i can't imagine that car with over 700ft/lbs of torque like this guy is running. i had a '68 SS. the rear end was so light it was ridiculous. it would take some major work to transfer that sort of torque to the pavement.
I'm close to that... Full frame Chassis Works Canted 4 link rear suspension (for Road Racing) Rack and Pinion front, coil over shocks on all 4 corners ($350ea) 650 hp. / 650 ft lb torque @ 5200 rpm on A Gear Vendors overdrive with A bullet proof 3.70 Currie 9" good for 2000 H.P. It's A Fuckin' Beast and only in full street trim right now...

it's a lot of hassle having one of those on the street. i had a buddy in the late 70's with a built '69 SS, 550hp, we'd cruise around in. every cop that saw heard it would pull him over. i thought i was bad running a twice-a-month average of getting pulled over between my bikes and my car. he was seeing red lights in his mirror nearly every day.

I believe that is the fastest car authorized for civilian use. The Veyron kicks some serious friggin ass.

i pulled up right next to one on pch last year . . . . 'said to my wife, "Honey, see that car next to you? It cost $1.5 million." She screams, "GET AWAY FROM IT!"

It's A Non Issue, for me at least, I'm all over the place in it and on A built, piped out Ducati Monster on A regular basis (Zero Tickets) You can't even tell whats in it unless your underneath it. Slammed on the ground on huge tires designed for the Z-06 Corvette (245/40/17 front 315/35/17 rear ) with similar suspension (my engine came stock in the Z06 but it's far from it) and Wheels custom cut for me by Budnick. It's All Sleeper, 3" mandrel bent exhaust, Kooks long tube headers and Borla Mufflers. I drive it and No One even gives it A glance unless I'm on it heavy, and I mean REAL HEAVY it just has A deep and low note as opposed to screaming. People are clueless it's A small block @ 427 cubic inches just the way I wanted it... Looks are deceiving and purposely built that way to my advantage. Flash programming with A Laptop and A couple of tweaks and I'm @ 850 H.P. No Problamo...

You must not be familiar with the Silver State Classic that was in Nevada back in the day... Point A to Point B, Approx 175 Miles of Freeway shut down where you Run what You Bring... The records are still available, Many Super Cars Tried and Failed. It was the beginning of the 200mph club as they called it, (Average over the 175 mile run, Big Red hit speeds over 230 mph @ points along it) If it was due to Fear of Crashing A Super Car or Other Reasons, they just didn't rise to the top. That included Lambo's and Ferrari along with all the others. They all Come to the Mohave Mile / Texas Mile and few run the speed Big Red Does and if their was anywhere to run A car for A 175 mile run you can rest assured R.J. would be there because that is where he began but it no longer exists so all you can go by is the Ones he Already Beat...

Mohave Mile / Texas Mile and A couple of others is all that is left to show who will put the Pedal to the Metal and Big Red is still there... Show me who has Ran Faster... There may be A couple, but not many...

A True 200 mph+ car and the guy does it on A regular basis... Definitely "No Poser"

I'm not arguing with ya, bro- every word is true.

I think its a badass sports car thread. Maybe a make a wish thread?

I've never bought a new car in my life, but if I had to narrow it down:

A 2 seater of the finest order. The rocket.

Is a good one to get carried away about; that Camaro remains a well earned legend.

That car required a driver with rare talent to bring out the best in it. Since I'm not that good, I'm going to take advantage of advances in modern technology, lol

The way I look at it, in 5 years dropping 100 large on a car will be as commonplace as $60k is today. That will buy me a gently used Gallardo, one I'll pamper forever... when I'm not out driving it like I just stole it, or cramming it full of parts to make an already sublimely quick car just plain stupidfast.

Wretched excess. It's not just for bacon anymore...

If money wasn't an issue I'd take the Lambo on any given day... The biggest thing separating these two in the following clip from my point of view is driver skill, the will to do it and the price tag at about 6 to 1 give or take... Corvette is way under priced compared to the level of technology / engineering involved to produce it and part of the reason it is GM's flag ship is that it still remains competitive with Super Cars 5, 6, 7 times it's price but who can't appreciate the exotic lines and level of technology of any Lamborghini? Two completely different animals all together ;)

I notice these clips all take place on perfect roads. In bad weather, sand, etc, I'm all about all wheel drive. I've built and driven my fair share of '60s muscle (Olds specialist!), and I'm over a squirrelly rear end when I put the power down.

@SoCal 420 that sounds like one hell of a ride you've got there, bro- I hope to catch a ride in it someday!

I hear Ya on all wheel drive I just prefer that in A different flavor...

910hp, Twin-Turbo, All-wheel Drive, 150 mph Suzuki SX4 as it races up one of the world's most dangerous hills. An attempt by the "Monster" to break his own record of 10:01:41...

I've been there and watched the Pills Peak Hillclimb in person- when it was still a dirt road with few guardrails!
