My 80+ year-old mother-in-law used to spend hours and hours cracking and picking walnuts! Loved it when I would bring over shopping bags full of them! Said it kept her hands in good working order! This is walnut country!

Not to mention the wood. Black walnut is the king of woods. Some of the finest gun stocks and furniture is made from it.

My stool I use for loading wood stove, I believe it’s black walnut. Made by a Master Japanese craftsman. His stuff is unbelievable. Ohama Jokan

Severe storms rolled through earlier, and more soon. No damage so far! Keep my fingers crossed

No. Theirs a big tree on the farm, lots of little trees coming up around my shop. I seen a few videos on how to clean them, lots of work, but not for that squirrel!

When I was a kid we used bricks to smash the walnuts. You could spend a lot of time to get a half cups worth.

From what a crazy buddy of mine told me, this county is a major source of blackwalnut lumber. He's kinda nuts, but he's also kinda right.

And if you get a little bite of shell it's bitter as all

They’re 5’ to 8’ tall and all of them are 7’ wide. Probably 70/80 tops each.
Don’t mind the ladder. I’m finishing the roof this weekend before the rains really come in.

The night time temps dropping is my favorite time of year. The colors are going to start changing and really make the girls pop.
