I plan on using Pro Mix for my grow which is uncharted territory for me. My experience with cloning has been with my trusty cheap bubble cloner and before that, a small ebb and flow tray with rockwool. My plan is to clone directly into Pro Mix using the smaller clear plastic cups to see when they root. Under florescent lighting, of course.

So.. Cups filled with moistened Pro Mix, take my cutting as usual, dip in rooting hormone and drop into cup filled with Pro Mix.. Patiently wait... Keep media moist.. Lightly mist if looking limp.. etc..

Dome? no dome? any other pointers?

Thanks!

I use another clear cup as a dome

How long do you typically leave on the extra cup? 2-3 days?

It's actually one of the things i love about cloning in a bubble cloner.. cutting, ph'd water and you're pretty much done with the exception of a water change or two. I'd use the bubble cloner but it seems like it'd be a bit fussy to plant the rooted clones into pro mix after the fact.

Idk about a week or so but its dry as fuck here. If bubble cloner works for you just do that then once rooted fill cup a tad with pre moistened promix then add the rooted clone and cover with more pre moistened promix

I suppose you're right. I've done with soil without any issues. I guess i just wanted to try something different! ;)

I'll try it both ways just for the fuck of it! lol

Promix is easy ran it for years till i switched to the current mix which shits on promix

Please tell about this mix? I havent purchased my bag of Pro Mix yet since i'm still vegging in soil to determine females.. I've got at least a few weeks until i can even sex them. Then veg a bit them so i have enough to clone.

Well first off... Fuck pro mix hahaha
I just noticed your pics...do you purposely take clones from a flowering plant? Or is it an auto? As a photoperiod regs kinda guy, it sucks when the clone is taken during flower (or should I say when budset starts) causing me huge amounts of time revegging? Just curious.

On the first go it is the fastest way to get females...after that its done im in veg... You already know if it has dick and balls... And a reveg clone is not that much extra time if you know what youre doing. Flip 10.. flip back for 14 on 24...(little nutes as possible...no uv)
Sex done..
Cut it and go

Last clones are already off to hardening.... 3 months from 150 seeds to 20

Ok that clears that up lol Just joking here but Its cloning after bud set that shows off the "don't know what your doing part" in my defense. Yeah clones revert back to veg much quicker than a mature flowered and harvested plant does. Then funky few leaves on a re-veg have a few veterans asking me what the fuck I did to that plant. lol. BTW sorry OP I have never cloned in soil, or a cup of water successfully, cubes and perlite for me.

If you're going to use a clear cup to monitor the roots, put the planted clone in the clear cup into a second opaque cup. Roots don't like light. I typically use a dome because it's dry where I live, if your space is super humid you may not need it though. Also be careful when planting that you don't rub the clone gel off of the cut stem on the insides on the hole.

Great point..many dont make a big/deep enough hole and/or the medium is not wet enough to begin a good root base... Ph can flux a lot at beginning and the plant will still do its thang
