Day 6 and I'm just blown away how these have come along. I just want to tell anything new that if there's one thing that I can offer is do NOT follow the directions on the back of the bottle, at least if you're using Canna A B. Start with half and see what happens. Hell, I'm still only feeding half strength because I don't want to go through any crap like I did when they started. Seems like it's working on to me.

I'm going to experiment with some Canna Boost (sparingly) in a couple a days and see where that takes me.

I need to do some defoliating this weekend as it's getting really thick and it's a struggle to keep that humidity hovering around 50 as it is and I think that will help with that too.

Kind of a little (I hope) scare this morning. I miss nutes for two days worth and let it bubble until it's used. Yes, the pH does go up the next morning after bring prepared. So I lower it to 5.8 to 5.9. the next morning it jumps to 6.1 to 6.2. so I adjust and feed

This happened for the second of the two the following day ( this morning) and I spaced to check the pH. Tested runoff and it was nearly 6.3. I'm not sure if I needed to but I quickly mixed up a single batch to re water in hopefully litter the pH. So I watered again with 5.8 and the runoff was a whisker over 6. I'm hoping I didn't screw something up. My thinking is it's fine but I won't know till tonight.

Aquaman, it seems is this is your wheelhouse. Is this no biggie?

No problem. You’re still in the acceptable pH range for coco.

I've read a couple places that sometimes it's good to fluctuate within that range to make everything available at different levels throughout that range.

Is that valid?

Yes. Allowing the pH to float up or down a few points within the acceptable range is desired. As different elements are more available at various pH levels.

Hey all. I just have a quick question. I've done a good bit of reasech this morning but I wanted to get your take. Sorry if this an old and boring question.

If I'm feeding around 760ppm and the runoff is a little over 1000ppms, is this something to be alarmed about? There have been times it was lower I thought maybe that was a good thing and they're eating, but higher suggests salt buildup that could result in lockout of some sort.

So, is that in the acceptable range? If not, feed more frequently with deluted solution?

Thanks

I don’t like runoff to go more than 100 ppm over my input. An increase in the runoff ppm could indicate buildup. As the plant grows it will require more water. If it’s drinking more than it’s eating, the coco will become too dry between events and will cause tip burn. Don’t decrease the strength, simply increase the fertigation events per day. I just recently went from 4x to 5x a day for the same reason.

Don’t think of it like you’re feeding your plants more per day. Think of it like you’re resetting the coco with fresh nutrient solution more often each day.

Thanks, Enforcer. Also I was thinking my runoff percentage was a little light. I don't even think it was 15% and even I know better.

Time to start mixing.

Thank you! Pretty damn proud of those girls. It really is a thrill and it happens so fast.

The only thing I'm not a fan of is mixing those nutes every other day. I need to come up with a solution to mixing in 5 gallon orange buckets. I suppose I can get an actual reservoir that's big enough to hold 5-7 days worth. If you guys have any suggestions, I'm still all ears. I was thinking of going to soil on the next one (cuttings were transplanted about an hour ago) but if I can figure the reservoir thing, I think I'm sticking with coco.

27gal black/yellow Tuff Tote from Home Depot. They cost under $10 and lasts me about a week.

Nice. Thanks guys. Once again, the simplest answer is the best one.

I just watered again and the ppm difference is under 100. 91 to be exact.

I just noticed the two highest tops and an ever so slight discoloration on the tips of the leaves. Tiny and just those two tops but I fear I burned her. Damnit. I was hoping it was a little wind burn since it's only those two tops, but I don't think so. I just read that I should cut that whole branch down? That makes no sense to me. Seems like I can just clip those peices off, but that doesn't seem right either. It's crazy because it's only those, but I suspect they're just the first ones to show it. The other girl is fine and no problems.

That runoff looks fine to me. I like to see it come out slightly higher than it is going in, but like was said not too much.

And I wouldnt sweat the odd leaf going a little funky. I dont think I've grown many crops over the years where there wasnt at least one odd leaf. Consider a threshold for taking corrective action. If it's only on 1% of all your plant matter it's probably an isolated thing and not worth trying to fix (with the obvious exception of budrot and PM). If it's on 20%, that's a different thing.

Seeing as its only on the highest tops I'd be suspicious of the light being a bit too close.

You may just need to water more often. Don’t cut anything though. The burnt tips won’t repair but there’s no need to cut them off.
