I'm not in Cali, but I think 250 is a good deal for some primo nugs. I'd be willing to pay 10/gram... if I didn't grow my own. Good weed is hard to come by around here. I've heard of people paying 500+ for an ounce. You just have to draw the line somewhere.

Hey sanvanalova... In Cali do they let med patients but new cars for half the price as healthy car buyers too?

Pot is first and foremost for recreation. I am getting totally tired of the med patient scene and attitude. NORML should have never went the "medical marijuana route" it has slowed down the real goal of NORML and every other pot user the last 30 years and that goal was for legal recreational use.

Helping med patientients was a wonderful secondary benefit but it is not even close to being the most important use for pot. That will always be recreation and mind expansion.

Hippies/stoners own the weed not sick people. Jeez now when stoners light up nonsmoking people think we are sick and have something wrong. THERE ISN'T. I just want to get freakin high. Now people probably think I have cancer or AIDS. This is a phucked up situation and I am not going to tolerate it quietly anymore.

There are a few things pot helps with but it does not work against pain as well as pharmacy meds. I know from experience. If you are having a kidney stone, a stick in the eye, a bullet wound or a broken leg try smoking a joint to fix that situation. It isn't gonna work. You need Vicodin, percocet or morphine not Chemdog D.

Now weed is a nice adjunctive therapy as a diversional med but not a primary defense.

Time to end this BS. Weed is for fun. Weed is for creativity. Weed isn't for severe pain. Not even close. It is an insult to people with severe pain to tell them weed is going to take their pain away.

Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll baby. Time to return to our roots. Time for a revolution.

I smoked pot when I was a kid, left it when I got into the corporate world. I came down with a serious intestinal condition that I live with every day. I was close to suicide before I got my medical. I had it all planned out, I just could not take living in either pain, or in a pain killer delierum. Smoking would ease the cramping and the never ending nausea. Life became easier.. Less pain killers and I became productive again. MJ is for severe pain and often the nausea and cramping that goes along with the high levels of pain. Painkillers still have their place but what would you rather? Poping 4-5 norco (stronger vicodin) a day or would you rather smoke a few bowls and save the pills for when you really need it? Anyone thats been on the hard painkillers for pain (not addiction), will tell you that their effictiveness goes away with time.

So when you make your position that it is primarily a recreational, you show how nieve you are, lacking in perspective if you will.

Im not going to say mean things about you, im sure others will take that task up.. But I will say you need to be more open minded. :)

MJ is not for severe pain. It is indefensible to say it is. I want you to have a kidney stone or stab wound and treat yourself with pot. It won't work. And if you say it works your are full of BS. I am a nurse so I have more insight into this then you do regardless of what you have been through.

Yes pot helps with cramps. Cramps are not severe pain.

Yes pot helps with appetite and many other things.

I love weed. I probably smoke more than most on here and have for 40 years. I want weed to be legal like beer. I don't care about medical marijuana. It is getting in my way now. Sorry but that is the way it is. There are conventional meds better suited for patients needs than pot.

I have respected the med marijuana movement for years but it doesn't work for me anymore. We need to separate from Medical marijuana now. I get to have my opinion too.

My opinion is weed belongs to people who just want to get high first. Medical people if they want it have to pay what we pay to get it. If you don't agree... tough.

l scene is no doubt a step towards full legalization, but how else do you think that it could of happened. Legalizing marijuana is an uphill battle, and to be honest I think the medical industry displays a good show for Joe taxpayer, who may listen to the perpetual bullshit that invades the average persons home in regards to the detriment that marijuana can bring: gateway drug, psychosis, its too strong these days, etc.
Now as far as the price goes, even if the people that are participating in the medical scene that don't need marijuana still should not be paying a price so reflective of the black market. If there is less risk than there should be more supply causing the demand to decrease.....at least in theory, I am well aware that we are not there yet, but we should be!

Alright buddy, there are some very important things to address here. First and foremost marijuana does help people with severe pain, for example, someone very close to me suffers from severe chrons disease, and honestly I didn't understand it until I saw it in person but it is a horrible disease for those who have it badly. I have seen her stop taking all pain pills because of the availability to smoke the necessary amount of herb to relieve her pain.......there are millions more like her all over the world....So YES marijuana does help with pain and yes for certain people it can be used as an alternative for pain medications. Just because it is different for you does not mean that is the universal case.
Now for the route to legalization, the medical scene is no doubt a step towards full legalization, but how else do you think that it could of happened. Legalizing marijuana is an uphill battle, and to be honest I think the medical industry displays a good show for Joe taxpayer, who may listen to the perpetual bullshit that invades the average persons home in regards to the detriment that marijuana can bring: gateway drug, psychosis, its too strong these days, etc.

tobor the 8th nurse, you really need to step back and realize first of all, the medical route has been the only one that has worked to make weed available to people, and for them not to get punished for medical use( or recreational use if you want!) Its very funny I think to complain now, when in california, and several other states you can smoke recreationally if you want to with a medical permit, and enjoy it just the same, and use it creatively too. People are not gonna think you have AIDS just chill out. The medical route won the argument, and now the loophole is available. So you can tear up about it or whatever it is your doing, but at least the steps have been taken, and the ball is rollin, and sure in a perfect world everyone can smoke freely outside, and in bars, clubs...but until then just complaining is just that... Just quit whining please.

It doesn't stop severe pain. It doesn't matter how often you people post it up it isn't true.

I also don't like how it was posted... I smoked pot when I was a kid but gave it up for the corporate world. ?????? Oh so you don't think someone can smoke pot and have a real job. You only came back to pot because you were desperate for meds. That shows me that some medical patients really think they should be the only ones having it and look down on recreational users.

Well I didn't smoke as a kid and I don't think kids should be smoking pot. Young adults over 16 have at it. But not kids. But I have plenty of friends in health care and the corporate world who smoke weed and they fuction just fine smoking when they are on their own time.

Look I drew my line in the sand. Medical Marijuana movement can get the hell out of my face and off of my cloud. I smoke for fun and I smoke for getting high. I am glad it helps some people but that is not what the movement is or ever was about. It was about revolution, free speech, freedom, music, etc etc not some sick person who never would have smoked pot and only do now because they are sick.

Where were they when they were not sick? Were they helping get pot legal? No? It hasn't helped the cause. It just regulates it now. It's bullshit. Now you can only smoke if a Dr says it is OK. That is bullshit.

This is my cause now. I say dump the med users off of our ship and fight this on our own as healthy adults who want to do whatever we want as long as nobody gets hurt.

Now somebody please answer the question. If you had a bullet wound, kidney stone or lost a finger will smoking a joint take away the pain? I think we all know the answer.

I like the way people think med marijuana is winning the battle. Time is winning the battle. It was like 1975 when NORML stupidly went this route towards legalization. 34 years?? They only worked on it a couple years from the recreational side. WTF??

Bottom line is this....

Sick people being shoved in my face are ruining my buzz. I don't want them associated with the legalization. Non smokers think weed is a super drug now. They don't think beer is a drug but they do weed. ??? Weed isn't like that. Weed is a plant and should be enjoyed.

Look how med users can't even accept somebody having their opinion on this. It is my life. I don't want connected to medical marijuana users. If you don't agree fine. But I am not going to change my opinion and I am not going to be quiet about something important to me and many other people.

Tabor: Why are you so upset man? I think you need some better smoke, maybe? Anyway to answer your ridiculous question about a gun shot wound, of course you want something stronger than weed, that is why these other medications exist. What about a headache though? Should you take morphine for that? What about other minor pain? That is the point, marijuana will not cure all, nor will it relieve all but it does help, just like tylenol, or a minor pain killer does. It also does not have the death/addiction factor related to it like other meds do.
Now yes I smoke recreationally too, we are far ahead of the rest of the world in the quality of marijuana, primarily due to the medical scene, so you should enjoy that. Also why do you care so much what others think about weed, I mean if you have been smoking for thirty years isn't being looked at as sick better than being looked at as crazy? I am sure everyone on here wants marijuana legal all over the board, but unfortunately we are not the majority, or important enough minority to change it yet. It will come though. Doesn't California have two different measures to legalize in 2010, maybe if you are so convicted about your feelings you will participate in getting these passed.

Ok so you agree that it doesn't treat "severe" pain right? Well there is a problem there. "Minor" pain is not a qualifying condition in any of the 13 states. All of the laws are very specific and they clearly state "SEVERE PAIN".

I'm not taking sides at all just pointing out to you that your statements are making you loose ground in this argument.

Not at all, I gave it up to pass the drug test and found that I was working so much, I didn't have time to smoke, drink, etc..

Did I come back because I was desperate for meds, or dsperate to get off so many pharmaceuticals?

Im all for it to be recreational, btw :hi

I chimed in because med users were busting on the original poster about spending $250 an ounce. They were also flavoring the thread with the real reason the world needs pot is for medical use. I am just calling BS on all of that.

The real reason pot is popular, the main reason and the most important reason is that it is harmless fun. It should be legal for that reason. But it isn't. So the suppliers will always be at risk. People that want weed have to pay the going rate. Quit hating on dealers and growers who expect to reap some monetary gain for their hard work. Grow your own if you need meds. If you are a med patient fine but don't start thinking that recreational pot smokers are not the driving force behind the marijuana movement. All the seeds available to people now are the result of recreational pot smokers like the Haze Brothers, Neville and Shantibaba and Ed Rosenthal. All people who were just wanting to get high and have the best recreational pot they could.

wtf? Loose ground? Nah I am not one the one that made the laws, nor the wording of it. It does help with minor pain and severe pain, as if you read my previous post you would have seen that I have someone very close to me with crohn's disease and herb helps her very well. I am speaking about extremities such as a gun shot wound. And essentially saying that other drugs such as morphine have their needed time and place, so I am not arguing that marijuana can replace these entirely but definitely do replace the harder pain killers to some people to some extent. Also the law in my state says debilitating conditions not severe pain, which has been interpreted to allow medical use for migraines and many other "debatable" conditions.
