What about Jack's 1-2-3,,? I friend has told me to get off the liquid nute's and go with dry amendments like Jacks....and as you said we're paying for water....@Dothraki
What about the grow tent? Did you warm it up yet? Nectar of the Gods will work. It's expensive and you'll need all bottles before you're done. If you want some better nutrient choices for next run, just ask. Everyone will chime in.
More important is the environment. Let's take care of that first.
Yes. Got temps up to 78-80F. Couple of the seedlings look hungry, so tomorrow I’ll try a light feeding with just one plant to see if it reacts positively. First few days they grew pretty quick, then slowed right down. The NFTG soil is less hot than most soils as it wasn’t based around LED grows…so I’m thinking they just need food. Apparently you need to feed a lot more under LED and this soil was not mixed with that in mind. See how it goes!@Dothraki

I’ve had some masterblend over a year and still use it occasionallyWhat about Jack's 1-2-3,,? I friend has told me to get off the liquid nute's and go with dry amendments like Jacks....and as you said we're paying for water....
the thing I look at is an up front cost to get what i need in Canada is about $500 that'll give me 4 - 25lb bags Right now with the GH line I can get 3 gallons for $200 and I've been using Floralicious at $45 - 1/2pint x 2 for a year.. call it $300/ years....How long will the dry amendments last is my question to who ever can answer...sorry for hijacking your thread...........its just since we're on the subject of nute's used.....and I'm looking for a change instead of buying water.
You don't need to feed until the pads turn yellow. Raise the light and quit overwatering. 8000lux of led is too much for unhealthy seedlings.Yes. Got temps up to 78-80F. Push the temps a little higher ... more like 80-82-84F. Somewhere in there.Yes. Got temps up to 78-80F. Do you have a moisture probe? Something like this one here: ---> https://www.thcfarmer.com/profile/1150834/ It will tell you for sure. You guys keep saying not to overwater… these have not been overwatered. They are all fairly dry, even when they looked soaked in the pics they were not. A shot glass of water to a cup of dry dirt will not overwater a seedling. I have given water twice in 2 weeks. As a matter pf fact, the one that looks the best is actually the one that got the most water.
Improper- its either over or under watering. My solo cups takes 3-3.5 oz each watering. And your light was too close. You guys keep saying not to overwater… these have not been overwatered. Do you water until its completely saturated? You guys keep saying not to overwater… these have not been overwatered. They are all fairly dry, even when they looked soaked in the pics they were not. Hmm… I forgot about those. Really cheap too! I’ll be sure to grab one!Do you have a moisture probe? Something like this one here: ---> https://www.thcfarmer.com/profile/1150834/ It will tell you for sure.
At any rate, get the temps up if you haven't already.

I turned the light down to 20% once they started lookin funky. Completely saturated as in enough to wet from top to bottom once it soaks in for a few minutes, but not until it’s running out the bottom…at least I haven’t yet at this stage. I’m thinking thats better to do once there’s a few sets of leaves right?Do you water until its completely saturated?
Right now, you want to encourage root growth. It's what feeds the plant and supports it's structure. Root development is always ahead of leaf development. The cooler temperatures and the whole environment hasn't allowed for much growth. Because of the cooler temperatures and the lack of growth, even that little bit of water you were giving them ... while probably not too much per watering ... was probably done a day to two too soon. For me, this is the hardest part of the whole process. While I don't lose sprouts, it does frequently take some juggling with the plant's environment to get them to begin to grow. It's part of the learning curve and it's 100% normal. After-all, we're not trying to teach you to simply grow pot. We're trying to help you become a master grower. There's a difference between the two.Hmm… I forgot about those. Really cheap too! I’ll be sure to grab one!
oh and yes…temps are up now too.

I saturate mine till it cant hold another drop then let it dry back 10% or so while the seeds germinate. Then I wait about 3-4 days after sprout to water and always saturate to runoff. 2nd watering is usually about day 7 then 9, 11, 13, 14. By day 14 they are starting the 4th or 5th set and growing fast; time to transplant.Hmm… I forgot about those. Really cheap too! I’ll be sure to grab one!

Awesome, thanks! And I see how that would make sense… like asking someone to quickly backstroke swim with elegance right after you pushed them into ice cold water…might need a minute to get their bearings straight before performing tasks lol.Right now, you want to encourage root growth. As for the watering. Yes, pay attention to the leaves as they grow. The way they hold themselves and whether when they are pointing to the ground, is the whole leaf arching as it points down or is it a straight leaf pointing down? These signs all mean something different and it's hardest to tell when the plants are so small.
Back to the moisture meter. It's not just to help you determine when you want to water. It's also to begin to observe what the plant is doing and where the moisture meter is reading. If you start doing this, you'll begin to notice patterns that show up through out the growing process. It helps you focus on your observations so these skills come faster. Also, document document document. You can use pictures, your grow diary here on THCFarmer, or a multi subject notebook of paper. How you do it doesn't matter. The documentation does. Rock on ....
Sounds like a solid method. I might give it a try soon if these die lolI saturate mine till it cant hold another drop then let it dry back 10% or so while the seeds germinate. Use a scale to weigh the cups saturated. Mine are about 230-240g then dont water until under 150, maybe less. Depends on the mix and the weight of the cup.Awesome, thanks! I’ll weigh them tomorrow against a dry cup weight. Actually…screw it I‘ll do it now…stand by lolUse a scale to weigh the cups saturated. Mine are about 230-240g then dont water until under 150, maybe less. Depends on the mix and the weight of the cup.
What makes you think the water is bad?I think after this grow I just need to bite the bullet and get a RO machine, or whatever the hell they are lol. Taking the water out of the equation in the future would really help a lot (I expect there to be PH and PPM issues in veg/flower) but at least prepared this time with a PPM and PH meter.
EC is .5 and PH is 8.2 - 8.4What makes you think the water is bad?
You don't need RO. You'll be fine running a one or two stage filter system. R.O. opens up other headaches. Just use a sediment filter and a small micron carbon filter setup. They are cheap and all you need.I think after this grow I just need to bite the bullet and get a RO machine, or whatever the hell they are lol.
