As a few of you know I had a mini grow log going in the infirmary forum and decided that this go around I would make a legit one. Little back ground on my last grow. 4 train wrecks in a 5x5 tent under a Scrog net using, or should I say misusing, GH nutes. I was using the autopot xl with airdomes. Those plants had some weird funky problems that I attribute to several factors but they still pulled through with some decent weight and tasty flowers. This time around I’m growing 6 northern light autos in the 15l autopots. The plan is to use only megacrop at low ppms with calmag foliar as necessary. I’ll be topping 2 and comparing final weights since I’ll be doing several runs with these beans. Germinated 6 seeds in paper towels with 100% success rate. Planted them and three days later all have popped the surface and shed their shells. I’m using 50/50 coco perlite that was rinsed then charged with cal mag and then rinsed again. I fed them today with 100ppm solution to 20% runoff. I’m using a 20 hour light schedule. Temps have been 75 with lights on 63 with lights off. I would like to keep temps up, wondering what your guys thoughts are on 24 hour on lights as that’s keeping the temperature near perfect. RH is about 50% it’s a little low but to boost it up I have to kick the humidifier up a notch and then the tank only lasts 8 hours. I work 12’s usually. I may use a 5 gallon bucket to the humidifier Rez for more capacity but don’t want to if I don’t have to. What do y’all think? Keep it at 50 or do a little diy to keep it a bit higher? ✌ and ❤
Can't wait till those roots hit that water!Well here we are 10 days from seed and everything is plugging along like a well oiled machine. Last night I didn’t seat the humidifier res properly so it didn’t turn on. Rh got fairly low but it didn’t seem to affect anything to badly. I think in the next day or so I’ll put my big boy hurricane fan in there for more circulation. Currently I have 2 non oscillating 6 inch clip fans going but those things are pretty wimpy. I’ve watered 2 times with megacrop. First watering was 100 ppm second was 140. I don’t know if I mentioned it but I’m using the California light works 1100. Currently set reds to 39%, whites to 49%, and blues at 100%. Light is all the way at the top of the tent and ppfd at plant tops averages 215. After a few sets of true leaves I’ll increase my light intensity to about 500 at plant tops.
Another day gone by and I’m starting to wonder if this is going to turn into a 5 plant grow. Haven’t watered in about 5 days and that droopy plant is looking even worse. It actually feels crispy to the touch. Soil is still moist under the surface though. I’m starting to wonder if it’s actually overwatered. It seems as though everything I read says coco/perlite retains enough oxygen for root development no matter how much water it receives. What do you all think? Water it or continue to leave it??
I haven’t started bottom feeding yet. Probably one more top feed wait a few days and turn on the Rez. These had, I think kind of a rough start to life. Not optimal heat, or humidity. Couple that with little seedlings in big pots and I’m not surprised that one is struggling. Hell all of them have kind of struggled. I think the others are healthy but not as far a long as they could be.Have you filled the bottoms of the pots yet with water?
I just transplanted a couple small plants to auto pots after watering the promix well with about 350ppm total.
I also filled the bottom of the two pots with fresh water at transplant and just recently filled them again with about 450ppm total from below. I figured after the good soak at first "and they also seem to be absorbing the water from below" that the roots should be there soon but I only have them both below 2 - 42 watt cfl bulbs atm....
I would wonder if they/yours maybe hit a dry spot below while growing which is doubtful if watered fully down or just stalled from growing roots... not much help but I am looking forward to them finding their groove.
I grew an auto Jack Herer once that stalled about twice that height " I had wondered at the time if I had stressed it with a light feeding" and it stayed at that height in it's 3 gallon pot while all the regulars grew up around it then it took off and produced a small bush.
Maybe it was just growing a bunch of roots and not much upper growth...dunno.
Yeah I’m gonna pop 4 more beans in a few weeks. Put them in solo cups under a dome and on top of a heating mat. That way I can keep the environment more stable while they are seedlings. People say not to transfer auto flowers because of their short lifecycle but my last grow with photos I noticed maybe a 24 hour stall after transplanting is all. So much easier to take care of in solo cups that I think it will be worth it. I’m gonna cover the little lady with a small dome for now But the others I think have enough established roots that they will be fineConsider putting the humidifier on a deep cycle timer so as to stretch the time
and/or here's how I clone, but putting a dome of some kind over your babies until they get bigger (probably too late now) will help
