You can not use outside links for images here at the farm. You must use the" Upload a File " just below the text box, and load images directly. Best of luck.

Greetings Everyone!
First time grower here, just moved from Texas to France and my wife suggested I try growing here and since the laws are so damn extreme in Texas I never made a real effort until now.

Well I was only going to buy Feminized Seeds, from Nirvana since my wife sent me the link and I was like HELL YEA, let's do this!! When reviewing the website I noticed that, there are these plants called Automatics, same types of strains as 100% Fem Seeds, but also Autos. So instead of just rushing in I did some research(being 35 now lands a tad bit more patience). So after reading up on Cannabis, the adifferences of Fem, Reg & Auto. I learned about Ruderalis(I knew Indica & Sativa) and how it's basically no THC, but the sites claim all these high %'s in there Auto strains. So more research and come to find out, a revolution has occurred while I was out working my whole life in the oil field down in Texas. After years and years and cross-breeding and continuous re-breeding they have learned to push the ruderalis down to as low as 10%(maybe lower) but still keep all the positives of it's properties like pest, mold, weather and light control and now get close to 80-90% of the Feminized cross bread properties. And also noticed that it's 100% easier for beginners, since the amount of info for this "life style" is jam packed with massive loads of new and old info. What to do what not to do, when to do when not to do, etc... So after reading and watching countless youtube videos I decided Auto is my starting path. I ordered from 5 different Seed banks(all thru Zativo.com for bonus seeds and stuff), ended up with Royal Queen Seeds (Amnesia Haze, Northern Light & White Widow), Pyramid Seeds (Anubis, Purple & Blue Pyramid), Kanniba Seeds (Gnomo & Amnesi-k), Zativo Seeds (Amnesia Haze, Bubble Kush, Amnesia Skunk, Jack Herer & Kalashnikov).

I know what some of you are thinking, these strains are only 15-18% in THC, why not go bigger? Well honestly it's been a while since I've been able to smoke since I was forced to take Hair Folicle tests randomly for my work, and making 27$/hr was worth holding out. But that's the past, I live in France, a train ride away from Amersterdam and other awesome cities. And since my wife is a doctor, I'm learning the language and learning the trade of Cannabis for the next year. So with all that being said you have my history and you know a little about me.(Sorry if I bored you, and lol if you didn't have the energy to read all that, no prob's here ;) ).

On to business - I started with 2 strains first from Pyramid Seeds only because they claim to be 56 day grows, and obviously I didn't find this place first or would have realized how to prolong the Auto's life(if you wanted too). But that's the past and the process has begun. I am now in Day #13 after germination in the baggie method(both sprouted in bags). I purchased two 3 gallon buckets and filled with organic universal soil with nutrients already in the soil. I filled them to the top and flushed and flushed and flushed(thought I was supposed to flush like crazy the first time). And I also read that if you do the cup method for initial root growth it would help with spending less energy on the roots searching for the walls and work on growing upwards more initially. So I did that, I took a liter water bottle and cut it open on both end and it was about 5" long and buried it half way down in the soil and planted the seed in the middle of that(no rooting gel- didnt have any yet).

And then I read later that if you have too much soil on a short Auto life span, then less soil is better, because of less time for roots finding all their limits at the outer extremities. So on Day #7 - I carefully removed some soil around down about half way around the cup but not disturbing the bottle with the seed and sprout. And adding back about half with perlite mixed in this time. It looked like this afterwards.

Do you think this will cause problems? Me changing the soil(medium) on day 7, since the bottle probably had most of the roots inside at the time. I honestly didn't see or look disturbed. And this was the first day I added water to the plants(PH6.5) since it's first flushing before planting the seeds and also Root IT rooting gel 2ml into the area beside the sprout.

Ok first Day 1 of planting I only had 2x T8 6500k 18w FL lights 2,880 lumen(I honestly thought they were T5's but see I'm a newbie). And by Day 10 I also added a Grow 5U 6400k 125w CFL light into the mix for a total of = 8,480 lumen.

All this inside a big closet room, I place white nylon(like) cloth over all the walls and added this reflective aluminum tape(heat resistance).
(this picture has a 3rd plant I started on day 10 - Gnomo Automatico) but it's for set-up viewing purposes basically.

Day 11 I added my first batch of Nutrients(BioThrive - Grow 3-1-6) ratio 1 ml to 1o liter until water was flowing from pour holes at the bottom. For information purposes added rooting gel in Gnomo before planting seed this time since I finally had the gel and used PH water.

Day 12 - Changed ventilation set-up also, went from a 105m(h) vent fan(used as a fan instead) to a 40w (30cm) fan and then used my vent fan for it's intended purposes(will add my 300m(h) vent fan when smell starts to produce. Also raised everything to be closer to the lights, I was thinking since the plants weren't growing very fast(Anubis was but not Purple as much), that they needed to absorb
the light better. I try to run a 21/3 light schedule for the most part, but can't always be there. Oh yea I added a Venus Fly Trap and a Pitcher Plant both carnivorous plants for insects and wanderings bugs(is this a problem? should I immediately remove?)

Gnomo on Day 3 seems to be kicking butt with the improved conditions from it's beginning vs A&P having changes over the first 12 days. But now everything is set up the way I want it(I hope you guys approve and give any info on mistakes or improvements) Can't wait to hear from the resident experts here. I plan to be a regular from this point on, AUTO ON!

trust me i tried and tried and tried, but as a staff member informed me that you can't bring outside URL links into this site, like a photo hosting site. i looked and looked for a place upload the pics on to this site but found nothing. Oh and like i said before i did do what you said and it would show the picture when i was writing the post but after it gets removed(just like the staff members says it will) so im not sure how you get it to work.

Its just copying a web adress and pasting it, maybe its because it has marywanna in the url name, if you spell that word here it gets edited.

First off: NICE JB on building your little 'grow box' there. You seem to have the basics for your sprouts to get STARTED....THAT being said, I see you have about 3 different plants/strains in there with a fan for circulation and one (I'm guessing?) in there for exhaust/smell, etc. The first issue I see RIGHT OFF is that you are using a CFL(s)? Looks like at least a 100 watt, no? First off there is NOTHING WRONG, imho, using CFL's (that's ALL I've used since I've been growing AND I also grow autos mainly) so I don't see any problems there...except the AMOUNT OF THEM AND DISTANCE OF THEM FROM THE PLANTS! If you only have the ONE CFL running, right now, that's fine; especially in early stages...BUT you're DEFINITELY GONNA want to either move the LIGHS CLOSER TO THE PLANTS or vice versa. For one, it's gonna cause those little girls to STRETCH toward the light source and if they have to do that so early on it will cause them to be tall (not bad) but thin and spindly plants that, come flower time, WONT be able to hold themselves and/or their buds so I'd DEFINITELY suggest closing that plant/Lghts source gap AND, sooner than later ADDING MORE LIGHTS! You can add more CFL's, LEDS, HPS, MH, ETC...WHATEVER YOU WANT but MORE LIGHT=more growth=bigger plants=bigger and MORE BUDS =...well, you get the idea....I guess I'll leave it there for now. Just em ember that you're DEFINITELY in the RIGHT PLACE being new to growing as there are SO MANY great, cool and truly benevolent people who are VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE on this stuff that frequent this thread and these forums in general that are VERY generous with their time and help so DONT HESTATE to ask for help WITH WHATEVER YOU'RE DEALING WITH along the way towards your goal!!

Man that feels GREAT! hearing you say "NICE JOB on my setup" I spent alot of hours researching working and on this baby, and it feels like its a on-going process. But first to answer your questions - Yes that big fan is for circulation 3 speeds (40watt - 12" / 30 cm blade) and Yes that is an exhaust/ventilation fan at the top (105 mc/h or meters squared per hour - 4" / 100 mm) . And I just received my 300 mc/h - 6" / 150 mm vent fan yesterday and plan to install it soon. Next question, the CFL in the middle is a 125watt Grow 5U 6400k that has 5,600 lumen(bought it from a grow shop here in France), and the other 2 are FL's 18watt T8 6500k combined 2,880 lumen for a grand total of 8,480 lumen in my grow box, and from everything I've read yield is ALL about LUMEN. So I beefed up my set-up. Originally all I had was those 2 T8's which my dumbass thought were T5's because they said 6500k and were fluorescent lights, which I read where great for growing and saving power and low on heat. So that's why those two are in there also. But i've already invested over 350 euros(basically US $400) on the set-up and I'm gonna stick with these 3 lights for now. But 8,480 Lumen for these 3 in this room should give me an ok amount for my first grow and it's only for me anyways. BUT I did do exactly what you said and moved all of the plants UP towards the lights, they are now only about 13-14" / 33-34cm away from the lights now. I was scared I was going to burn the plants up so I didn't get them that high, but after what you said about them trying to stretch up to the light made alot of sense, so I'd rather let them stay smaller and stronger(base stems) and lower the plants as the plant grows. Unfortunately this set-up I can't install any ballast that can be moved up and down, so the plants will be raised and lowered instead. But I have taken new pics for you to inspect and would love any more input. I also took pics of the top of the grow room so you can see I have reflective aluminum tape(heat resistance) all over the ceiling and side of the walls for maximum light exposure. Well here are my Day 14 pics - THANKS again for replying, and yes I plan to become a regular and one day an advisor to new comers - thanks to everyone here!

P.S. I also have my 125watt BLOOM 2100k CFL and two 18watt T8 2700K FL's for the flowering stage. So they will have the proper lighting for both cycles. Can anyone tell me why these leaves look droopy(Purple)? vs my other plant Anubis. Both planted and started at the same time and grown in exact same grow room. Much appreciated for any information. I was thinking it was just that type of strain, but it's my first grow and of course I'm super paranoid about every step.

Ive decided to step up to a 250watt 5U 2100k - rated 11,200 lumens (ranges 11,000-11,500 lumens) for my flowering stage, that added to my already two T8's 2700k 18w that combine for 2,880 Lumens that would put me over 14,000 Lumens. That should definitely be enough right? It's only a closet with 3 Auto strain plants, I have the appropriate color spectrum for both life cycles but the Grow stage will only have 8,280 - 8,880 Lumens and the Flower stage will now have 13,880 - 14,380 Lumens. I'm really hoping me UP the Lumens for the flowering stage doesn't stunt or cause damage or something I don't know anything about. I can always use this 125watt 5U 2100k(5,600 - 6,000 Lumens) instead since I already purchased it. But I can't find a dual spectrum 250watt here in France around my area.

this first pic is what I'm using for my Grow stage right now, the rest are ideas for my flower stage. I have a few more weeks to decide, but after what I was informed in here I should UP the lighting power.

I'm gonna guess overwatering?? Again, just a guess because I know that when I first started a tended to water a BIT too much for the little ones....ALSO just in my travels around the forum as of late I've seen a BUNCH of people have the same symptom/problem and the con census from some of the vets on here came to the same conclusion. It's easy to overwater; ESPECIALLY when you're starting out as a grower AND just starting out on a grow/plant. I know I always thought that when something was wrong with my plant it must NEED something that it's LACKING that I haven't given it; hey, we coddle our kids am I right? But more often than not its that the plant/seedling is getting MORE than it can handle that early because it's stil got a fairly small, simple root structure. Simply put: more is less early on. I've saved plants from arid temps and soil but 'draining a swamp' is near impossible without further injuring the plant. Give them JUST enough water and MAYBE a little rooting hormone and they'll thank you. Roots, by nature, are going to SEARCH for water if it's not readily available so by giving it ONLY what it needs and letting it BE for a day or 3 will make the roots SEARCH for sources of water and nourishment. Think of it like making them (the roots) train for a road race...if they have to look for water it'll stretch and strengthen your root structure/zone and healthy roots make healthy plants Good Luck!! and keep em COLORFUL and GROWING!!!

Oh yeah, one more thing. A question: The 'front door/flap' or your grow box.....you DO have some kind of reflective material (Mylar, even some bright white plastic will do) on that bad boy, right? I can't quite tell with the pictures.....AHHH, it reminds me of my first grow. Super Jerry-rigged with a couple t5's or t8's along with some more CFLS for X tra/side lighting and the raising/lowering mechanism broke on mine too!! So I had to stack books to bring the PLANTS to the LIGHT!! Hell, I even had a homemade cardboard 'door' covered in tin foil, lol!!! Was growing some mid-grade bag seed with it. I used Miracle Grow Soil and their 'feeding spikes' and probly watered EM with the miracle grow feed too!! During flowering I started feeding molasses.....WOW, how FAR IVE COME!!! Lol. Granted this was back in 2008 or so and the market was NOTHING like it is now!!! You can get pretty much everything you need on Amazon and weed was STILL, across the board/country a SCHEDULE 1 drug alongside Heroin and Meth!!! How FAR we have come! I can't wait to see how different it'll be EIGHT YEARS FROM NOW!!!!

Yes it has a aluminum tape on it, its sticky relective tape. its all over all 4 walls. even below the pots themselves, i went overboard with the shit, used 2 huge rolls. but yes everything is jerry rigged except the mounting of the CFL light, i used proper mounting for that. Oh and I just ordered a
Luminous (lm) - Warm White 2700K - RED - 250w - 15000 lm (EnviroGro) for my Flower stage. So it will actually be a grand total of 17,480 lumens (give or take according to actually ranges) But I completely beefing up my flower stage. Next round I'll do the same with the grow stage but I'll have to deal with 8,480 Lumens for vegging stage. So do I need to raise even higher? they say these CFL lights im using are harmless and can be as close as 3" away. And thanks I'm sure I've overwatered the plants, not bad but yes. I waited 10 days to 7 days to water, and 10 days to give veg nutes, which was 3 days later(and twice on that 10th day) so I'm sure that was it. well Ive only added a tiny bit of water since and only in the cup part this time. that was 2 days ago. I'm going to wait until i feel a dry soil before adding again. I really appreciate the help. It's like you say all this new info everywhere that wasnt there before and Im trying to learn it all, BRAIN OVERLOAD. Love hearing your info man.

Some pics of plant #1 of TWO. It's an Auto Fem. Northern Lights from Vision Seeds. This one is, roughly. In week 4 of bloom. ...hopefully you can see all the flowering sites along the top canopy. THAT was, in large part, due to some LST AND Supercropping that I HAD to employ to avoid her growing into the lights along with, I'm pretty sure its visible in some of the pics, that I DID prune off ALL of the, roughly, lower 1/3 of the plants would-be 'larfy' branches AND the larger fan leaves. I did all this to aid in air circulation to flow freely UP INTO the canopy AND so that the plant put more/most of its energy to go to the FLOWERS that were getting the most light (now) and (time will tell) when I start the harvest that if the buds/colas on top, closest to the light and, more the more 'developed' buds, after being chopped, will expose the bud sites/flowers to the lights and 'mature' therefore allowing me to harvest, essentially, in stages....I hope the pics are clear enough so that y'all can see them well enough to comment/give feedback.

that's kind of a bummer this thread seems to be dead now a days. Really appreciate all the info in the beginning of this this forum in 2014 until now. Lots of info has helped me help better understand the basically understandings. Just would be nice to see active member in here now that I'm finally up and running and apart of the Auto-flowering movement. Anyways thanks again for all the info this thread has provided, and may healthy thriving and bountiful yields be in your near and distance future.

Oh by the way I started my LST on my Anubis strain 16 days after germination, had to bend the stem in 2 45 degree angles to get the 90 degree i needed and she seems to be responding extremely fast and is still pushing forward and the stem as fully recovered in about 2-3 days. just not sure exactly how long to wait on the second LST clockwise pull. I want to make a circular motion and let all the new colas sprout and thrive upwards helping create more yields. Although Purple has only today seemed to show signs of being ready for a LST training at day 24. The separation of groups of stems never quite happened until this last time i looked. It always seemed to be a dense bush of leaves(growing in all directions kind of) but i did over water it in the very beginning and I think it took at least 5 days to recover and that's why she is about 6 days behind Anubis in what Im hoping to be a quality time for LST training. And Gnomo is kicking ass.
Havent seen any signs of lack of nutes or nute burns. Only the droopiness of Purple in the beginning when I over watered her. and she is still droopy but not like before I just believe her strain type of leaves doesnt spring way upwards like Anubis or way up like GSC. But all in all looking great for my first grow ever. thank again
