Some minor mods to add and finish up for him. We will need to attach an exhaust fan o the top. But all other elements have been taken care of.
lights - led strip (+/- 120 watts)
medium - single pot soil
nutes - top fed happy frog

So apparently it’s been a minute since last posting. Five months just flew past. Clearly all of my plants are out of the basement and into the back yard. Half here and the other half of the winter crop ended up at my friends field. It’s good to known an actually farmer with acreage.

inside all the tents have been shut down since the last week or so of may. Saving that cheddar on the electricity. Thank you oh great sun for your rays to grow this weed. Will share some of the bud porn when its time, for now we tend and wait and watch.

Shitty photos from my phone. But this is the production field over at in my friends back yard.

Again not the traditional laboratory going on this time of year. I’ve pretty much been able to grow winter into spring to get the summer clones / crop. Then grow outdoors all through the summer and save on the power bill. works great except for years like this one, im gunna run dry sometime in sept or oct. These plants will not be dry and jarred until near thanksgiving.

It was time. Had to take some this past weekend. Super wet summer bug rot developing in some areas. i Personally go for the wet trim, I know this is debated, but with the septoria and other moisture related issues it was warranted.
hope everyone has a good week.

Oh hey Ya’ll.
Its time to start the 2023-24 winter into summer outdoor grow. A big part of plan self sufficiency is making sure the summer outdoor grow can carry you through the entire year to next sept or oct, it starts now a full year in advance.
Im looking at 42 individual seeds spread across 16 strains. Some are from reputable growers one is from a local dude and some I bred myself in years past. Another rule of self sufficiency breed your own seeds, stop spending money on the banks; always buy regs breed when you can make your own genetics!

18-22% range.
orange bud - MNSL
golden nugget - MNSL
Afghani - MNSL

20-24% range
Blue Dream x Purple Haze - Humbolt Seed Co
nitro lemon haze - MNSL
San Fernando Kush - Local hippy
Mz Jillz lemon Bean S1 backcross - Me
Mz Jillz x Golden nugget - Me
Mz Jillz x Orange bud - Me

22-26% range
ice - MNSL
Mz Jillz x Sanf Fernando Kush - Me
Mz Jillz x Nitro lemon Haze - Me
Chem Haze x Topic Cookies - Local Breeder

28%+ range
San Fernando Kush x Zittles - Me
Quattro Kush x Lilac Haze - Ethos Genetics

Since I am starting now I will have plenty of time to do a full boom cycle indoors to weed out the males and undesirable phenotypes. really excited to see what some of my own genetics will do fully expecting to have duds and hermies and a whole mess of failure. But those few that come through as beautiful will hopefully ensure future genetics un the freezer.

Cannabis aside I am also growing some Haban-Notta’s a bred hybrid of Habanero peppers that a Cornell professor masters back In the 1990s. He bred out the capsaicin and they tingle the mouth but no heat. Crazy botany. I was in the Ithaca NY area not to long ago and stumbled across the peppers. We‘ll see what happens inside the tents.

Also a shout out the green growing scene in Ithaca weed is still awesome and strong. They’ve come a lone way from importing beasters.

Be well grow on!

So it worked out. My buddy was able to see the grow to completion in his Space Case. Looks like near an ounce in the closet.

After just a few days the miracle of germination has occurred. Maybe looking at 50% pop rate. Not too bad for old or home bred seeds.
Be well and grow on!

Took some time to transplant all the seedlings today. They were starting to get leggy. Pro tip here make sure you bury the leggy stem of your seedlings, they will sprout roots for: this stem much later in life. But you want them all at the height under the lights. Gets you set up for consistency in canopy level the entire grow.
also pro tip use some sort of rooting or mitocortizol powder to sponsor fast root establishment and growth in the soil.
had a little over half of the seed germinate. 27 of the 42 seeds, none of the Zittles x SFV popped. I think they are too immature, white in color.
first time using Coco Doctor product cool to see it is fortified with some dirt as well, used a 6:2 gallon ratio happy frog / coco doctor for substrate. Been a soil grower for a long time now.
so nice to get my hands dirty again, Im on the 6 month indoor 6 month outdoor growing regiment.
Be well and grow on all!

We’re at 9 days right now. i was able to regulate and have them all at the same height for the transplant a few have gotten leggy and I lowered my t5’s just a tad. Pro tip having easily adjustable lights is huge for dialing in that night lumins at the right time.

nothing too exciting yet. Just plants doing what they are supposed to.

In other news I have a buddy obsessed with black domino, norther lights, and jack carrera. And is willing to buy seeds if I grow it out. Since I don’t have any of those in my genetics back we’re hoping he is serious.

be well and grow on,

Four of the Haba-nottas popped. Super cool. Peppers are also growing in the weed lab now.

hey man,
it’s true once you get your environment and methodology dialed in you can really continually reprodcuce great outcomes.
It started for me with a single 2x2x3 chamber that I built myself from strap wood and mylar blankets.
there are a lot of entry points into the indoor hobby.

Day 22.
mighty fine seedlings going on. Growing well, a few runts as to expected, but healthy green growth from most all the plants.

Pro tipN not all lights are created equal. I use the t5s for seedling and veg, then under the LEDs for bloom. Not sure why but the florescent lights are “kinder?” Somehow to my plants.

Be well and grow on,

That's v cool, I only hope I can get anywhere close to your amazing grows. And thanks for words of encouragement.

I'm just in process of setting up my first indoor tent grow (after 2 initial outdoor grows this season). The one thing that's causing me most thought/ire is the soil/growing medium setup. So many different options and opinions out there so can be hard to filter and pin down. I think I have a plan (one easy, other not so much), just need to choose and try it though I suppose.

Annoyingly I'm travelling at Xmas (can't leave them on their own for 2.5 weeks) so don't think I have enough days left to start/finish so will have to be as soon as we get back at New Year. Can't wait!
