I believe 9... I feel like a terrible caregiver not remembering.
Gets wild down there once they start casting some real shade.

Means a lot coming from you guys.
I pretty much always did little closet grows that were really piecemeal and wicked neglected up until this, so it does get me a little

Now I should really put a fucking thermometer in there or test the pH or something

Day 16 Fleur

Forgot the DSLR at work today
Smartphone camera is still quite adequate.

I think today's gonna be the last day of their game of chicken with the light fixture. Interesting experiment.

It's really quite impressive how gentle they are without compromising intensity.
I imagine there's some amount of stress impeding their optimal development, but, seems no signs of obvious light stress.

I'll really have to trim up that undercarriage. I think I've found they get about 2 - 2.5' of decent bud production. So, I'll be taking them up upwards of a foot, leaving some of the fan leaves that noticeably receive light.

The smell is evolving. Still lots of pine and lemon, but now with a green/white peppercorn sort of smell coming through, too.

The more they develop and the more I read into the strain, I do find myself believing that they are Trainwreck. Pretty cool.

Pa's super close...

I have no idea what others are pulling. I know the stuff from illinois dispensaries mostly sucks. I know the stuff I got on the street sucks. I know the stuff my old dealer who is now legit in michigan pulls, comparatively, sucks.

It's all basic ass highs, even when it tastes good.

I don't know why that is because it's ridiculous to think I could be less than a year into this and be remotely good at it.

But i know that I felt like my bud was closest to stuff grown outdoors by an old timer i know.

What aspect of the grow causes that? Trying to figure that out. What other home growers are pulling? No idea. Am I delusional? Early surveys say no but people could just be trying to be nice to me when I smoke with them or when they are reporting back on my bud.

Idk. But my current hypothesis is the biggest difference between weed grown in hawaii and weed grown in michigan is the sunshine as opposed to soil. Just like tropical fruit....i am half puerto rican and have spent a lot of time down there. The sun is different. Plants know it. Even with the same heat and such, comparing dead of summer in the midwest to the average day in Puerto Rico....it's different.

I think the biggest operative difference is the quantity of UV and Far Red as a proportion of the spectrum (the difference has been shown to be there at least for far red and i have practical experience with the UV....).

Anyway, coming in hot this morning. Sorry.

its because of too much fertilizer and harvesting too early as a norm and the plants picked are short flowering phenos and usually have too high thc content from trichomes all over the leaves and everything picked for concentrate making.

And thats honest stores. Many sift for trichomes and then sell the flowers anyway.

Grown properly the lights and nutes make very little difference in quality.

Patience and separation from greed are the conditions of a great garden.

Day 17 Fleur

Well, it was a very kick-beluga-in-the-testicles sort of day.

Forgot my DSLR at work yet again. And then...
Before

After

I hate defoliating.
"Hey, you wanna spend an hour painfully reminding yourself about how you procrastinate and don't plan things out well?"
"Su..."
"OH! Also, you'll spend it mutilating something you've cared for over the past few months."
"... okay."

It's alright if you take it from just the aerial perspective.

You thought wrong, beluga. You thought wrong...

In reality... probably between 18 - 20".

I won't just beat myself up.

I've never grown this strain before. I had surprise home improvements and inspections a week after germinating them, for weeks after germinating them... were they not my only beans, I'd have probably just done 'em ol' yeller style... but, alas. I was eager to build this strip light, and that thing's awesome.
Life does shit.
A good learning experience. I think this strain would do extremely well as a bush with very little veg time or a giant hedge outdoors (whenever that will be possible...)Not SOG material, definitely SCROG material. Definitely a hog. All indicators point to it actually being of Trainwreck lineage, so maybe the male is actually of Blue Velvet lineage..?
Speaking of him...

Anyway.
I've got an oriental rug with my name on it.

Day 18 Fleur
Uggghhhh. Finally set up my desktop, and Man!...
It's so much easier to do these posts. Thumbs should always be reserved exclusively to the spacebar.
Anyway ()
Raised the lights yesterday before defoliating. They were probably 2" away at most. No evident stress. That's cool.

So, new light position, new perspective

This one's always good

This one, too.

They're frosting up

Well, winter's showing its (void of) colors. The dehumidifier is no longer producing what these girls need to drink.
Great for my house not rotting out from the ground up...
But, it looks like I'll need a new water source... never tested my tap. I guess now's the time. I pass it through a 10 stage filter, so that takes care of a lot. But I might need to buffer it more or something.

Anything else? Ugh. Love this keyboard.

OH!

Mr. Blue Velvet...

Beautiful work here brotha

Do you have any concerns about WPM with the density in there?

A reasonable amount.
I have no idea what the humidity is in the tent, but the basement reads around 40 usually... so that's not an alarming RH for mold development.
I have an oscillating fan clipped above where the camera shoots, and I'll probably add a tower fan soon. Hopefully all of that combined will keep it at bay. Never gotten the mildew indoors (even in a shed) and I've had some out of control RH... our summers are like Satan's swampass after his morning cardio.

My first run I had 18 plants comprised of 6 diff strains and only one (the one I most wanted to turn out) strain, the Ghost Breath OGs developed WPM late flower

That might be another thing.
I don't think I've run anything far from heirloom strains that are usually rigorously bred for, among other things, their disease/mold resistance.

Strain makes a huge difference. We had a room one time with pre-98 bubba, williams wonder, mataro blue, and purple white lightning, and the bubba kush got hit hard with wpm. Looked like it had snowed. Nothing else in the room got even so much as a speck.

That's really fascinating. The Fruity Pebbles plants in the same run seemed bullet proof. I'm leaning strongly toward some dragons flame gear or possibly the Master Kush I saw recommended I think by @sshz for my next run

Dragonsflame certainly stress tests his plants properly. He is one of the good guys in cannabis breeding.

That's consistent with what I've observed from both his posts and other's experience with his gear. I like supporting those business ethics.
