Dimming has an effect on spectrum

Interesting. I'd be curious to see if the Wattage bumps up on the 8, 9, and 10 settings. You got a watt meter?

Good to know.
(that info seems to be related to HID, not sure if this translates to LED)
+1

EDIT: https://horticulturelightinggroup.ca/blogs/news/does-dimming-led-change-spectrum

seems like LED is not impacted the same way

So your increasing the spectrums outside of par at the higher intensity and this a lower visible return on a par meter.

A quantum meter will show this

You would need to see how much the potentiometer is increasing the power output at 8,9,10 and i bet ot would correlate

Straight from HLG themselves! Probably minimal impact with these new full spectrum LEDs. I'm curious to see what his wattage readings come back as.

Yes thats not to say there is no impact and you need to verify the curve on power output of the potentiometer

By very minimal that leaves it very open to interpretation

Pretty much this… there is nothing wrong with the light or the meter. A quantum meter will give a much more accurate picture

Go back and look at their chart… where do you see the huge changes? Below 400 and above 700 which is the par spectrum.

This is their chart. Like i say their statement leaves a lot of room for interpretation. And is speaking generally overall impact is low… while above and below par it is not low. There is infact a massive difference in the UV spectrum

their chart is a little confusing, but the actual comparison line is almost 100% in line with the non-dimmed light :)

Better picture:

Look below 400 almost none at half wattage and then the huge spike at max wattage… that is the UV spectrum outside of par… meaning a par meter will not read it.

I believe mine advertised as an advanced quantum par meter. But this may be where quality comes into play with comparison to the superior USA product lol

Honestly run the light at max if possible and adjust height would be the best way to go.

I dont see a need for any such device. It doesn’t tell you what a plant can handle and every single grow and genetic is different.

They are meant to record readings that can be duplicated later on. You can do that with any meter. Its just not as universally accurate when giving data to someone else
