and that was about 2 years ago, however, about 2 months ago i did use some fox farm but now im using coco.

i thought theyd get root bound
Root bound means different thing to different people. For us, it means that the plant has eaten all the food. If you do a measure and weigh the soil before and after, you will see that you are missing some. As long as the plant is finding food, it's fine. It's still within the 'bounds' of the pot, but its all good.

thanks for the clarification!

I think I’ll start with soil to get started, try to get basic skills then move on to more sophisticated methods. Thanks very much, lots to learn, appreciate your help.

Take a look at Kingbrite before you order.

I have Kingbrite with lm301h and love it.

I have just ordered a top end HLG, so it will be interesting to compare what they grow.

Soil is a commitment. Whether you're buying bags of premixed or making your own, hauling bags of whatever soil or ingredients for soil gets old fast. Then you have to consider disposing soil after a grow and dirtying up your home and cleaning, etc.. I'm too lazy for that. This applies to soilless mediums such as promix as well and is one of the main reasons why i switched. Just throwing that out there for consideration. You have to find a medium that suits your grow style and living situation. It takes some time and experimentation. Good luck on your journey! Growing is just as fun as partaking. You'll be hooked.

We reuse the soil. It's already charged up and good to go. We just add a small amount of amendments and replant. No waste. Hauling soil? what do you have, 200 plants?

Well, I pulled the trigger, ordered two HLG 600, testing meter, felt pots, and a humidifier, very dry in this building. Oh and a small fan. I’m painting the room today. Everything is supposed to get here by Tuesday hopefully.
I’ll start a grow thread when I start
Thanks to everyone, hope you’ll be along for the ride. I’m sure I’ll need help šŸ¤“

Not at all. I'm just not a fan on lugging around bags of peat, amendments, worm castings, making a mess at home, etc. Believe me, I know the problem was with the grower not the style of growing. I'm sure i overcomplicated things but even so, i realized soil just isn't my thing. To me it was a commitment that I wasn't committed to. That said, my wife did reuse all the soil for the garden and some her houseplants which did extremely well with it. haha

Yup I like the smell of soil

but I’m done fucking with all those bags

Yeah, fuckings bags is not fun !! šŸ˜ŠšŸ¤“
Hahaha
I was using fox farm ocean forest with 5gals but that’s unncessary

so I’m using JUST coco maybe some perlite.

solo cups and 1-3 gallon taller than wide containers. For more watering

doing a slight NFT hybrid with the coco.
