This is my first post. I thought I had posted this earlier but I can’t find it. I’m assuming I did something wrong. Anyway, I setting up a 7 1/2’ X 7 1/2’ space. The lights I’m interested in are the HLG 600 Rspec. Are these good ? Sure are pricey, they were recommended by a friend.
Just getting started, have lots of questions too ! Hope I didn’t double post.
Thanks

That space will need 2 of those lights. They are amazing though. They get really great canopy penatration and grow large dense buds

Thanks ! Should I cover the walls with Mylar ? Can O use those lights to veg to flower or do I need a separate veg area ?

Cool, what about the veg area ? Does it need to be separate ?
Thanks

You can use the same area, just flip the time from 18/6 veg to 12/12 flower when its time.

well, you cant flower and veg at the same time unless one of them are autos...

if you want to do perpetual cycles then yes.

They all will be starting at the same time. Showing my ignorance but what is dli ?
Thanks

I use that light for veg and flower, it creates tight node spacing. Keep an eye on your dli. Leds can burn the plants pretty quick.
DLI is critical to your grow. Once you know that, you know 90% of the other parameters you need.

When you are growing, everything has a balance point. The balance point is based on how much light the plants get and how long they get it for. When you veg, you don't go over 65%-70% on your lights because when you flip to flower, (shorter amount of time) the DLI changes and you need to turn them up to 100% to balance it.

Thanks, I’m starting to to see the bigger picture. Was just on the middle of the video, looks like measuring instruments are next purchase. I want to do this right. I’m not jumping in and then oops? What happened to my plants. Any suggestions on instruments ?
Thanks

apera/blue laps for PH
can use smartphone apps for PPFD meters not 100% accurate but gives a good idea
just about any TDS/EC meter will work.

Apogee makes the best. But they are not cheap.
We use a regular LUX meter and calculate the DLI from the conversion formulas.
It's not super accurate, but we are not growing for a dispo either.

Great, next purchase. I don’t know what they are, but I’ll figure that out !!

Before you buy ANYTHING, decide how you are going to grow. That determines what you will really need.
1. Organic
a. Feed Dirt
b. Living soil
2. Hydroponics
3. Airponics
4. Aquaponics

Those are your choices with millions of variations in each.
