I'm done with trees. Bushes and hedges from now on.😆

I grew a tree last year, don't care to be that far up a ladder anymore. The bush I can handle View attachment 2685751
I completely understand. Bigger plant, more work. I like to get my canopy up off the ground and spread in the breeze as much as possible. Lots of moisture in the soil evaporates upward. I'm hoping that helps reduce fungus. Bud rot is a big issue around here.

Same here. Just cleaned up the lowers a few days back. We were getting a bunch of rain, and lots of dew at night. Needed better air flow thru the plants.

I'll go thru it one more time in another month or sooner.

I grow em as big as they want. Not gonna complain about cleaning weed. Give em what they need, reap what you sow
Agreed 👍 I'm not stopping that part of the process one bit, just keeping it closer to the ground. Both plants from last year produced almost exact amounts (dry weight).
But I'd rather have a hand in the bush.😆

OK you Farmers heres my little line up so far. These are not gonna get over 6ft I hope. Tallest is 4 1/2ft GG#4 then a indica hybrid 3 1/2ft and a mystery indica hybrid which is going into flower she's 4ft tall. The other 2 are auto flowers sitting on the bench. There from Herbies and called Godzilla Cookies she's a good size auto flower about 24" tall so far and beginning pre flower small one is just about 3wks old and only outdoors for a week. That's all i got for now. Temps are in the upper 80s and 58f overnight so were looking great so far but hotter days are coming. Stay cool and keep fluids going🤙🍻🍑🍑🍒Peaches an Cheeries are in season here, gonna go to the farmstand and get me some Peaches!!

Growing cannabis is humbling, and I have nowhere to go but up. 😐

The story of my rookie auto run.

1) OG Kush didn't make it out of the solo cup or closet.
2) Northern Lights same story.
3) OG Kush #2 started outdoors in 5 gal pot. Stunted, but flowering.
4) Northern Lights #2. Also stunted and flowering, but bigger than OG Kush.
5) The bean I didn't actually purchase, Gorilla Cookies Auto, is bigger and healthier looking than the other autos combined.

Yes the momentary thrill of big plants goes away pretty quickly when you’re working on them, 👍to hedges.
I do have an Arborist Certification (the 14' orchard ladder is in the wings). Really, I'm trying for a cannabis/crape myrtle kind of thing. I hope I can keep spreading that canopy to keep her under 8'. Once a landscaper always a landscaper I guess. And if she gets bigger than that...first whorled problems.

Well that one looks good man…I’ve got plenty of photo beans if you need some…shoot me a DM if you’re interested….but that’s my opinion, autos are your downfall.

I couldn't agree more. They can be very finicky and even technical. If ever there was high anxiety cannabis it would be growing autos.

I have to keep mine short because most are in a 6.5 ft greenhouse. My Okie crosses have only been topped once but the AK cross and Cretan landraces got their 3rd and hopefully last topping a few days ago. Have a Cretan in the ground that's about 6 and a half feet and still going strong. Also a Napali Highland semi dwarf that's around 5'. The greenhouse is getting pretty crowded. Told myself I was only going to have 8 outdoor photos this year but ended up with 13. I have a problem with culling healthy females.

I mow the lawn. I planted it yrs ago, finally started taking off. Off I didn’t mow, my house would be completely covered. But I still love it. It ain’t great with snow, that’s a total nightmare. Remember the kung fu thing, like bamboo in the snow, it gives way. Or something to that affect. It gets stuck in the snow, bends over , complete chaos!

This morning’s walk through. I turned on the sprinkler on for a couple of hours yesterday, until the thunderstorm hit. Then the rain continued watering for me. They are starting to turn around for the better now…

Thats insanely invasive as well, I have Japanese knot weed which is similar, but without the usefulness of bamboo unfortunately. How do you contain from spreading?
All this is American River Cane, non invasive, up at the pond. Bush hog and machete keep it in check. My problem is the dang wisteria. But at least it's not Kudzu.
