Almost sounds like you're using a 2x3 fabric pot. If so, looks like it's working well for you so far.

Just so happens that I have 2 of those in the 2 x 4 size. I have more on the way in various sizes for summer vegetables outside. I was going to use 5 gallon fabric pots for my final transplant prior to flip. I like your idea though and may give it a try.
