At 3 weeks evaluate the growth. If it is not at 4th or 5th node at the end of week 3 I dump the plants. Not spending 9 weeks waiting on 25 grams....
Great, thanks for the tip. I will probably keep them regardless as this is my first run. Every flower is worth keeping <3

The fems are free, I never do auto.
Yeah I'm thinking photos would probably have been better choice for me right now. I picked autos because I grew them before and they're quick. Will definitely be experimenting with photos or a mixed setup or something.

I am a 3rd Gen grower, hydro, indoor. I definitely prefer 12/12 reg seeds from known genetics. I have issues.

I pop free seeds from my supplier, Here an there. I got. Brit Coin fer free. Fracking amazing!!!! I have her clone mass production ATM. Always look fer the diamond in the rough

Rud Auto flower are genetically inferior when it comes to thc production. Peeps breed great genetics with rud. Total loss of quality. My opinion fer sure

I grow fer great smoke. No more, no less. The Autos are definitely lacking in quality.

In soil it really depends on how experienced the grower is and pot size. Photos are perfect for soil because you repot it a few times while autos tend to get issues, not filling up the rootzone in a good enough timeframe like coco would for them. Also, a seed started in its final pot will shoot for the bottom and then spread, leaving half a pot of soil unrooted come harvest time. I see a lot of coco grows for autos and soil grows for photos.

Got one photo in coco now, just to see how it fares with a short veg time. My next auto will be in soil with 1 transplant to see if i can fill out the top half of soil in time.

That's some valuable knowledge man. I had not heard this before, probably because I looked a lot into living soil grows. A lot of auto's do seem to do well, but as you said, that is probably (in part) because the grower is good ;)

What kind of soil do you like to use?

I have made my own mix of organic potting mix, compost, coco, perlite, vermiculite and homemade worm compost/castings. There is quite a lot of life in the soil (at least like 10-15 worms per 5 gal pot). Amended this with guano, potash, bonemeal and bloodmeal. After researching a bit more I could have gone for something like afalfa meal, crab meal and kelpmeal. Planning to add the latter as a topdressing later. For my next soil mix, also depending on how the plants do, I will adjust as needed and probably add some source of Mg (dolomite lime maybe?). Any opinions on this or experiences you have had with an amended mix?

Failure is the best teacher ;) spoken from experience.
Never used amended soil but it is peaking my interest, once i have the space to mix it. But no doubt someone on here has.

For me the Canna and Plagron lines are easily available, and both the soil and nutes have proven their worth. For the rest of my veggies, fruits, flowers etc. I use regular potting soil, topdressing every half year.

Hey! Some of us bowed to peer pressure and tried autos. Like the mullet, this too shall pass. 😆
Haha, yessir! Rude's are a definite passage of youth. The key is patience grasshopper. 12/12 is the way!

Great to see all your responses! My mind is definitely more at easy now haha. They are my babies after all, gotto know they are okay to survive.

Just for clarity, these are autos. That's why it had me extra worried to be honest. From what I understand a bit of stunting can quite heavily impact the plant. But they all seem to be growing happily regardless and a smaller yield wouldn't be a problem anyways.
Seedling stress is better than stress later in its life cycle. I really think the stunting most would be comparing to would be training techniques. Topping and heavy defoliating/pruning will stunt the growth of any plant which is why they are techniques not recommended for autoflowers. A small seedling hurdle should be no issue.

Just a quick update to show how quickly the seedlings can grow out of it. My seedling's newest growth is looking normal.

Edit: Not backed by science, yet, but wanted to throw this out there.

Stunted growth as a seedling will only push back your harvest date. Stunted growth during veg will decrease your yield. Stunted growth during flower can cause hermies and/or lower yields.

Seedlings basically have no recovery time as they do not have much growth yet. Veg/flower plants will need recovery time after fixing the problem. Growth rate will be lowered from a much higher starting value and then take much longer to get back to where it was.

Cool, thanks for your 2 cents man. Happy to see your girl is doing good! I can definitely see the logic in that. And hey, experience is basically just unofficial science ;).

My plants are definitely also growing out of it. Happy to see that, had me a bit worried there.

I try to imagine growth rate like driving a car. Seedling phase you are just driving around your neighborhood, speed limit of 25 and plenty of stop signs/lights, hopefully avoiding most, or all, of them. Once you hit the freeway you are now in veg stage. A stop sign/light on the freeway is really bad. Don't get me started on roundabouts! 🤣 Roundabout being when the plant starts to reveg from flower.
