Air layering direct to flower

There's a thread on air layering (method of making clones) in the room design forum and I thought my question about it would get more views here.

Here's the thread:


My question is this:

What if you did this to the lower branches of a plant in flower and then rooted the cut clones under 12/12 light? Would that work to shorten your veg period to nearly zero and just rely on the stretch for your growth? An 18 inch cut should be ready for the flower room, right?

I guess I'll experiment with it and see how it works and let you know. It's not like it's going to cost me anything but some time.

I'm not sure where I read it, but the info is out there that the absolute best time to air layer cannabis (or any high dollar crop where ur in search of a high yield) is right as the plant begins to flower. In this way the plant can have an entire root system for each cola and after roofing has taken place they can be either grown in soil or hydro....
