You guys want to see his "res" yet if you would look, each plant site is his "res" in this setup. Your probably wanting to see his water delivery systems to the undercurrents right? Because the undercurrent is one big res itself lol

Yea i would love to check it all out.

But i was kinda thinking of how the water changes get done, and how he empties this setup.

i think he even has a light setup on his water that does something beneficial for it.

still learning the ways :rauch08:

OH OH OK ? First off there would be no way to have a system this size with out a large rez 200 gallons plus unless you could stay in your garden 24 hrs a day adding nutes and water. So your kind of wrong At this point both systems drink any where from 150 to 200 gallons every day or two so a large rez is critical if it was connected straight to the RO system it would do a zero dump out and the system would have no nutes in it. This is why I have a 250 gallon Rez if you look you can see it in some of the pics the rez is nuted up and allows the system to top its self off with fresh nutes.JACK

No uv light n the water just for the air Uv in water kills all the good stuff and bad If you have a chiller you should not get bad stuff, When I flush I have a 1200 gph mag drive pump with a hose that I stick in the epicenter and drain the system takes about 10 minutes. Then I fill it up with RO water and flush pretty easy..JACK

When the plants are small the Epicenter works great but as they grow and drink a rez is a must..JACK

Thanks bro..
You make it look way too easy.

Hope your feeling better bro..So far so good hoping it stays that way..JACK

yo jack,
sorry but i gotta ask again: do you feel the 40 inches between plants is sufficient or would you prefer more?
also, how close are your plants getting to the bulbs?
thanks man.

40" seem to be working with the 13 gallons I will be going with 50" centers, I really dont like answering these questions until all is said and done shit can change over night most of the bulbs are 12" away some a little closer. JACK

Thanks for the break down on the UV was wondering how that worked.

Sounds easy enough to empty just need a drain or garden near by.

Still would like to see the Res if we could

Awesome display so far... Any need to keep the epicenter + rez in a separate room?

Keep up the awesome show! Great work man... :cool0044:

A little update the plants have gotten so big and heavy the lids have started to buckel..:evilgrin0013:The roots are so thick and big the last few buckets where not getting the same amount of water after a few calls to the UC guru we made a temp fix we added a gravity feed from the bucket nearest the Epicenter we used 3/4 pvc and a 90 deg elbow with a uniseal and ran pvc to the last bucket gravity fed, I new this day would come and I would out grow the 8 gallon buckets but nothing I wasn't abel to fix, I attempted to try and move the roots to help the flow and they are solid like a brick solid from top to bottom It is hard to lift the lid (its fuckin crazy ):happy So I also slowed the pump down a little by closing the valve a 1/4 turn this will help keep the flow even the last 3 weeks its a dash to the end, I also started tying up the branches to the tomato cages some could not support the weight of the buds :anim_30: The 13 gallons with 3 " tubing will solve this and I will double up the lids..I can here some one saying I told you so..But in the end its a good problem to have and this system kicks ass...JACK:party0023:

Holy shit... I can imagine you've taken this system to the next level with those trees after only a month. So I guess the current Canna plus the other additives combined with the UC is working almost too great... I realize it's only the halfway point, but is there anything you would change on your nutrients? I see that you're using MagiCal and was wondering if you had any opinions on that vs CalMag? :wondering

On a side note, it doesn't sound like you have had any issue with Roots Excelurator and airstones... That's good news cuz I've been using it in my soil/coco pots and already I can see this is amazing stuff and I really want to use it in hydro on my next run. :cool

can we get some of that there root porn too? lol and some of that buckle action of the lid to make the haters mad?

jack, have you thought about hanging a bunch of nie ro col plant yoyo thingies? like maybe a 100 or so from the ceiling and you can have it to pull down whenever you need to support a cola or 2 :giggle

Jack,

I've been continuing to watch this thread pretty much nonstop. It looks like you're getting into the area that I've been wanting to know more about.

I now have the XXXL 13s in hand and have some more things to get ready before the grow is kicked in. So, it sounds like the root density is finally starting to cause flow problems for you. This one of the things I had been asking Daniel at UC about.

You mentioned using 90-degree elbows, is the supply side higher than the one on the receiving side? How high up on the sides of each bucket did you place the elbows (or how far down from the top edge of the bucket)? Since you said it's a gravity feed, I was assuming the receiving one was a little lower than the supplying one.

Is this something UC is planning to address later? What makes you think the 13s won't run into the same problem? Wouldn't you think the roots will just expand to fill any space you give them? Do you think it would be worth creating the ports before starting that would allow me to do this gravity feed later in the grow, just in case?

I'm also going to call UC and talk to them about getting a second set of lids so we don't have the 'buckling' problem you mentioned. With the size of the plants you're getting with the 8s, I'm a little daunted as to what I'll get with the 13s.

Also, I think something that was discussed in your former thread but wasn't mentioned in this one was what you're doing with the runoff from the dehumidifier. Are you just draining it out or are you draining it into the reservoir or epicenter?

With as much as those plants are eating every day, do you have a method for mixing the nutes and filling the reservoirs which makes it fast and easy? You're not using an intellidoser, right? I can't imagine how busy you must be!

Thanks again man. Unbelievable grow you got there and I am lovin watching it! Hella kudos!

First off there is no need to worry much. What size system are you running how many buckets? Second I am running 4 bulbs around most of the plants this causes some crazy growth, I would not go installing a gravity feed until I had the need for it and the 13 gallon buckets come with 3" tubing this will help the flow, The bucket nearest the epicenter always has more water when it comes to the 16 site this does not affect the plant growth what so ever beacuse some of my larger plants are the furthest ones.:rock I will take some pics and show how I installed the gravity feed.. JACK
