Guess I'll find out, soon. Ordered my AC Infinity tent, and decided to start small with a 4 x 4.
Figured, I'd add to it later if I can actually do this.
Mike says he uses a photone app to check the light, what do you use? I've got a Samsung android phone, but looks like I have to get a new one 'cause the back of it is bulging a little and my son said the battery is going bad. 🫤
I'm staying with the Tracfone/Verizon service and have ordered a similar one from them. Hate changing phones.

I measure in lux and I use a blue tooth enabled lux tester here.
https://www.amazon.com/UNI-T-Illuminance-Photography-Photometer-Measurement/dp/B09PDGX69B
This integrates through an app to measure in ppdf and you can make maps for your light . The first version of the app was lame but the next one has the proper spectrum choice pre loaded and reads very close to the readings for the PAR map released by the light manufacturers.
I use the light meter as a guide but I have already pushed this strain and know the max light it can take.
Mike and others also convinced me to try reducing light energy at the end of the grow and this also was a winner. Best icy frosty buds with best potency and yield of the 4 plants.

I hate eveything about phones. I view the phone part of it as a encumbrence to efficiency. I feel when I get a phone call that some system to insulate me from people has failed and now here we are.
I hate change. I hate when they change positions of buttons and even worse change what the button does. for 5 years a certain action did this and now it does that.
But enough about my problems. What controller are you getting for your tent?

Thought I'd go big and get the AI one.

Another thing I did a poor job of documenting due to workload ( 11 fricken plants ) is the divot of seed starter I placed in the fox farms mix.

The first plants I grew I did not use a divot I actually pressed a solo cup into the pot full of soil. I figured folks start them in solo cups must work well. As the plants were photos this did not matter but after seeing how slow the first 2 weeks went with the autos I cut the size down to about a tennis ball cut in half. This would have been plant 3 and 4 from last run. Both did much better.
This run it was about the size of a golf ball cut in 1/2. The roots had 1/2 of an inch to travel before it hit the soil. This has resulted in faster and more sturdy plants all around.

Update
Watered all plants 250 ml. Top was slightly damp and hope this will extend the nemitodes for a while.
Everybody looking good with 4 plants breaking out ahead of the pack. Much better start than last run.
Lights moved to 32% 9000 lux +- 200

I discovered this as well. I've grown autos outdoors for 6 years.
First year I transplanted 3 times and still had a very healthy successful crop. (beginner's luck)
Second year through fifth I grew in solos then transplanted into 7 or 10 gallon pots with less vigorous plants.
This year I started in a 6 pack, transplanted into a 7 gallon pot with a divot the size of the 6pk. cell and they were much happier.
I believe they are looking for nutrition right away and would be happiest started in the potting soil. BUT since mine go outdoors, I'm nervous about damp off and still use seed starting mix (sterile) in the center of the pot when transplanting.

Maybe giving them a weak fertilizer solution at the start would work. Just thinking out loud.

Update.
Ok in the spirit of saying I was going to report all the good and bad here is some more weak link bullshit.
The fluctuations were not caused by anything other than me. The ACi was not freaking.
I have a raised floor and a fixture that I use to allow air to only come up the front left of the tent. It is a series of tubes that push the wall open but I can cap the tubes to raise and lower airflow. The fixture has come loose and fallen down into the " basement " of the tent.
Reasoning was simple. It is still in beta test and I was not going to permanently mount this thing if it was not going to work. I had to hold it in place while zipping up the tent and wellllllllllll
Anyways when the thing moved it closed off all airflow from the basement of the tent and caused temps to go up and humidity to peak.
As the thing works to spread the airflow over a 30 inch section of the tent wall instead of all the air coming out of one corner and drying out the nearest bucket I guess I better make a mount for the thing. 🤔

Update
Sent in reinforcements for the nemitode mercenary group. Watered with 250lm after leveling and backfilling the pots.
I have 4 plants at this mini stage already popping stem nodes. So freaking tiny. The first 3 levels of stem nodes have produced but any higher up never have so those will be culled on sprout.
Light panel at 33% lux readings 11k and 10k on perimeter.
Still at .8 vdp and the last 2 days with a weather break plants have gotten 79 degrees for about 14 hours a day and 77 for the balance.
At this point I would like to ask the US government to launch a tactical nuke strike at the manufacturing plant in China who made these sticky traps. Everybody must die due to my 20 minutes of inconvenience.
Vacuumed tent but need to pick up sticky trap glue covering paper in the room.

I misinterpreted what I was seeing. I just read through Mephisto Genetics blog posts about how to water and feed autos and I'm sure I was doing it differently. 🙂
Part 1
Part 2

Does this match what you do/see when growing them?

They look so good! Makes me want to start one on the windowsill. (I won't, the tent gets here tomorrow, yay)
Patience is soo hard. LOL

I agree with several points of these 2 articles but have issues with some.
The use of perlite at 20% of volume in the pot gives us much less issues with soil compaction as does a nice mixture with no clumps and a very even mix. This causes a higher turnover and a higher O2 root zone.
Everybody who grows pot knows the start small and sneak up on it. Also to water away from a sprout.
I do not mist cannabis plants. No real reason other than it gets stuff dirty and I am not picking up 20 sticky traps to spray my plants.

pH in water is way more controversial than it needs to be. Having taken chemistry and understanding the difference between a covalent and an ionic bond and how pH is raised and lowered I am secure in not pH ing water.
The following pertains to pure water such as distilled and ro
When you add something to water you no longer have water. You have an liquid solution containing water and other stuff. This will be a solution that has complex characters with BOTH ionic bound and covalent bound molecules. These will be more than happy to give up some electrons or collect some to your soil and cause pH issues. There is a difference between water and water with stuff in it.
Tap water.
It depends. I really think anyone growing pot and thinking about using other than pure water should get a water test. City " water" is a solution of water and other stuff. Mostly minerals and some lightweight poison that would kill at high dose but only kills bacteria at the dose they use. Some minerals in water are bound up due to again that pesky covalent bond where they do not have the ability or a very limited ability to exchange electrons to mess with PH.

I have more detailed chemistry knowledge as to why pH in soil is what it is but normally this explanation either suffices or causes an argument. 😜

Thank you for your explanation. I took chemistry a hundred years ago and don't remember much but you make sense. I do not have tap water, and the well water I use on the outdoor plants has only been through a 'sticks and twigs' filter. In the winter however I have to use RO on plants 'cause the house water is softened.
What do you recommend when using the RO water?

Pure water. In a soil that is buffered I would not and do not pH. My foop nutes at strength week 5-8 had pH going to 4.4 but again it was no longer pure water it was a solution of water and stuff.
I adjusted it. Also learned a neat point on that.
When you mix the same nutes over and over again and it is always the same adjust for pH and then you get a low or high reading do not adjust the pH any more until you recalibrate your meter. I found out that 100% of the time it was the meter calibration. Not much but enough to calibrate and find out it was off. This happens more in heavily liquid organic ferts. The gunk sticks to stuff even when you rinse well.

Vivosun does not like low ventilation and dings the score. its not low ventilation its effective ventilation.

Update.
Low temps and no house heat yet leaves me to support the room with a small ceramic heater. This worked well and raised room 3 degrees in 20 minutes. Now I can run 79 every day. Rest of basement at 66 degrees. Tent ambient radiation gives me 2 degrees but takes an hour. The ACI thermoforge on its best day gets me 7 degrees in my 4x4.

Got small tent cleaned and installed in lung room. Still needs mechanicals but at 10:30 I am done out and reaching for the RSO and a butter cookie.
79 today raised vdp to .9 about 74 % at temp.
Wanted to rebalance lights but will have to wait.

Update.
Woke up this am to a couple of stretchy plants. Upped panel to 40% and rearranged pots. 12.5 k high and 11.2 low

Watered with 400 ml around plants wetting the entire top out from the leaf perimeter Gnants down to just a few on random card. No gnant flights during watering.
Still at .9 vdp. Plants look good with minor blemishes on random leafs.
Going to run small tent in stupid mode till I get WiFi fixed and if stable I will put 3 plants in soon. The pattern of the big panel is hard to manipulate a good even reading on so many pots.
