-I use half the media I did with peat even with more plants, thats easier to move into my space.
-I can transplant clones once into the final container, Instead of transplanting 3 times like you do in peat. That's a lot less work.
-It shaves a full week or 2 off the grow cycle, that's a week or 2 less feeding etc..
-Because of the small containers the automated feeding is stupidly easy to manage.
-the plants are immediately responsive to feedings and/or nutrient deficiencies or excesses, making dialing in the feeding a lot easier
But like you said we dont need to argue over which is better. I'm just saying why coco is better for me.

I use the bags of Canna loose coir/fibre blend, not the bricks. Comes in 50L bags, its RHP certified to be pest free, prebuffered and washed, ready to use straight from the bag. I pour it straight from the bag into the pots, fluff it up a little, stick a plant in and water it with nutrient solution.

If i had that available i would have tried it. The stores near me all suck!
But i do always say use a locally readily available properly stored fresh medium. So thats what i do.

I believe I paid $25 per bag? I'm not sure honestly lol. But it's slightly more expensive than promix, but works out about the same or cheaper when you factor in how much less is used.No need for perlite? Why do so many mix it in?

And for 1 gallon pots there is zero need for perlite and it will hold the perfect amount of air to water even fully saturated. The coco fiber somewhat serves the same function as the perlite. It might not even be necessary in 2 gallon pots if you transplant a strong rootball into it, especially if they are wider than they are tall. But for 3 gallons I'd mix in some perlite just to lighten it up a bit to help prevent channeling and compaction.

About 75% not finished the grow yet but yoeld will not be on par as i have not maximized my training etc.This was a great thread and grow guys and gals!!
How hard were you pushing your HLG 600 would you say? Did you post final weight yet? I haven't read the last few pages yet.

Promix is the cheapest option here too, but in Canada it's closer to $40 a bale if you buy it from a place that stores it inside. You can get it cheaper from home depot or canadian tire but they keep it outside. And remember with coco even if it's almost twice the price you can use 1/3 as much.
Last thing I'll really say about why I switched to coco so as not to keep Aquas thread off the rails too long..
For me it was a combination of things, wanting more control over the inputs and less media to move around, but most importantly to use a media that has undergone strict quality control. The quality of the media is such a hugely important variable, and I got sick of bringing in bugs and constantly changing starter charges and inconsistent batches dealing with peat mixes. The number one thing that drew me over is the RHP certification. I really like controlled variables, and media is a big one. Then I factor in the other benefits and it's a no brainer for me.

Wicked thread dude I will catch up just see a bag of coco an that was itAbout 75% not finished the grow yet but yoeld will not be on par as i have not maximized my training etc.

I'm not sure its fair to say one medium is better then another, technically in some areas maybe but not over all , they all have pro and cons, but in the end there only as good as the grower growing in it, hydro, coco, peat. doesn't matter only as good as the grower, and how many growers can say they actually mastered several medium to know the actual differences in them , of growth rates etc.
I think it boils down to what ever medium fits your grow style better, what easiest your, what you like, etc etc . that medium will grow better for you period.
Here is why I use sunshine + perlite
I use 4 gal. pots because I can't come close to growing the size plant I want in one 1 gal pot
I only grow 5 maybe 6 plants in 4x4 area, depending on plant , my goal is nothing less 1/2 lb plants, thats the way I like to grow ,less plants less clones etc
sunshine is much cheap unless I buy bricks of coco but then its a pain washing it and a lot of water, but either way i'd need the same volume of medium to grow the plants I want
my clones go directly into my 4 gal pots, no transplanting , that for fastest best growth
I water twice day if home I like to hand water if not automatic
and time is a very subjective thing if your really growing a 5+ foot plant in coco how much faster are you really them peat, a lot of people say its faster which it is to a degree but there growing smaller plants to, and that little bit of faster growth doesn't out weight my like for sunshine, if it was about speed i'd run hydro,
as far as flavors, bud density, frost,resin etc , a lot of factors, but if you know what your doing in the medium your using they will be as good as anyone else's
I don't have deficiencies, or any other issues in my peat because i stuck with it long enough to figure all that out and dial in my nutes for my grow style , room etc.
nutrients plays no part in it for me, I mix my own so it only cost pennies anyhow.
I say use whatever medium that ends up working best for you, and forget about the rest, have fun.

Its the 3.8 cu ft. bale. The white garden/ feed/hydro specialty store one.

blunt force trauma seems like it's gonna go forever still almost all white pistils but chunking up. I think the Hyper blue cherry magoo is gonna finish right on 10 weeks.
Blunt force trauma pics. Upper buds are ranging from about 6" to 16" long between the 3 phenos. Correct this after using a measuring tape. They llom longer than they are

also I feel like I shit the bed and cut calcium to late and was using to much from mid flower on.
