A 5 ton will do 15 lighs. Jack runs 15k per 5 ton as well. 16k will keep the room in the 79-80F but the AC gets beat to hell. Never gets a break when the lights turn on. Runs for 20 mins straight then takes a 2-3 min break before it has to cool again. 15k runs more smoothly.

This schedule is fine for the equipment. Cycling too often is more detrimental as its less efficient and leads to more wear sooner.

I can't get the picture too rotate. But what do you guys think about this? This is the best I can come up with to avoid hot spots. Right now there's 8 reflectors in that space like I posted above.

12k runs for about 10 mins takes a 5 min break and kicks back on. I don't even have to run a dehuey during lights on humidity stays perfect at 45-50% 15k runs great as well. Runs for about 15 mins and takes around 4 min break. This is all with. 4 burner propane gen as well. That extra 16th light though just pushes it to the max.

Ttystikk- does the spacing in between look good?

If that's from edge of hood to edge of hood, you should be okay. If it's a center to center measurement, I think it's a bit close.

Cool. Wings as wide as they go, bulb at the bottom.

...and the higher you can get them, the better.

I got them as wide as possible and bulbs on low and as high as they go. I'll just change the pattern tonight and see what happens. I really hope it fixes the problems. I don't want to change hoods.

Never hurts to let them swing, and aim a fan or two up at them to encourage a bit of sway.

IMHO, everyone is missing the boat on the killer application for these wings; light rotators! Because they have such a wide pattern and the light can shine so far to the side, it's a match made in lumen heaven!

If the light completes a full revolution in less than five minutes there will be no hot spots either, even though you'll be able to lower the hood down to within a foot of the plant tops- all because the light is moving. No leaf shading, same reason.

I've done this exact setup with a blooming space eight feet across, or 50 sq ft, and to be effective, you'll need to train your plants so they are broad and flat across the top, and of uniform height. This is necessary so you can most effectively manage your bulb to plant distance.

I ran two stages of bloom under mine, of six plants each. Harvested every three weeks, averaged 4 zips per, in 3 gallon nursery cans full of potting soil, with miracle grow at 1/4tsp per gallon. Oh yeah, forgot about the bulb; it was over three years old! Surely we can do even better today.

Light rotators, I heard you talk about them...is this something you can by, or do you have to build yourself? I have 11 oscillating fans in the room, and the 5 ton ducting runs in between the hoods. So it blows on the hoods, and moves them around. I'm excited to get these hoods changed around tonight. Get these bad boys dialed. I see guys pulling 2.5 a light 2 all day with low yielding OG's it's impressive, jack pulls 2.2 sometimes with OG's. his plant count is crazy though.

It can be done, and cheap! This is what cemented my 'mad scientist' reputation for all time, LOL

The only thing I would change is the reflector; the one in the pic was a disaster for the application, and this combo probably did a lot for the bad rep of light rotator in general. An adjust-a-wing would be the business...

Pretty sure he runs more than 5 ton per 15...but it's been a while since jack was here and I stopped reading his threads as he seemed more about boosting his ego that actually helping people. Regardless, I think you are spreading your cooling just a little thin. I like to drop temps when I cut my co2, and if you don't have that extra cooling power.....

Yeah the webiste says a 7x6 area....and I think I wound up doing a 6x5 with them and that when I really killed it with my awings. My first run with them I actually wound up doing something similar to what dutchtouch does.....and that was a great run as well.

Got ur message Tree, honestly I don't kno man. I've only had a couple tops light bleached over the years and they were closer to the bulb then the edge(although I agree the light is real concentrated on the edge of hood reflector). My guess is its a lot of factors not jus plant/hood placement. I think some plants are more sensitive, I think VDP comes into play and also feeding vs transperation. I do agree with Ttystikk trick about having a fan slightly hit the hoods, it'll cause them to swing a lil and spread out hot spots some as well as move hot air away from the bulb.

Yea he runs 2 5 tons per 30k room. He keeps his temps high the lowest he goes is 78 at the end. Keeps it at 82 in the beginning and 79-80 thought the first 3 weeks. I'll be re arranging my hoods tonight. So i think I'll be right around 6x5 area per hood. I'll know tonight when I get balls deep into it. Thanks

I do believe it was a few factors way too many hoods in one space especially the adjusta wings. Since turning them down to 750watts again the middle row is putting out green growth again with no stress. I just want to run at 1000watts so ill be doing 6 hoods there. I'll workout some mastermind shit tonight. Your plants are beautiful man. Thanks for the reply!

I didn't either, but an old clunker mtn bike and a junkyard wiper motor were both cheap and effective.

I still have the old thing- and an a-wing now, too... hmmmm...

Nah, not today. I have enough projects to finish as it is!

I just spaced the lights farther apart last night. Ill get a picture or two up. The hot spots are nowhere near as bad. Now its just more of overlapping. I removed the extra 2 hoods so now there's 6 hoods. Each hood is in a perfect 5x5 area. That's all the space I had to work with. Turned them up to 1000watt mode well. Thanks again guys
