Hey man! Super excited I found this post! I have almost the same exact set up as you and have been hunting for threads with a similar set up! The only difference is I have the 600 watt galaxy hydro! I'd love to see where you're at in the process now!

Glad to hear it! I'll update later today. Sorry for the lack of updates, the past few weeks have been crazy. Today is my first day off in twelve days.

okay so i took a bunch of random photos, will dump at the end of the post. the plants are growing like crazy, despite the fact that's it's a little below ideal temp and i've underwatered like four times. i was planning on 5-6 plants for the next grow, but i'm not sure they will actually fit. i could also train them better and not let them veg as long, so i need to figure that out. one of each clone is a sure winner, as you will see in a moment. regretting not having a set up to take clones, will more than likely remedy that soon. added molasses to the feed schedule, on top of the organic go box. still feeding a bit under reccomended. going on the light side of three gallons when i really use about 4 to 4.5. no real sign of overfeeding unless i'm missing something. the tips aren't really burned looking or anything.

anyway, on to the porn:

I did this two weeks ago and have about inch long roots today. No misting or humidity dome needed, just cups water and plastic wrap.

Just re-read the last two pages to get caught up, looks good so far.

One thing re: watering: I like to water my plants with about half of the water they're gonna get, wait twenty or thirty minutes, THEN water with the rest of the, uh, water. Then I wait about twenty minutes and drain the pot holder things. Can't remember why I do that exactly right now haha, but I think it has something to do with the water kind of following the roots if you do it all at once, thus creating dry zones in the soil. Whatever the exact reason is, it made sense when I read the "watering twice" thing years ago.

Flushing is watering untill you have heavy runoff and then watering more, twice the normal amount of water that you normally use. Watering with 20% runoff is a normal watering you should do every time.
Ha! I got on here looking for some guidance on this very topic, as you well know :) Thx

What a great first grow somedumbjerk, You are really dialing in your setup where you live. I just converted to LED from MH, and HPS with similar lights to yours and loving the results so far and better utility bill. I see that you are using General Organics 8 part system. I have been using the GO line since there inception and love using it. We are always working on our own feeding schedule based on our growing environment. I want to recommend using the General Hydroponics SubCultures M, and B in conjunction to enhance your plants roots ecosystems. Keep up the great growing!

awesome to hear! i'm actually going to start composting and making teas for the next batch. i love the GO line, no problems with it but i feel like with the wealth of knowledge on this forum i can probably go organic on my own, which would be amazing. can't wait to harvest so i can start the next set of girls and do it better!

thanks! hope your grow goes well. these pots definitely breath, so watch the water level. i blew it a few times. the plants looked totally healthy in the morning and wilted when i got home from work. i mean i work 10.5 hr days but still. that and keeping the tent warm have been my biggest challenges so far. oh and patience.

few shots for you guys coming up. have about 40% of the hairs turning amber. thought it would take longer. need advice as to what microscope type thing to get. i don't have a windows laptop excluding my work one which i'm not comfortable using for that. looking for a standalone or ideally one that will work with an android phone.

the girls where very thirsty. i went to vegas for a few days and they needed water when i came back. sorry for the sporadic photos, still kind of recovering from the trip. any way to tell if i'm near harvest before i get the microscope? trying to figure out when to flush. only advice i found was wait until the hairs are 60% amber then start the flush. thanks for all the help guys! i'll get better pics soon. also might set up a security camera for the next grow. hoping for a timelapse update.

few shots for you guys coming up. have about 40% of the hairs turning amber. thought it would take longer. need advice as to what microscope type thing to get. i don't have a windows laptop excluding my work one which i'm not comfortable using for that. looking for a standalone or ideally one that will work with an android phone.

Looking good! I'm gonna assume that that first pic is the GSC. Is that right? Judging from the kind of, uh,"light" yield so far, it looks like GSC. I like the way the WW is looking, though. And I like the way the GSC looks, too, just seems like it could maybe fill out a little more.

As far as when to tell when to flush, I dunno cuz I don't flush. How long's it been since you induced flowering again? Can't remember off the top of my head, but if I were you, I'd let 'em go a little longer. The GSC especially (if I'm assuming correctly that the first pic is the GSC) looks like it could fill out a little bit more. But maybe not.

I bought a jewelers loupe to check my trichs, one of those ones with a light on it, and I found it kind of useless. The light just illuminated everything, made it impossible to differentiate between clear/cloudy/amber. It just made everything glow haha. I dunno anything about growing either GSC or WW, but judging from the pics, I'd let them go a little while longer, if for no other reason than to see if they maybe bulk up a little bit. Those are some FROSTY motherfuckers, though haha! Reeeealllyyy looking great.

found this thread from seamaiden's signature. lady, you are the best! still going to get a microscope, but damn i love this place! all this knowledge... thanks.

Yep. I used that thread to decide when to harvest, too (that and the fact that Sea told me to harvest certain plants based on the pics I posted haha). I will say, though, that the first Goldstar I harvested last run I feel could've gone a week longer. Could just be strain-specific, but every time I (and anybody else who's tried it) blaze the GStar, it's a very strong and "up up up" high, but it doesn't last very long (hour and a half, tops). I think that if I'd have let it go a week longer, it would've been a longer high and perhaps more trippy, too. And obviously a little more "body" to it. But yeah, next harvest, when I think I should chop, I'm gonna let 'em go a week longer.

Go with your gut. Unless your gut's telling you to pull early, in which case, ignore it haha.

thanks! that is actually the GDP. the GSC are the frosty pics later. shorter looking little ladies. flipped on 3.9.16 so 47 days or 7 weeks. thinking they need to fatten up a bit more, but i have about 40% redhead. from what seedbanks and leafly say, should be about 9 weeks for the GDP and 9-10 for the GSC, so a few more weeks. i think i'll see how thirsty they get and probably give them at least another feeding. also about to get some composting on for the next batch. trying to do some nice living soil and grow from seed for the next group of girls.

Word. Living soil is the way to go. So much easier.

And why the fuck was I thinking you were growing White Widow...? I believe I may be following too many threads.... Haha!

being your growin with low power i would unless you have a loop do another 1 - 2 weeks extra you be surprised but either way looking great for first grow
PS i always tell new growers when you think there ready to chop give them another week

yup, patience is the hard part. keep telling myself it will be worth it's weight in gold, though.

I recently converted to LED's in bloom and want to say that I'm having to let them go a good 10 days longer the HPS. Plus a lot less fade. So you really need to watch the trich's. Here is my handheld microscope that I bought from Amazon for about $15.00
I like 10 to 20% amber.

Also here is another way check the plant that only requires a magnifying glass.

checked on the girls this morning. they are still pretty thirsty, need water after a few days. ordered a little microscope. i think the GSC needs to fill out a bit. i looked at a bunch of other grows. i think the GDP is on track, but the microscope will tell me more. going to water/feed tonight. hopefully have enough time to take some organized pics for you guys.

thanks for all the help on this one guys. i got my microscope, and nowhere near ready to harvest. all trich's clear as glass on both sets of plants. also they needed another watering last night so i watered and fed them. i've been letting the tent stay cool under the premise of you harvest in the fall when it's cooler. any reason not to let it get in the 65 degree range? usually hovers around 68-70 lights on and dips to 65 at night and in the morning.

Just going on what I've read and been told, I'm keeping mine around 78-80 lights on and then 68-70 off as it's a sativa that likes light and warmth. Been told by couple of other growers that I could easily bump it up few degrees more 80-82 and possibly get better growth rates. They're not bad, so haven't seen the need to spend more on electricity. I've also been told by several growers in the area to try and keep temp fluctuations of no more than 10 degrees. Really suffered some extreme fluctuations early on in my grow, so talked to as many growers around here as possible about their experiences.

On a side note; before I was able to control the temp on my grow (just moved it last few days) my temp changes were reversed; cooler lights on than off. Perhaps this explains the really tight internode length my plants are keeping. I am using LEDs and have been told that they usu. keep shorter lengths too.
