So my question to all of you is if large scale grows with the crazy taxes are allowed to go forward what would you guys "in the know" predict prices will be for top shelf product?

I bet the despenseries just eat the tax like they do now.....there probably isn't goin to be that much adjustment to the final sale price

They'll just add more lights or, more likely, warehouses to compensate for the tax.

Yea, they will eat the tax and just pass it down to the customer in reduced quality. If this keeps up, the recreational shops will be selling shake when its all said and done. Either way, for those of us in a more underground market, less competition and solidifies our place, sans badges.

At the capital now they just voted to not require Vi. 7-3 in favor of not requiring VI.

There is a lot of work to do still to make sure this stays defeated.

Very nice JG! Is that 30% tax set in stone? Cuz ive heard numerous entities suggest a more reasonable tax for both reasons of comparable taxation to alcohol but more importantly to them- keeping buds from going underground with an unreasonable tax. And as public- do we get to vote on that 30% tax or only additional excise tax?

Vertical Integration. The current MMJ model is 'vertically integrated'.

30% tax? their shootin for 40% and a special election for the additional tax catagory...

VI being knocked out is killer...sounds like there will be seperate licenses for growers, wholesale distributors, and retailers as seperrate independent intities..that could be real interesting goin forward

Well, for sure if you want to play "the game" you better bring your wallet! $295.00 per person for the Rob Corry Legal Seminar....

What I don't quite understand, and someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the Task Force just making recommendations? Won't the State Legislature actually make the laws that control Amendment 64 Compliance?

Here's the email I got about the "SEMINAR!"

Same program they had for the med stuff....exactly the same I think..

Those state guys are smart though, the alcohol scheme with producers, distributors, and retailers is the triple tax ladder.....they tax the producers, then they tax the distributors, then the retailer, then double whack the consumer with a sales and excise tax..it's brilliant and the states have already been doin it that way for awhile...when those guys were arguing to treat it like and tax it like alcohol they should have researched how they actually tax alcohol sales..

Funny, I guess they don't know if they end up in the 'business' they'll just have him or someone else on retainer to answer all this for them. But I'm sure Laura needs money. The honeypot will be drying up soon for some of these 'activists' and 'groups'.

VI seems to be dead:

". A coalition of large-scale pot businesses argued to keep Colorado’s grow-your-own requirement. "

"Other marijuana sellers argued that the growing requirement isn’t needed now that people without medical problems are free to buy pot. They argued that large marijuana businesses wanted to keep the requirement to dramatically limit competition."

So basically that says we still have a vote on the 30% taxation? Either way is fine, but 30% is NOT like alcohol regulation/taxation plain and simple.

@JG- are there any lobbies pressing for a tax more similar to alcohol?

“It makes sure that if you’re growing it, you have a legal way of selling it,” said Mike Elliott, head of the Denver-based Medical Marijuana Industry Group.

Yeah, like the legal ways it was being sold according to the audit :) "A task force that examined the question earlier this year proposed a one-year protection for medical shops. The legislative committee suggested a much smaller 90-day window."

30% is alot less then what alcohol is if you figure thet total tax applied from production to sale or "seed to sale"

Thank god they didn't use the gasoline or cigerrette formula, now thats some tax

I think prices will go up on the rec side, especially with that tax
