Sorry have no updated.. I got everything back up and running except the dirt plants I got thrown in with my uc stuff is growing exponentially faster then the uc shit.. They were in ready rooters which slowed down (by like 2.5 weeks!) the roots from hitting the water.. now they been in the water like a week now.. ONLY running base nutes really low, RO water, NO ph adjustments were needed.. 5.8 solid PH, CO2 and a little roots excel with the compost tea as someone described and ya.. the roots are looking like they been in system like everyone elses "3 days progress pics" but mine been in there over 3 weeks and hardly growing. I dont see any deficiencies and my temps are spot on.. I basically removed ALL issues from last failed run and still not getting anywhere.. WTF? I aint messed with the system at all, dont have buildup or algae or any issues.. plants just being little fuckers right now.. all my dirt ones that went in a week after the UC plants are 3 x as big...go figure. If they arent taking off in a week I am yanking them and putting a gun to my head.

Sup Jimmy... Got any Picts so we can try to figure this out and get things running smoothly for ya? I'm interested to know your CO2 level, ambient temps and RH, PPM stats at 0.5 conversion to EC, whether you're rocking RO or just base nutes with tap water, water level at the net pots, and finally how much Root Excel and compost you started with... :thinking

hey jimmy. I had a similar problem running Heavy16 with Roots Excel. What I ended up doing that GT recommended was doing a flush with Clearex. What I did rather than dumping my whole rez was fill up a 5 gallon bucket throw and air stone in it and let it sit for 20-30 mins in straight RO water with Clearex. Measure PPM before plant has been in and after. Every 2 plants I changed the RO water in the bucket or once my PPMs rose up.

After this I started to see new root growth and newer and faster plant growth on the little ones. Hope this helps

50ml of roots excel, TOTAL co2 at 1500ppm. Tent temp between 76-82 peak during day. RH >30% (Still one of my problems but misting room several times a day) Lights about 3' above plants. Water level is 1/2" below bottoms of net pots. My PPM conversion for my model of Hanna tri-meter says .7 TDS conversion and set at 450ppms. Tea was comprised of this: 2 handfuls of Ancheint forrest EWC in a nylon sock. 4 gal measurment mix of Great White (1 or 2 scoops, whatever label said for 4 gallons), 30ML of aquashield.. 4 gallons of RO water, 1 tblspoon of mollasses. Brewed with airstone for 48 hrs. Added at 1 cup per gallon @ 50 gallons so 3 gallons of tea.

This was the tea recipe from Farmer John.. now my total PPMS after adding tea is 550ppms. 5.8 ph. Total just checked PH it was 4.9 so I added 1.5 gallons of RO water that sits at 6.9 ph and it brought it back up to 5.9 and holding. Roots are exploding on 4/6 plants and roots long but few on other 2. I will add one cup of tea every three days.

Roots are bone white and growing great plants just are slow as fuck. Ill post of pics shortly. I just stopped the Co2.. im just wasting it. Water temps always at 67-69.

Okay, here's my thoughts... I'm assuming both the UC and soil plants were put in the tent at the same time and same size. I agree that CO2 is being wasted at this early stage of veg... Definitely need to increase the RH to at least 50%. Since you have shut off the CO2, but still have an AC running I'd check to make sure it isn't exhausting all the humidity from the area... What level is the RH at night w/o the AC running?

Next thing that comes to mind is a Magnesium deficiency... I'm not an organic expert, nor am I familiar with the tea, but it looks like your plants could use at little Mg... I also feel that you should have the water level 1" above the bottom of the net pots... This will help the roots explode during veg. The level shown in your Picts at 1" below the net pots is where I have mine during bloom. I strongly feel that if you can adjust these variables, you will see improvement... All other stats seem on point and clearly your soil plants are doing well... :cool

I had my water level a little below because the clones came in that brown spongy shit and they were water logging.. Maybe ill bring it back up to just touching the netpots. I gotta get a nice grow humidifier..I need to be at about 60% RH ideally. No AC running this room is upstairs and humidity is just non existent with 2k of lights in a tent. I just have a maxfan 8" cooling the hoods. Sealed. Soil plants went in 1 week AFTER UC stuff..go figure.

Well I definitely understand your concern about not wanting to risk root rot... Just want you to know that I planted half of my girls at the top of the net pots and the other half at the bottom with a single layer of hydroton beneath... Some were in rapid rooters and some were in 1" rockwool cubes... No difference between either. I also agree that the RH should be 60%, but at least 50%... in reality, 2K of lumens seems a bit much at this stage... Not sure if you have digital ballasts to dial down the watts and still have coverage from both hoods. In any event, good luck and I'm sending you positive vibes and good karma... :damnhippie:

Thanks man..have to see what happens..the lights are 4' above I just checked with a tape measure..plus they had first 2.5 weeks with only one light on til roots popped before I gave them the 2k blast..so I dunno..Ill wait a week..get my humidity up and if not good enough improvement maybe someone who isn't a dipshit will be new proud owner of my UC.

NEVER AGAIN will I put rapid rooter clones in system..SOOO slow waiting for roots to pop..when I barebacked it last run (ez cloner) I had shoots 3 days later.

Everything sounds acceptable bro. and they don't look bad.
You need to raise the RH but you know that. They def. need added cal/mag (I recommend Magical) which will bump the PPM's up a bit (150 ppm of cal/mag is good).
As crazy as it might sound, i'm thinking your meter is wrong about the PH and you're running to alkaline. Go get a ph test kit from the hydro shop or any aquarium supply store and check your PH (the drops and bottle ph kit). I have had 4 of those meters and the PH probe goes wacky fast...calibration of that meter is also very hard to get right.
If it is in fact the meter it would explain a whole lot, and be a simple problem to solve.

First time using the meter.. its brand new. Took 2 mins to calibrate and I also had my hydro shop do it for me. I got the drops and bottle ph kit.. ill run that tomorrow. Oh ya forgot to add my original nute mix was started with 150 ppms of CalMag, bonicare. I just forgot because I added it right after the rez filled with RO. My meter model is: Hanna Tri-Meter - pH/TDS/Temp. (HI981504/7) (eco-5529A)TDS Factor 0.5 (HI 981504/5) or 0.7 (HI 981504/7)

My Hanna 98129's pH probe finally crapped out on me after a year and a half of heavy use... I love the damn thing, but was tripping two days ago when my soil plants didn't look right. So I checked my UC and thought there's no fucking way the pH had dropped so much... After calibrating a few times, I confirmed that my pH probe was indeed toast. Today I picked up a new probe and now I'm back in business. The 98129 is hands down the best investment I've made to date... Good luck bro... You'll be rocking soon enough! :rock

Rooted cuttings should be started at no more than 150-200 ppm in this system

Cut your nutes to like 200 ppm and let your plants begin to uptake water and grow before increasing from there....normally at about 10-15% increase in ppm per week.

If you're not willing to run the system at these reduced ppm's you'll continue to struggle as your plants will basically sit dehydrated in a salty solution.

Based on the fact you're running the system again, it's clear you're determined to make it work....but reduce your nutes or you'll be punching yourself in the proverbial face once again.

If I seem to be repeating myself about the ppm's, it's only because I learned the hard way myself and I'd really like to see you succeed, especially given the sacrifice you've made defending our country....which I appreciate very much brother, sincerely.

Did the old school ph drops and water test and it does correlate accurately to the Hanna Meter reading as suspected.. since its new.
