it sounds like you are reusing the nute/feed water runoff and mixing that with plan water to make up your flush. I don't use a BBQ skewer...but I do use a chop stick to aerate the soil...poke straight...

    Northern Lights Phosphorus Deficency?

Hey hermit186, thanks for your input. Styrofoam ! I had not thought of that...but I have some and will use it today. It will support the weight and lift them up ( they sit in alum overflow trays on top of a rug). So, don't use straight water to flush? What should I be mixing with the water?

    Northern Lights Phosphorus Deficency?

Thanks for your input Mango. For measuring, I am just eyeballing with a 1/8 tsp measuring spoon...and going 1/2 to 3/4 recommended dose via the label. Don't know how to do PPM readings yet. Today I aerated the soil in the pots with a thin stick....the soil was still moist from 2 days ago's...

    Northern Lights Phosphorus Deficency?

A big thanks to GT and NightsWatch for your input. I appreciate you takin' the time with a beginner. My grow room is in a basement, so below ground level....with my fresh air vent a basement window. Once the timer trips the lights and fans at 10PM...it was easy for the cold night air to creep...
