dunit's first diary gave .9 grams pr. watt, and two main reasons for using LED over HPS is.
A: Power consumption
B: Heat exhaustion.
On the first note 0.9 grams pr. Watt is not that impressive for a grow using CO2 and a grow tent. I think it’s fair to say that experienced growers can yield that from HPS as well. And if you are running 3 x 600w HPS for flowering, you would need 10 X 357 magnums to get the same yield. Plus that would cost 7.000 USD$ and not save you 1 wattage of electricity. If I believed I could get 2 grams pr. Watt, I would buy 6 of these in a heartbeat. Really hoping for some more diaries (like sea of green or screen of green without Co2 to compare it to my own grows)
On the 2nd point, that’s super cool. If they burn with full brightness for 50K hours and does heat up the room, thumbs up to that, but that’s not worth 7.000 USD$ if u ask me.

What are the specifics of the 357 Magnum drivers? Half of the reds burnt out when initially turning it on; what would I replace the driver with? Does it matter on the type of driver? If I am right, the more power you supply, the sooner those LEDs die...ending with a cry Would I need to replace all 3? thx in advnc

I saw a hybrid system made for what you want to do. Its in an ad here on the Farm. I think it was super grow led. Check the top banner ads. Go to their website and check out the hybrid section for Hps and that led. It looks like it could be awesome. Money to be saved in power consumption with the hybrid system. Happy healing and growing. PL.I've run a 357 magnum (original) in a small area 100cmx70cm and it did a really good job. However after about 2 months I noticed diodes were dying, fans were starting to make strange noises and the switch from veg blue to full spectrum wasn't working but it was on full spectrum so it wasn't a big problem. After trying to get the thing fixed (have replacement parts sent out) for 2 months with no reply emails other than one's stating I'd be contacted soon I gave up and switched back to HPS and sold the thing to a mate for $200. After speaking to several other growers I'd probably only buy a Lumigrow650 as a sole LED light and thats not going to happen until prices drop significantly. I am about to set up a new 4x4 tent though and I'm thinking of running a 400Whps/MH in a cooltube flanked by a couple of 100W LEDs though I have no idea which brand or whether that's even worth doing as a 600W in a cooltube would probably be a much less problematic route. I was really excited by LEDs but it now seems they are either super high quality and super expensive (lumigrow) or low quality yet still expensive junk (357mag etc.) HID is still the way to go for the average grower IMHO.
